inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

You sure missed out, this is why I like being good more. It's because of the tracking Megawatt hammer. I shoot 4 in the air and let it rain down on my enemies.

Only on the good upgrade track. You fire it off, then when it's in the air hit your target with a standard bolt and the rocket tracks to that location.

Yeah, which is an awesome addition BTW. I shoot 4 or 5 hammers into the sky, zap one baddy, and down come the hammers.
works brilliantly on the final boss

Yup. And no matter when they run
teleport
, it'll track 'em.

And on top of that you have the max bolt upgrade which is free health, while the max grenade upgrade is free XP as well (For the
arc restraints
).

Add in some
instant energy regen from shields when under attack by turrets / golems
and your pretty much invincible.

Going back to the argument of wanting to see a more focused, linear effort from Sucker Punch next, the foggy beginnings of the Historic District are down right beautiful. Beautiful designed and detailed texture work (something the game hasn't gotten nearly enough credit for), great atmosphere, and the flaws in the image quality are non-issues due to the density and lack of distant detail. They really nailed that, and I was a bit bummed when the fog cleared.

5 shards missing, and I've roamed around every single square centimeter :(
There was a mission where I could have zapped a dude who was giving me 1 shard instead of 5, since I was on my Hero run I hope it's not because of that.

edit: 3 now. sigh.

Also, how the fuck are you supposed to zap and thunder drop the same dude while being in the air.

You dont need those missions shards, no worries.

As for the stunt, it just needs some practice. Get to very high ground, look for enemies on the road, jump, aim down, zap & Square.

Mission shards don't count.

As for that stunt, just jump off a medium-height building when you see enemies on the ground doing a shootout. It was a difficult stunt but fortunately you'll be provided with opportunities until the end of the game. I'm stuck on the "shockwave 3 enemies off a roof" one, which by endgame is nearly impossible. I managed to get 3 reapers herded into corner using upgrade Shield and shocked them off the building... but got nothing. I've noticed that since maxing out shockwave the High Fall bonuses have kinda ceased, so I'm probably going to have to get that trophy during my Evil run.

Out of curiosity, is there any sort of stat page? I've looked and looked but don't see anything, and I'd like to know how many more people I need to heal (because I could swear I've healed far more than 250). I'm also assuming there's no way to know how many shards are left on each island (346 down)?

Shards you get during missions have nothing to do with the 350 for the trophy. You're going to have to keep looking. There are a few shard maps in this thread or on google. All of the ones I missed were along the banks/piers of the islands. When searching, I recommend blocking the city off into small 1 square block segments and thoroughly searching each one.

Also, how the fuck are you supposed to zap and thunder drop the same dude while being in the air.
1. Max out your thunder drop radius (not necessary but it helps).

2. Jump from the highest location you can

3. Take your shot (you have a good bit of time, you don't have to hit thunderdrop till the very end of your freefall)

4. Hit square

I'm not sure whether it has to kill them to unlock the stunt or not.

A tip that would make this a lot easier but I'm not sure if it'd work:
use precision (i.e. slow motion)
for your initial zap.

I'm struggling with the Casey Jones trophy at the moment. I still have to activate the train in the Historic District on this playthrough, I assume I'm best to just abuse that mission?
This was my last Trophy to get before the Platinum. I think it's pretty impossible without trying to milk it. What I did was go back to a previous save to the Rescue mission (which involves rescuing the people from the train). It's probably the best time to have a large concentration of enemies while you are on a train. I'd kill a bunch of guys, get to near the end, suicide and repeat until it unlocked.

No stat page, which sucks. But if you hover over your save file, you'll see a few limited stats.

As for the shockwave stunt. There is a place where it's hard NOT to get it. It's one of the 5 evil side missions on the second island. The one where you
follow the three reaper conduits. Kill two of the reapers so they don't go killing all your targets. Then follow the one remaining reaper until you come to a tall building overlooking a slightly shorter building (you won't miss this if you just do the mission). There will be a good 15 - 20 guys on the roof of the shorter building. Go down and shockwave away
. I'm pretty sure all three have to die to unlock the stunt. So you might want to weaken a few up first with zaps.

Also, this is the best place in the game to farm XP. XP farming steps:

1. Be evil
2. Max out your thunderdrop before anything else
3. Go to the location described above and die
4. You should respawn right next to this huge crowd
5. Thunderdrop right from the checkpoint to the center of the lower roof where all the people are - You should get ~13 takedowns x 7 XP + 12 XP for a 5-in-1 blast + ~3 high falls x 7 XP. From respawn to respawn, you'll earn about 125 XP all in about 20 seconds. You'll get all the XP you need in about an hour!
6. About 5 guys should survive the thunderdrop. Keep them alive! Don't get greedy and try to kill a few for more XP. Not only do you risk going to the next checkpoint, it's actually less efficient to go finish them off then to just restart the checkpoint.
7. Kill yourself with grenades
8. Repeat

If you accidentally kill everyone, abort the mission from the pause menu and go back to step 3, above.

It reminded me of the old city in MGS4. I can't remember the location, but you have the
Young Snake mask
.

I thought the most beautiful lighting in inFamous was at the very end, right before the last boss fight. It was this surreal blue color and it kept all of the shadows and reflections low. Textures and edges really popped.

Er, mission shards do count. I've started hunting for them after I maxed out my power bar, and as soon as I got some for completing those missions, my total count wa updated.

Just found 2 in the prison, 3 left :| And yeah, I've already ran around all islands, starting from the shores, and circling everything. Oh well.

It was better than the orange, dusty look of other sections (oh how gaming has made me loathe the orange hue), but it was still too clear, which immediately brings out the flaws in the image. It honestly feels like that small section of the game, with fog and low light obscuring everything in the distance while bringing out the fine details of the objects and buildings you traverse, was the target image for the game and the city, and I wish there were more such settings.

Another thing they really nailed was the effect of being in a neighborhood with no power. It was subtle but immediately recognizable, and honestly a bit intimidating, as if you had stepped too far into a desert without a good supply of water.

They definitely didn't count for me. They increased my power bar but not my progress towards the 350.

So how come they did increase my total count then?

edit: 2 left D:

Also unlocked the stunt. Was grinding on train rails when I saw some First sons down, I jumped of the rail, zapped one, and owned him with a thunder drop. That was epic :lol

Next one is take down 3 guys by making 'em fall of a roof with shockwave. Since I already have cleared all the islands I think I'm fucked :/
There are still some ennemies spawning even after clearing the districts, but I'm not sure I'll find some on a roof. Oh well. I guess I'll get the suntst trophy on my inFamous run.

Raist said:

They increased the count towards your power upgrade, not towards the total 350 shards scattered around the city. They don't count. I also missed those by not zapping the guy, and got all 350.

And you call yourself a Doctor...

LIES.

When I did not zap the guy, he gave me one shard, and my count was increased, I'm sure about that. But I guess there are evil missions where you also lose some shards, so it balances out.

Nope. The mission shards definitely do not count towards the 350 collectable total, but do towards battery cell capacity. IIRC it just flashes up your total whenever you actually come across shards by any means; when they are mission rewards it's not actually increased that total though.

Edit; what he said, ^^ far better, and with less words :)

No, when you've hit max power nodes or whatever the "3XX/350" bar will appear when you do a mission where you get shards, but the actual number is not moving up.

IMO it's kinda stupid, and I think the max number of nodes should be only attainable by carefully managing missions to max out shards. Hunting for the last few shards really feels dumb when it's so obviously to get a stupid trophy. REALLY wish Sucker Punch had done some sort of post-endgame thing where you could see all the remaining shards or the radar pulse stayed on or whatever. The limited range combined with mashing R3 combined with the shard icon being almost identical in color to water really makes the process a grind.

Ugh, don't remind of the stunt! That trophy was hard to get, it should have been a gold trophy, oh and the rockhound trophy as well! They're both harder than hard playthrough!

So, for red baron trophy how do you kill them?? Would it count if you kill them with shockwave? Like, reapers for example on the first island so after you upgrade shockwave, would it kill them while they are in the air?

Is it strange that I got the Stunt trophy quite easily on my first playthrough (almost certainly by luck)? I really didn't see the difficulty in it, so I'm thinking I got really lucky :lol

I found all of the trophies in this game easy but time consuming.

You want hard trophies, go play MLB 09 the Show

Well, they weren't really that hard, but I did find the "right back at ya" with the grenade tough since there aren't many grenade launchers in the game and the one I did come across always committed suicide by jumping off the tower, I had to abandon the mission and restart 20+ times and keep my distance so he wouldn't back off and kill himself in the process by slipping off the edge, took me a while to get it. :P

err 2nd island one of the missions has a ton of them all in that cargo yard...

Still 20 shards to go!

And I just can't seem to find a right place to get the

I haven't finished any of the side missions in the Historic District, just to get that stunt..

Have a nice fall? That's cake! Read my post above! But don't do this if you're doing your moral playthrough because you can't purchase all the moral upgrades if you do an immoral side mission.

So quick question, do you get locked out of any of the side missions by progressing through the story? I've left 12 in the first island, and I'm curious if I can go back later.

You can always go back. The only missions that get locked out are good/evil missions depending on which you choose.

I've finished inFamous twice now.

The story: A good story in gaming is a pacing device that motivates the player to experience the content that the designers have created from beginning to end. It properly sets the pace and doles out twists and turns in just the right amount to keep the player going until the inevitable conclusion. I actually enjoyed it much than something like GTAIV because I never felt like there was a disconnect between the character I was playing and the character I was watching in the cut scenes.

It was the perfect companion the gameplay progression, can't really ask for more than that.

The gameplay: What can I say that hasn't already been said? They just nailed that specialy "something" about the play mechanics that just made it feel so wonderful when you were controlling it. Great platforming, great powers, great combat. My only gripe is that the jumping was a little too sticky when I was trying to hit specific spots for the Shards. But this is about as minor as gripes get.

World/mission Design: Perfect. No repetition in the main missions, intense boss battles, the world felt alive with the people flashing their cameras, with the little animations such as the dumpster shaking when hit with a shock. Just all these little things that make it come alive and feel interactive. So much love for the design seeps through every crevice of the environment. I doff my hat to the fine people working at sucker punch.

Event the side missions had quite a bit of variety. I very rarely felt like I was doing thing twice, and when I was I didn't mind at all.

This game gets a 100/100 for me. I really can't even say its perfect despite its flaws, It really has no glaring flaws. It captures the essence of fun in games perfectly and made me feel like a kid again. Its got a fun story, great art direction, and stunning sound design.

So far, GOTY 2009 and one of the top 5 games I've played this gen easily.

In the end I just started the El Train mission in the Historic District, killed everyone until you reach the first barrier of cars then abandon the mission (Which dumps you nicely back at the mission start point. Repeat a couple of times, and done nice and easy.

inFAMOUS is my first platinum trophy, and will forever be dear to my heart because of it. Also because it's a fucking amazing game. I really hope it does well, I'm pimping it to anyone that will listen.

Finally got all the shards!

Only three stunts left to go. But I think I'm going to do the stunts on my second playthrough. At least I know now what I have to do to get stunts much easier...

The count to new battery stops around 290 and every extra is pretty much worthless, lets just say that. That is why it doesn't count and it doesn't count towards the 350 shards.

All the mission shards do is to help you get faster battery cores in the beginning at the end it's pretty much worthless because it doesn't help raise it anymore and finding all the shards will have the same outcome of battery cores in the end anyways.

Practice. I started trying to zap and drop from quite high. I later found and was eventually successful off a two or three story drop.

The biggest challenge was letting go of the aiming bumper and losing the reticle so I could thunder drop instead of throwing a grenade...but...practice, sir.

You can always use precision when attempting the zap and thunder drop stunt. I'm having trouble with the sticky bomb an enemy while he's in the air stunt. Was this easy for you guys? Any tips?
