How is this game handled with patches/updates?

Are there free updates for additional gear and/or balance changes?
Free, yeah. There's only been one patch since the game released (that I'm aware of - the one that fixed Scarecrow's wakeup attack and increased​ bronze boxes to 5000 credits).

This is my life, all I fight is batman and darkseid. Its the entire reason i've started learning aquaman. I played against foreverking a few days ago and its just too frustrating to have to open batman up like 10 times a match with supergirl and get pathetic damage when he only needs to win a few scenarios to get in and do absurd damage and knockdown leading to ambiguous crossups. get in for free with trait and all that. I used to despise superman but I find him more manageable than bats now.

I see nothing but Black Canaries no lie. last time I played I fought 2 of 'em back-to-back

(actually I see a nice variety, but more BC I think)

For context- I am crazy casual though. I'm sure you guys way higher rank then me to be frank. So you will no doubt see way less variety then me (at least on Ladder).

edit- Wait a second, I pretty much main Batman. So I guess I'm actually part of the problem lol :)

Don't worry so much about your rank. I'm surprised you're not allowed to refuse matches with WiFi players in ranked though, I just realized that last night. The online has been fantastic for me though even when playing with WiFi players. Amazing netcode.

^ Awesome just watched supes vs Black Adam.

Funny thing I've noticed. My favorite Batman combo is basically the 123 + J1 + 12 + DF1 etc etc. I've found that since focusing on Batman's combos my knowledge is transfering over to other heroes. Even if the combos are slightly different the timing and strategy sort of transfers. This morning did a practice session with Wonder Woman and practiced her F23 + J1 + etc combos. Looking forward to punishing someone online next time I hop on with her

How's the matchmaking for a casual player? Does it actually match you up with similar players or is it going to be a SF4 thing where you lose 10 in a row and stop playing? I have no PS+ so would have to buy a month, that's why I ask.

I think it's random, but even I'm over 500 though not very good at the game.

Pretty good in my experience.

Matchmaking in IJ2 has been great right out of the box. Ranked has been great as well as Casual. Although I think the criteria is much more strict in Ranked (I mean it feels even more even there). online has been great here and offline is much more in-depth then the competition.

Completed the single player and really enjoyed it, have tried all the characters out and Green Arrow has been the one I've found as most fun so will stuck with him for a bit.

In theory I could but it is negative 1.4m. I can't do any multiverse event that requires a 1000 buy in. I had over 3mil at one point but I got there by buying bronze boxes and selling the garbage.

Now as I said I'm not all into that DC stuff, so maybe I'm not so on point with some of them, or maybe some won't work because they would have different movements.

Green Arrow -----> Arsenal Would be cool and make sense with both Red Hood and Starfire being DLC. Get the Outlaws together. GA has a Red Arrow shader already btw.
Red Hood -----> Anarky/Hush I'd love Hush. I think it's unlikely tho.
Batman -----> Batgirl/Batwoman Not going to happen because of Hitbox problems.
Superman -----> Bizarro/Zod I think people would hate Zod being a skin because he already had a moveset in I1 + he is an assist in this game soo... unlikely. Bizarro would need some changes like changing his cold breath into fire which would also mean NRS had to change the Meter Burn effect of it. Dont think it'll happen. His color is in the game at least.
Starfire -----> Raven/Killer Frost I think Blackfire would make the most sense here.
Aquaman ----> Mera See both Batladies. But i would love Mera in the game.
Green Lantern ----> Sinestro Just like Zod, i think people would be pissed if he was just a skin. One of the other Green Lanterns might work, like Alan Scott. With him there would be 2 Classic DC characters, which would be nice.
Gorilla Grodd ----> Doomsday I think that would be alright except for all the psychic powers Grodd has, would feel kinda out of place for Doomsday (there's probably some Story where he does that stuff lol). There are other Gorillas that might make more sense and require less work to put in.
Bane ----> Solomon Grundy I dunno, the regular Grappling might work. But as soon as a Meterburn happens it might be a bit too muchfor Grundy.

Just my thoughts on those. I really hope that they will talk about new gear, shaders and skins soon.

Also has the Keaton-Batman logo been in the game before and just been insanely rare or has it just been added?

Wish there was a way to turn off the gear while playing my friends online but keep the abilities on. Abilities being tied to gear is stupid.

Losing shit on clash is really whack, especially on the ones that aren't even timed. Why the hell does Green Arrow lose whatever arrow he had knocked at the start of the clash...? It's just dumb.

I want to play online but I don't plan on getting the ps+ right now. Will fighting AI be helpful?

In some ways... AI will show you how to get punished by the openings you leave but it also reads inputs and punishes you in ways a human wouldn't. You won't get worse playing AI but it doesn't really teach you how to get better either.

Yeah, they did. Got an email saying they fixed my problem... I had well over 2mil credits beforehand, went down to negative 1.5m while I was trying to unlock all the skills with the save/reload glitch. After I got the email I was set back to 70k. While I had way more beforehand, I'll take being pulled out of the negative.

Pretty much, not being able to do basically any multiverse killed my desire to play. I could do the guild stuff but I was still frustrated. Now that I can do the single player shit again, I'm more willing to the play the game. Not being able to do any of the multiverse stuff legit ruined any desire I had to play the game.

I'm shit, I'd rather not get bodied online. I like thinking I'm improving by beating down the AI.

So Ed Boon tweeted "Story Mode" earlier today. Just those 2 words. Wtf?!
Could be referring to the mobile game. The story mode only goes up to the fight with Robin and the rest are locked until they add more I guess.

Does anyone play with HDR on? I'm afraid it'll add too much input lag so I've never played with it on more than a couple of minutes. Tonight I set up my tv's HDR settings properly (I think anyhow, I used this video). I'm playing on a KS8000, what HDR setting does everyone use within the game's video settings? I set it to 2000.

edit: The picture didn't really look different in a good way so I just decided to turn off HDR. Maybe I am just used to having my tv settings all over the place.

I used to play on 1 ms monitor for the laag then switched to my KS9500, its not that huge of a difference and the input lag is very acceptable.
HDR is amazing, the colors and lighting are very noticeable especially in colorful stages like fortress of solitude and gorilla city.

As a complete and utter casual fighting game player (the last one I bought was SF4 and have played a little bit of SF5), this game is fucking fantastic. I've completed the story mode, done a ton of multiverse stuff, and now doing more multiverse stuff but having the AI fight for me whilst I work and press X occasionally. I haven't even touched online yet.

I'm not gonna lie, I do prefer the Street Fighter gameplay, not by a lot though, but as a whole package Capcom can't even compete. It's a shame, I'd love a Capcom game with the content and replayability of something like Injustice 2.

Interesting so no mention of fixing the motherbox glitch in patch notes I can see. But also not seeing a Balance pass?

Which leads me to this- been branching out a bit more experimenting with more characters in the lab. But I'm finding issues with some of the 'less popular' heroes. Like Supergirl for instance- she lacks basic combos. What I mean basic, simple, 3-button combo strings. But I love she can freeze folks, teleport, etc. So thinking to bring her to online after I master her BnB (bread-n-butter combo). But I'm finding her combo strings to be quite expensive meter bar wise. This is all feedback from like a 1 hour practice session though in the lab

But another thought, she doesnt seem to hit hard like Superman does w/o burning meter. Again, just all thoughts from a short 1 hr lab session.

offline play is quite amazing for some reason. I hate the 'modifiers' but I love the roleplay text on the multiverses.

Dont be too shy bout getting online though. I play online every couple of days. I am actually doing quite well (but it's Batman though).

The AI hax though (reading player inputs). I actually think playing actual folks online is much easier. but nothing wrong with playing offline if that's where your passion is! But if you feel like you need to mix it up maybe try dipping into Casual / Ranked. This game doesn't have seasonal awards which I actually find refreshing. I dont feel pressured to hit a certain rank. I just hop on and have fun. But I always start a party by myself to make sure I dont get trolled. I am interested in hooking up a mic for some KOTH sometime

Poison Ivy - Fixed a camera issue when Nightshade's projectile interrupted Batman's throw on Poison Ivy

Red Hood - Hammer Fury (Hard, Hard, Medium while Electric Hammers is active) starts up 1 frame later
Red Hood - Fixed bug that could sometimes cause Supermove to auto-correct after the cinematic
Red Hood - When Low Spin Parry is active Red Hood is now considered to be ducking
Red Hood - Quick Shot Character Power can now be clashed
Red Hood - Shrapnel Blast Gear Ability can now be clashed
Red Hood - Shrapnel Blast damage decreased to 6% base damage (from 10%)
Red Hood - Shrapnel Blast MeterBurn damage has increased to 10% base damage (from 6%)
Red Hood - Akimbo Blaze MeterBurn Gear Ability is now recovers 23 frames faster

Superman - Air Heat Vision follow up from Rising Grab is now a hard knockdown to prevent it from being punishable on hit in certain circumstances (This does not apply in Completive / Tournament Mode)

Scarecrow - Fixed camera issue when Swamp Thing is interrupted during the startup of Slinking Slough Gear Ability with an Away + Hard attack

Wonder Woman - Fixed a bug could cause Down + Medium to have a misaligned hit region if done when right after an opponent has jumped over you or switched sides

so much good changes here. But wish they'd rework Wonder Woman. It's stupid she cant Air Dash reliably w/o using that gear ability. I want her character power redone. I want an Air Dash. And maybe make Amalthea Protection a base skill (not a gear ability) so she can fight off zoners better.

Also Deadshot still unfun to play against even offline against bot

still cant recall fighting against a BA online it's the weirdest thing ever. Maybe I am truly blessed. hence I have no thoughts on him at all.
 
My amount of source crystals seems to have increased, might have to spend them tonight in case they're a bug.

Edit: Not a bug, source crystals are now rewarded past level 60 and have been retroactively added if you're past that point. Not going to rush now.
