Injustice 2 Roster Discussion & Speculation Thread

There is what? So are we getting Spawn & Constantine still?

Constantine polled higher than Black Manta (who made it in) and they can't just not put Spawn in if he was the winner of that poll, wtf?

It seems the polls are pointless as most of those were at times where the game was surely well into development, and they weren't waitng for the results to make any decisions because it would be pretty far along already. He tweeted that seemingly random Raiden and Sub Zero one couple months before the game was announced last June.

Ah, I see. I know Boon likes to do polls, but why bother having the guest character one if none would end up in the game? This is why I'm thinking two seasons for sure (going by today's silhouettes).

Boon tweeted a slightly different silhouette image

Can someone explain to me what exactly this AI Simulator Mode shown in the stream was? I watched the stream and I still didn't get it, lol. Is this an online or offline mode? I do create an AI fighter team and other players play against it? And I can fight against AI teams that other players created? Can I fight my own team?

It was confusing. I thought it was gonna allow you to level up your characters by setting them up with AI that you configure. Or something like that.

That's basically what it is. You create a team of three Bots and those bots fight other AI in random battles and gain actual character levels while doing it. I don't remember if they unlock gear or not though.

I think you get the currency (not sure what it's called, I'll check the archive later) whatever it's called. Not sure about gear though, guessing not.

Seems to me like there'll be a season 2 for sure. They did say it was gonna be supported much longer than the first game was.

What worries me though is even with these character packs as they are now, the game will be supported longer than MKX. MKX had 2 character packs whereas here we've got 3. I truly hope they continue to support afterwards.

Interesting! That sounds like something that would be on a mobile app.

Mass Effect: Andromeda has a similar thing where you send "strike teams" on missons, and if they succeed they gain experience and you get rewards for the single player portion of the game--you can do this in game or on a mobile phone app.

If this AI simulator mode is something we can tweak on the Injustice 2 mobile game, then that would make me very happy--I could level up my characters when I'm at work!

That would be weird if they did unlock gear, considering they went out of their way to prevent people earning stuff in local multiplayer. Just starting up one bot match after another doesn't seem that much more different than cheesing local multiplayer. I can see thing as something people just use Xbox streaming/PS4 remote play to run in a window on their computer while doing other stuff rather than having Netflix on in the background or something. I'll probably end up doing that a bit, unless you have a ton of menu prompts.

I'm kinda baffled why this mode isn't set up to where you actually fight other people's teams asynchronously yourself.

I just noticed that the OP is wrong. It says "The Game will get 9 DLC characters in total.", but that's incorrect, it's 10 total - 3 packs with 3 characters each + Darkseid.

Darkseid is a preorder bonus, not part of the DLC packs.

Yet Darkseid is a DLC character. He's not part of the base roster and you have to download him, therefore he is, quite literally, downloadable content. The way of acquisition doesn't matter. My point still stands.

(Also, it's very likely he will go on sale individually as DLC after a certain period of time)

I believe op was merely directly quoting WB marketing, and the way game was advertised? If it was worded differently people would think he was part of the 9 characters available post-release through ultimate or season pass (source: A shit ton of questions by Gaf, Reddit and Twitter users) lol.

Then call it "9 post-launch DLC characters", that's fine too. I'm just having an issue with the "9 in total", because it implies Darkseid is not DLC, which he is.

"10 DLC characters total, Darkseid is free preorder DLC or available for purchase at later date (not included in ultimate edition unless preordered)"

Would that be less of an issue?

Yeah, I see people on Reddit confused all the time if Darkseid is for every version or just limited to the Ultimate edition.

Yeah, unless specified in the most semantical, surgically precise way people are going to buy the ultimate edition later on and flip their shit when Darkseid remains greyed out on their screen hahaha.

I would be fine with that, yes.

Could also make it:
9 post-launch DLC characters that are included in the Ultimate Edition/Season Pass, Darkseid is a pre-order bonus and not included in any edition (unless pre-ordered).

Or:
DLC characters are:
Darkseid (Pre-Order DLC not included in any season pass or ultimate edition packages unless pre-ordered)
9 characters coming in 3 for 3 packs, all of which are included in the Ultimate Edition/Season Pass

As said, just the "in total" is what's iffy to me. :p

They even label them like that though almost every game I see at walmart that's new has a launch day bonus sticker on the cover. People that buy games are just some of the dumbest mofos on the planet.

I'm assuming the left out (Constantine, Spawn, Buffy) are meant for a season 2.

Those are the ones they have easy access to (rights wise). Not sure about Terminator and Hellboy.

Just getting around to watching today's stream and I don't know if I'm in the minority here, but this AI battle thing is amazing and in my opinion groundbreaking.

As I mentioned above, I didn't fully grasp what that mode was actually supposed to be and I apparently wasn't the only one, lol.
So, if I get this now right: It's kind of a spectator mode in which you can also level up characters and earn game money/credit and gear?

Can I let my team fight against another team that I created or does it have to be made by other players?

Weird that Ed Boon didn't include Scorpion since he is his favorite character and even made him on his studio logo.

Because Scorpion was DLC in Injustice 1, and Ed Boon never repeats DLC characters as DLC in further games.

Which is why Batgirl, Lobo, Zod, Zatanna and Martian Manhunter also are out for sure.

Well I don't like this. MKX missed the characters from the previous game eventhough that you fight them in MKX like Baraka, Rain etc.. which were even playable on PC through mods and had full set of moves. MKX Mobile adds all those characters and even characters not available anywhere else. They should really make the console versions of both MX and Injustice 2 as compelte and rich as ther Mobile version.

So if I'm getting it right I haven't seen the stream the new AI mode is like how you can battle against an Amiibo in smash or am I totally wrong?

That's pretty much a spot on description. You can't play another team you've created because if that were the case then you could just make a weak ass team to pummel to get free gear haha. I haven't played the mode yet obviously, but from what we saw here is what I've gathered:

1. There is a strategy to this mode so it won't be completely mindless and simple. If anything I would compare it to somewhat of a turned based (I'm trying to refrain from saying mobile lol) game where you're basically building characters from the ground up in a way as in how they play and what they use vs. characters built by other opponents online.

2. You get rewards from this mode depending on how well you do and considering this game is going to be a major grind fest (which I like because it means there's a lot of shit to earn), this will allow an extra avenue for getting this like gear, currency and loot boxes and player xp. You can also fast forward the matches to speed up the process.

3. Unless I misunderstood, you can play this mode WITHOUT PS+ OR XBOX LIVE (need double confirmation). If you don't have or want either of those, this is a great way to earn more gear.

4. If you set your combo attributes high, watching the matches can be a good learning tool for newer players to learn combos.

5. If there are characters you want to level up or want more gear for, but are lower priority for you to learn or practice or compete with, this is a good way to level them up and get better gear.

Thanks for that clarification. :)
Regarding point 3 I really hope we don't need PS+.

To be honest, I still would prefer a simple spectator mode or just a CPU versus CPU option in Versus Mode.

Did the game leak? I found a bunch of character intro videos and it's all stuff I've never seen before.

There's a ton going around from people who recorded stuff at that event recently. I think they're slowly releasing stuff to keep people coming back to their channels haha.

I saw a theory that the one to the right of Black Manta might be Terra as you can see goggles on their head and they appear to be wearing a short jacket with an exposed midriff

Maybe as a sort of mix between these looks:
I'd love that. And id hope we get at least one female character per pack

Just re-watched the AI Battle Simulator portion of the watchtower stream sounds kind of cool, but you don't actually get to play, you just watch..

You set up AI for 3 characters and they can earn you gear, currency, mother boxes (not sure about shaders, I don't think so), and XP once you set them up as your defenders.

Do we know how much is the dlc pack is gonna cost? wondering if the deluxe edition is worth it, considering i don't care about the exclusive shaders.
