Introducing G-SYNC Pulsar tech

Dang, was kinda hoping the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN would get any of this. Not a deal-breaker or anything, just would be nice.

I'm looking at an ultra-wide OLED at the end of this year, but the only listed ones here supporting it are these huge 49 inch monsters. 39 is the biggest I'd go for ultra-wide on my desk setup.

Better yet, just avoid the disambiguate and quote the vertical pixel count unless outlier format. Marketing has fucked this up over the years to the point this has been debated over and over again.

using the vertical res is indeed the best option for anything that is 16:9.
but even if you have to use something else, we already have ED, HD, FHD, QHD, UHD... which cover all mainstream wide-screen resolutions, namely 480p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2160p.

High praise from hardware unboxed

But I'm wondering, any comparisons against OLED yet? Pulsar seems more like a fix to LCD so how does OLED fare against it when its pixel response is much faster?

Their video had slides that showed it vs 240 hz QD OLED and this tech looked sharper.

I think they said you needed to get up to 750 hz OLED to match clarity

Pixel response isn't really the main factor here. At the end of the day, OLED is still running sample and hold which is the main culprit.

Sample and hold OLED without BFI isn't going to look this crisp until you hit framerates closer to 1000 fps.

this is impressive but once you go past the pulsar tech, you are still dealing with shitty LCD tech. I think you also need to run the game at very high frame rate to take advantage of this not just running any games in a 360hz container?

Its 100% targeting more hardcore esport types usually playing on the fastest TN panels

I think as of right now this tech is not for the vast majority of gamers though that clarity is crazy

I am thinking of all the possible use cases for myself since I am not a esport guy. Old emulator or 2D games with LSFG and adaptive FG with target set to 360fps. Even then, beyond pulsar you still gotta deal with LCD limitations. I wonder if they got any mini LED monitors with pulsar or they are all LCD only.

The first 4 coming are just regular old IPS displays
