Introducing G-SYNC Pulsar tech

It´s been very quiet about this.... :messenger_frowning_
People hating but you've got a point.

This feature should be all over the place, but for some reason there's radio silence. Is it still in development? That sort of motion clarity with VRR is basically the final nail in the coffin for CRTs, at least as far as modern games go.

Yup but have seen some hope it would make its way into OLED somehow

OLED do not have a backlight that needs strobing. If you want great motion resolution just aim for the highest refresh rate on your OLED monitor.

For example I play the recent doom remaster at 360 hz on my qd oled monitor, it looks absolutely sick.

The Pulsar tech aims to provide even better motion resolution in a modern flat monitor but it still does not quite look as good as a CRT.

CRT lacks HDR, freesync, 4K, perfect blacks but is still king when it comes to motion. Pulsar is aiming to finally bring that to the current table

Impressions from Richard when DF visited Nvidia booth at Gamescom

Seems like very impressive tech for motion clarity. Next monitor upgrade I might wait on this tech.

So...... yeah, starts to smell like a troubling project. No pulsar monitor out yet from what i´ve seen :messenger_frowning_

Wow, this is so cool.

Would this work with 5060?

Can I later upgrade the screen with AMOLED+ /SMOLED+ /MLD / plasma layer?

PS
I was considering buying 4090Ti (out of respect to Huang, his leather jacket alone is something), but now that 5060Ti is on par with it, I think 5060Ti is a better buy, no?

With G-SYNC Pulsar, the clarity and visibility of content in motion is significantly improved, enabling you to track and shoot targets with increased precision
No longer will users have to choose between the smooth variable refresh, or the improved motion clarity of Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) – our new G-SYNC Pulsar technology delivers all the benefits of both, working in perfect harmony to deliver the definitive gaming monitor experience.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Whoa.

Are they simulating or screenshoting a specific scenario under the worst case of possible conditions when zoomed several hundred percent, or are they just playing the worst fucking videogame ever made?

That blurry first pic is because it's in motion. Modern displays have low motion resolution and this Pulsar tech results in better motion clarity.

Here you can see how it takes a lot of Hz to get good motion clarity.

Is it worth going to IPS though? I watched the conference last night and it seems that was the only type of panels available. We are in the hundreds of frames now with dlss and frame generation. I don't think I would go back from OLED if given the choice for gaming. Great that this exists though.

The videos coming out make this tech look smoother than OLED, look forward to people actually getting their hands on these displays and real testing but from the HU video it looks promising

I am a bit confused by this. Last year's LG TV's like the G4 and C4 will support Pulsar but it is still not released?
I think this is LCD only, doesn't work for OLED

Man, what is the closest thing to OLED now? Mini LED? I am looking to get a 5K ultrawide this year if there is one that support this.

Not shitting on the thread but I have some input regarding "RoG". I have 2 RoG PG27UQ's. They lasted about three years and both failed roughly at the same time. Turns out, the monitors have a heating problem. Spent over 2k a piece on them. I still have them just not sure how to go about getting them fixed. Awesome monitors but yeah. REALLY need to make sure there's proper heating on these high tech GSYNC/High Hertz monitors to include more than regular dusting of the intakes otherwise they will overheat and fuktc up the circuitry/PSU/main board of the unit. Get a warranty!

love OLED but... if this really does drastically improve motion clarity, might be fun to mix it up and go LCD for my next TV

Why are OLED's listed in the OP?

Sorry to tag you all but in the Digital Foundry video they asked about possibly trying to get this to work with OLED and NVidia said they are looking into that and its for sure on their radar

Around the 25:15 mark if timestamp fails

I'm confused why this got bumped when it's a 2 year old thread and the alienware 3225 monitor that I also have was mentioned so many times when afaik he definitely doesn't support pulsar haha

I haven't been following this but I wonder if this will have any of the tradeoffs like ULMB. I don't use ULMB because of the lowered brightness and because it is more difficult to tell this in motion for me. I'm usually a nitpicker but motion blur has never been one of the things that I get hung up on. I think it's a competitive fps/pvp thing which while huge, is not my thing.

I'm leaning towards the AOC model since I've had good experiences with their stuff even though they are generally cheaper than other brands. I think I might wait a bit for reviews.

Did you not experience CRTs as a kid? A lot of people that I meet who also don't get hung up on motion clarity is because they either didn't experience it at all with CRTs, or they just forgot what it looked like.

G-SYNC Pulsar monitors are available starting January 7, delivering over 1,000 Hz effective motion clarity through variable frequency backlight strobing paired with smooth G-SYNC Variable Refresh Rate.

The 4 debut Pulsar monitors also include G-SYNC Ambient Adaptive technology, including a built-in light sensor that gives you the option to automatically tune color temperature and brightness, for optimal viewing at any hour of the day or night.

Oh right, the first post in the thread was like two years ago. It took me a while to notice that and was surprised to see Leonidas in the comments. Whatever happened to the guy? He didn't get banned?

WHEN WILL PEOPLE STOP CALLING 1440p 2K? Stop it! 2k is 1080p! 1440p is 2.5k, or QHD! not 2k!

...tangent over 🙃
Better yet, just avoid the disambiguate and quote the vertical pixel count unless outlier format. Marketing has fucked this up over the years to the point this has been debated over and over again.
