I don't get the issue

Why bring over a character from Mortal Kombat to Injustice when Mortal Kombat already has it's own games and Sub-Zero has been in everyone of them? Spawn is still cool but I sincerely hope that any guest characters are still comic book characters and not just Warner Bros/Mortal Kombat characters.

Plus as Compbros said, sometimes there are characters that already exist in the universe or potentially new characters that could have been a better fit than a character that will never canonically exist in the universe and might never return for a new game.

This is the DC game, there are so many heroes and villains to choose from that should have priority. Keep MK characters to MK. It would suck to get Sub Zero instead of Red Hood or whoever fans been begging for.

Spawn and other comic characters? Okay sure whatever but please keep MK out, they have their own successful series

Imo, Injustice 1 and MK9 had an amazing roster. MKX and if that leak is real Injustice 2 have very underwhelming rosters. Not much diversity and a lot of same old.

Yeah, it's not a hard viewpoint to understand, especially in the case of putting MK characters in this series.

Personally, I'm cool with superhero guests in the game, but really hate the idea of putting in an MK character.

With MK it makes a little more sense, it's a hugely popular fighting game series, it's a cool novelty to have Alien or Jason or whoever in there. Even though four guests is complete overkill.

With Injustice, you're dealing with an enormous universe with endless numbers of characters, so many that some people are always going to be disappointed with the roster either way. And they just keep making that worse and rubbing salt in the wound by adding Scorpion and fucking Sub-Zero, like having an MK character in a fighting game - that's also developed by the exact same team - is some kind of special thing. I don't like Spawn but at least his inclusion kind of makes sense.

It also does no favours for Injustice trying to forge its own identity, I remember before the first game came out everyone was saying it was MK with DC characters, they said it wasn't, then they put Scorpion in.

Why waste a slot on someone who has nothing to do with the franchise or the universe for some cheap cash-in. There are dozens of DC characters that deserve that spot over a guest character.

I'm currently trying to platinum MKXL and I can't understand why they'd wait that long to add more characters.

Cindel, Nightwolf, Stryker, Kabal etc.... They could easily add more, I understand that fact but it just kind of.... doesn't make sense to wait that long

I feel your pain lol, I've always liked her character but she just doesn't seem to be popular.

She's got a new series starting in Feb though, which is nice.

We'll be getting Spawn and Sub-Zero. That should tell you enough about the roster. The only characters allowed are the ones in high demand, ones directly connected to them (like villains that aren't popular in and of themselves, f.e. WW villains). characters pushed by DC, and characters Ed Boon personally likes.

I mean you could offer something like "full gear" packs which take up all slots and effectively turn the character visually into something else. You could turn Green Lantern into Sinestro or any other Yellow Lantern, you could turn Batman into Batwoman/Cassandra Cain, Supergirl into Power Girl, Captain Cold into Victor Freeze,etc.

There's a lot of possibilities here that could offer insane amounts of customization without requiring too much thought in terms of gameplay and balancing and they could easily charge money for it (I know I'd gladly pay for something like that if it's effectively a skin/revoice).

Problem with some of that is you need to keep the hit/hurt boxes the exact same. Batwoman on Batman? I dont think so

If it's effectively a voice and skin change, then I don't see why it would be a problem. Animations, Hit/Hurtboxes and the overall character size should remain the same.

And it doesn't have to be Batwoman that was just me spitballing ideas but you get what I'm saying.
