Injustice 2 - Introducing Black Manta

That victory outro:

So, is the implication from the dialogue that the Injustice Black Manta is Aqualad?
Nah, the OG Black Manta's dad was killed by Aquaman. Kaldur is still a good guy on Regime Earth as of the I2 comics. Black Manta would be using magic if it was Kaldur.

Maybe he will breath new life into the game for me. I haven't been enjoying it lately but that could be a combination of over playing and not being what I actually want which is a new MK.

He looks very cool but I'm not sure about what looks like flight cancels. Hope majority of that ends up being ability related.

Very happy with what i see so far. Was a bit worried thinking NRS was going to turn him into another zone heavy character. His fighting stance looks a bit awkward and stiff.

wasn't really blown away by his gameplay honestly, but I'm still coming off that Starfire high. win pose is badass.

Love Manta. Wish he was in Story Mode. Hope he makes the initial roster next time.

The worst thing about these trailers is that 1 or 2 of these moves are always abilities. I'm ready for an Injustice 3 where they do away with abilities/gear stats and hopefully incorporate some of these ability moves and make it a tag game lol. I think his fly move will be his trait. Looks like a lot of fun. StarFire and Manta are so far the coolest dlc characters.

Er... Hm. Ok, the lines with Aquaman felt very anti-rivalry, and just like random lines thrown together. Why didn't they namedrop each other or say something that COULDN'T be used in any other conversations?

His gameplay looks nicest. The Not-exactly-flight combos are unique, and the use of tech makes him feel like they're going more for another shade of DC Ironman / War Machine, rather than just some Atlantean dude. I didn't expect all the bladed daggers and such, but it really makes him appear as if he has ability and technique all over the place, which is good. I was surprised by the water-spot from behind the opponent (even if it's just a repurposing of the stage hazard that was in the game back from Injustice 1).

Him super... When your rival summons a wholly new aquatic area to skewer you, while feeding you to a shark... just skewering, staying in the same environment, pulling them back in, and then doing a laser beam that many of the cast could do, seems lacking. It really feels almost half-finished, or like they needed to save resources for something else.

And then that victory pose... the opposite walk direction of Ralf's Climax DM ending in KoF XIV, lol.

It's very cool, but... WHY? Why do they use something that striking and dramatic for a victory pose, while leaving his Super to look so plain? It feels entirely out of nowhere on an aquatic-based character too, especially since almost nothing else he has even suggest something like THAT would show up.

Netherrelm's design philosophies can often times just be baffling to me, and he's full of stuff that just looks like it'd be so much cooler and coherent in some other companies hands. Though I mostly know Manta via DC animation, so maybe there's a lot of nuance that fits him, that bigger fans can enjoy.

But for me, as the character I was probably most interested in directly in this fighter pack... I'm simply whelmed.

Because that's what they are. Manta's dialogue is new, but they recycle the default cast's dialogue for DLC characters

It's very cool, but... WHY? .

Because Manta is a crazy psychopath that goes way overboard and leaves death and destruction in his wake.

He will kill everyone and everything in his way to even cause a mild annoyance to Aquaman.

He is by far the most evil person in the game.

So uh, someone on Reddit with a good eye caught something interesting in that trailer. At one point, Swamp Thing air dashes with his wings. This is not currently a move or ability in the game so that means we're either getting new abilities or Swamp Thing is getting a nice buff.

But Joker's in the game.

I almost typed the samething earlier. Let's hope they stop putting abilities in the gameplay trailers
