I am down to 5 and MAN is it hard...... I've never pressed L3 so much :lol

It sounds odd (and possibly dumb) but is L3 more energy intensive or something? I've drained the charge on the PS3 controller pretty much every time I've sat down and played this for any length of time.

I'm playing infamous, I've been going around the first island collecting shards and whatnot, I just got over 25% of the shards. I started the mission where you have to defend the medical clinic and kill all the red dudes. I killed them all and I don't think I killed any civilians but I still got a slightly evil rating, why?

Not a biggie. Just do the one shown in the pause screen.
Yeah, but once you've done all of them, what if you want to look back at how to do some of the stunts, in case you've forgotten? I know I have a few times.. :/

Because you killed them. Capture them alive is possible.

You don't get negative karma for killing the reapers as far as I can tell. I capture alive wherever possible on this runthrough, but I do kill a lot (Even wounded kills) and I never see any negative karma (On missions or individual kills).

Just start a new game? You don't have to do all the stunts again for the trophy to register right?

You have to perform all the stunts again if you do so. Oddly stunts are not "shared".

So if I want the trophy I have to get all shards, deaddrios, stunts and everything else in ONE playthrough?

You dont have to, but it's faster if you do. When u start a new game, everything is reset IN THAT GAME. You can still load the previous one and keep going with your collection.

Yep, sure... Go to Zeke's house to trigger the respawn point, then jump off the roof on to the train tracks and head east into the train station, just past it you should jump off towards the coast. You'll see a broken dock off the shore. Jump on to the first post of that broken dock, turn around and jump back to the island, and go back up to the train station...

There should be 5 bad guys, usually 2 on one side of the station and 3 on the other. Kill the side with 2, then get the other 3 all grouped up by the stairs and shockwave them. If you don't get it, jump into the water and try again.

I am down to ONE last blast shard. Cannot find it.

I used some maps which were posted earlier and ticked off each blast shard. So I have no idea which I could have missed. This is screwed. No idea what to do...

Could somebody please redirect me to where those map images were? I can't seem to find them in the thread anymore...

Amazing game, amazing ending. Oh my god. So perfect. Gonna start my evil playthrough tonight :D

Who wants Gigawatt blade codes? I might be able to get a few from work [ew gamestop :(]. We had like 30 of them. >_> I dunno how many i'll be able to take though.

Me, Please!!!

edit: Just finished the second island last night. I was at like 94% at clearing out the second island, and didn't see anymore yellow side mission things to do. Now it appears I (probably not a spoiler)
can't go back over the bridge
, but hopefully that will change once I do some story missions over here.

Great game. This is how sand box games should be!

It's amazing how bored I was with gta4, but I can't stop playing this one!

Thanks, got it now. Onto the next one which is kill an enemy with their own grenade. My shockwave is too powerful and ends up killing them before the grenade.

Is there a location where I can keep trying against an enemy with a grenade? I'm trying in the Historic District but have only managed to come across one group of enemies so far.

I got this one in the same spot that I got the 'have a nice fall' one at the train station, using nearly the same tactic - kept all three grouped together and kept my distance, and watched for one to use a grenade then used shockwave. It didn't take too long. The distance they seem to keep on their own was enough for it to work for me.

Oh yeah, I've got 18/21 stunts. How do I do "Right back at ya"? I tried with the rocket dudes but that wasn't it. I tried with the grenade-droppin' bots but that didn't work either. ><

Regular grunts that occasionally throw grenades, or the rare grenade launcher enemies.

Yes please, if you have enough.

Mid-way through the second island and I'm loving how great it is to get around. The missions are fun and combat is great.

As for sandbox style games, this destroys all comers. Poor GTA, all of their big buildings are just for show.

can someone who's finished the game let me know how much is left once you make it to the 3rd island? I'm hoping that means you're literally 2/3 way through, but the 3rd island looks small and the plot seems to be wrapping up. I don't want to accidentally beat the game yet.

Gigawatt plz. :)

After getting 100% on the first island and moving on to the second, I've played the game enough to call it my favorite PS3 exclusive. It unseats my former #1, Uncharted.

Even though the submissions are repetitive, they're quite a bit more fun then the side missions in most of these types of games. The "timed" missions, which are usually my least favorite, are easy enough here to not really annoy me too much. For some reason, I really dig the subterranean missions.

Also, the powers are a lot of fun. The "sniping" power is a favorite, though I wish I had a bit more "juice" to pull off 4-5 of those bad boys in a row. I need to work on getting more shards.

I don't think the game is a 9/10, more like a 8/10, but that's pretty damn good for this time of year. It would be the best of '09 so far if it wasn't for RE5.

Quick inFamous review:

Writing: No good!
Gameplay: So good!

But don't let the writing stop you. Yes, the moral choices that you are confronted with are completely one dimensional. Here's an example (this is the very first one you're confronted with, so not really a spoiler.)

The government has airdropped some food supplies in to the quarantined city. Do you want to do nothing, and share it with everyone, or do you want to kill off a random pedestrian, so that all of the other pedestrians get scared away and you have all of the supplies to yourself (the supplies themselves have no effect on gameplay.)

If I have any real complaints about the one dimensional morality, it's that last bit. What you choose to do has no direct effect on gameplay, or the game itself. Your karmic shift DOES effect the powers that you receive, the missions available, and the way that pedestrians treat you, but when you're faced with a moral dilemma, that karmic shift is the ONLY result. Whether you choose to be good or evil, aside from a different cut scene for each, the game goes on exactly the same.

Essentially, what it feels like the developers have done is to simply make two slightly different games, and then allow you to access either, based on your choices when faced with very obvious moral questions. This isn't such a bad thing, but it does lead me to wonder if there is any real reason to have these options in the game, and if maybe the whole thing would seem less silly (and even open up the option to more variety between the two "modes") if the game simply gave you a binary option at the beginning of the game whether you intended to play through good or evil.

But I didn't buy this game for the writing. I bought it for running around the city with electric powers, doing side missions to clean up the city, and practicing acrobatic acts to reach earth shards. Basically, I wanted another Crackdown, but with even more superpowers, and less emphasis on driving. On those fronts, the game does not disappoint.

Unlike in the demo, you have to unlock most of your powers as you go in the game, buying them with experience points. Killing enemies gets you very few experience points, so the primary way to get them is really by completing missions and side missions. I'm still too early in to the game to know whether or not that produces situations where it is difficult to upgrade late in the game, when you are running out missions and side missions, or if the developers made sure to put enough experience points in to keep your covered.

There are a variety of different side mission types, allowing for a varied gameplay experience. They include fending off an ambush, tailing a particular individual without being seen, eliminating all enemies within a certain area, and more. I've been playing bad karma, so I haven't seen any good karma side missions, but some of the bad karma side missions I've seen included hunting down a particular pedestrian, and going on a rampage in order to lure out the cops (think of raising your wanted level in GTA.) As you complete side missions you "take back" portions of the city, and it has a real satisfying feeling to it.

The earth shards I mentioned above are the primary collectable item in the game (there are other mission specific collectables). They are similar, in some ways, to the orbs in Crackdown, except that since inFamous involves more climbing than jumping in order to scale buildings, more often they are located stuck in to the sides of buildings, rather than on top of them. Another big difference between inFamous and Crackdown is that in inFamous you can scale any building from the beginning, making it easier to reach these earth shards as you clear out a particular area, rather than having to level up your abilities (as with the Jump in Crackdown) and back-tracking. Another difference in inFamous which makes finding the shards much easier is the radar pulse function. Primarily used to located sources to recharge your power from, when an earth shard is in range, it will also show up on your minimap what you send out a radar pulse, in a slightly darker color, making it that much easier to find. Collecting earth shards is more than just busy work, though. For every so many earth shards you collect, you gain a new battery core on your meter along the top of the screen, allowing you to store more power, and perform more abilities before needing to recharge.

Overall, I'd give this game a solid B. It is definitely worth buying if you are a PS3 owner, and I can see myself putting a whole lot of time in to it. I don't know that we will all be sitting around in ten or fifteen years and reminiscing about how it changed the industry, but not every game needs to be an A+ ground breaking title. It is good to have some games that are just fun. I look forward to finishing my play through, going back through with good karma, and then seeing how Realtime Worlds reacts to this game in developing Crackdown 2, and also, if it ever comes about, how inFamous 2 might add to the formula that Sucker Punch already have going here.

Just beat the game. Man it was freakin fantastic!!!

I loved the story. The ending was amazing.

The people who are complaining about the story are they playing Good or Bad? I played Good and the story was one of the best I have played in a video game ever. I seriously don't understand what some of you are complaining about. Maybe the ones complaining haven't even beaten the game yet?

I think there are like 4 main missions on the last island.

I'm playing bad.

It's not the story that is the issue so much as the writing. The story concept and plot are fine in concept, it's just the implimentation. I enjoy some of Zeke's dialogue, but beyond that it really seems like a lot ot the writing for the game simply wasn't reviewed, and/or whoever wrote it fought to keep in their favorite bits, rather than accepting that sometimes the lines that you love don't really fit. Like somebody was unwilling or unable to "kill their darlings."

I also feel like the moral choices are over-simplified, and I'm dissappointed that they don't really have any specific effect on the game (asside from the general reactions of a karmic shift.)

I do believe, though, that the awesome gameplay more than makes up for the poor quality of the writing.

Anyone know where I can find a conduit so I can Thunder Drop them?

In my game, there was always one or two near the tunnel that Cole tried to go over with Zeke at the beginning of the game on the first island. But if you cleared it out I'm not sure if that's still applicable.

I agree with the simplification but I think for the most part it works. I'm playing good right now and while the choices don't matter all that much, it is cool to have people take pictures of you and cheer you and just generally adore you as you run around.

The moral choices thing is sort of lame and gimmicky and seemingly has to be woven into every game these days. I like your idea of a binary initial choice. Just let me play good/bad from the beginning, since there is no real gray area anyway.

cool, thanks sai and eznark.

the gigawatt blades are cool, they really should make a way for non preordering people to get them though. I find myself rushing conduits (particularly the dustmen ones that spawn the robot crabs) and using the blades on them. I only upgraded them twice but it takes 2 hits with them to kill those guys. I use the blades far more often than I do thunder drop (playing good).

I'm on the fence with playing a 2nd time as bad. I think I'll just get my destruction fix with Prototype next week, I dunno.

Oh, yeah.

Let me clarify. I'm not talking about how the city or character model reacts to your kamic alignment. I think that's fine.

I'm talkng about the imediate effects of the moral decisions you make. Whether you choose to be good or choose to be bad, the results of your actions during the moral choice are still the same. It would have been better, maybe to take out the moral choices, and just let your sandboxing actions have a larger karmic effect, so that your alignment is based on your behavior, and not seemingly arbitrary binary choices.
