Note 5 is a much better phone. I was right there with you wanting to love the phone and had the same issues. I wonder why only some of us are having this happen? Doesn't seem isolated to one retailer.

Can you all post some pics of your phones? I'm still on the fence about the phone (I hate the size but love the design aspect of Moto Maker) but would consider getting one if there were a pretty enough color combination.
Same, mine only seriously heats up playing 3D games for long periods or doing GPS for a while (in my case 1 hour at a time).
Oddly, GPS doesn't make it that hot. Drove around tonight with Google Maps open for about 20 minutes and it was only mildly warm. The problem seems to be largely isolated to web browsing and some other apps.
I had this same issue with the Nexus 6. Has to be some defect in Moto's manufacturing process. It may not be every phone, but there are plenty of people on reddit and other forums complaining about it, so it's certainly not isolated.
If it didn't heat up I'd be in love with this phone. The display is amazing, the hands-free features are nice, and it just looks great with that wood back. Obviously the lack of any bloatware is amazing. And the size is perfect. But it's literally making my palms sweat.

Sorry to hear that. Mine definitely gets warm after using it for 20+ minutes, but it doesn't bother me at all. Also performance doesn't take a hit which is the best part imo.
I just love knowing I can upgrade anytime I want owning the phone. Maybe next year the Nexuses will be amazing or even the next gen Moto X, I never wanna sign onto a contract again.

Sound also screws up if you rotate the screen during playback. It stutters.
What frequency is it? Because this happened to me but only on one app. For every single song I've played it's been fine.

Finally received my phone (sorta have to pick it up from fedex).
If anybody is getting dicked around by Motorola with delays and everything I'll tell you what I did.
- Call CS, ask for a shipping date.
- If it's past that ask for expedited shipping (which they'll say they cant do)
- Ask to speak to an order admin, if none available ask for a supervisor
- Tell them to mark your phone priority at the warehouse so it's bumped up to be picked up asap, if they tell you they cant they're lying (they lie a lot)
I called Tuesday at 6pm EST and they told me I wouldnt get it till the 24th (orig date was 18th) did this, by 11pm my phone was picked up by fedex and in my city today.
I hope it's fine so I dont have to deal with them again.

Got mine set up last night.
Liking it so far. The size isn't as intimidating as I thought. The small bezels really help.
I guess I'm just over getting 'wowed' by new hardware. Not a fault of the phone, just diminishing returns now.

I will say that the red leather feels really nice. Looks great too. Wish it was as bright as what the MotoMaker showed, but it still looks really good. My wife has a red leather back on her G4 and this looks considerably more premium.
The gold accents are pretty subtle, definitely not as popping as the iPhone gold.

Just got it switched over to Sprint so I could use it until I switch over to ATT.
Everything seems fine except...they didnt do the etching. God dammit it sat there for all this time and they couldnt do the etching? Worthless. Guess I'll call and try to get a refund for that.

Yep. Everything else is right just no engraving. I wont send it back to them either cuz then theyll keep it for another month.

If it makes you feel any better, an engraving will completely tank your resale value. There's one on Swappa (2014) with an engraving that has been up for over a month now. Other devices around the same price keep getting bought but that one is still there. Mint condition other than the engraving.

This was probably never going to be resold but I guess silver linings and all. I'll just try to get a refund for my engraving and now have the ability to resell if I want. Wait.
I forgot I didnt pay for engraving on the X, it was the G 3rd I paid for engraving.

Their support really is awful. It's pretty astounding. I'm dreading the headache I'll have getting the extra one I ordered returned. Going to hop on Swappa tonight and see if I'd be better off just selling it there and recoup the cost. Haven't even opened it yet.
Do these phones even have decent resale value? Figured it wouldn't be worth it since the phone is already so cheap.

The 16GB 2014s are hovering around $220-$250 on Swappa. Which is a significant drop from what they retailed at last year this time, but for a phone that's currently going for $299 new that's not bad.

It's almost legendary how bad it is. They just updated my estimated ship date to the 21st and for the moto g i I received on the 3rd they just marked it shipped. jesus.
Plus side.
Turbo Charge is badass.
Wave to Wake is badass
Carrier free is badass.
Blue Accent with Charcoal Ash Wood is badass.
It can get a little hot but nothing I'm not used to.
Plus the slim charger I got with it is REALLY slim, can easily slip it in the pocket with the phone.
Interesting, do the 2013s have any resale value? I try to keep to a 2 year refresh cycle :x Kinda hoping this phone lasts me longer than that honestly.

Yeah bought at the same time from Motorola the slim P4000 Charger, it was 8 dollars when bought with a phone. YMMV on getting them to honor it after youve gotten your phone.

My phone smells like a Wilson's shop and I love it. Yesterday was my first full day with it and I was pretty happy with the battery life. I charged overnight and unplugged at 6:30AM. When I went to bed at 10:30 last night, I had 53% of my battery left with just over two hours of screen on time.

Yeah, the battery life has been great for me as well. Unplug mine at 6:30 every morning & keep it unplugged until 11pm & there always plenty of battery left.
Definitely the best phone I've ever owned. And this is coming from a Galaxy S6 & an LG G3 before that.

i think battery is fine on G3. the issue is the current android OS that's sucking the battery on it. i want Marshmallow!
also not really a fan of the default camera app. the G3 one was good.

Enjoying my phone. Beautiful screen, UI so damn smooth.
Turbocharging is badass. (almost) 0 to 100% in like an hour. AN HOUR!
Now I look at my HTC EVO 4G LTE and wonder how I used that thing for so long. Plan to keep the SD card in it, clear off most apps and use it as an Airplane Mode Spotify Player.

hm. how does one get wave to wake to work. i think after i turned on battery saver mode it disabled it. but i have battery saver mode off now.
Open the Moto app, click the sparkles on the top right, and then select Actions.

My bottom sensors never work for wave to wake. I either double tap the screen or shake the phone a little to activate the move to wake.
