HOW ABOUT MIDNIGHTER??? There are already too many Batmans in the game to begin with.
 
It honestly isn't half bad. I like the role system a lot, for example you can pick Predator which gives you bonus XP/gold for hero kills and just go ham ganking from minute 1 if that's what you want. Combat is as spammy as League's and you'll rarely see the beautiful precision of a clean Dota kill but overall I've enjoyed the handful of matches I've played. While it does look a bit plain it's also nice that, unlike Summoner's Rift, looking at the map doesn't make my eyes hurt.

The grind is absolutely disgusting though.
 
I wouldn't call Dead Island a MOBA, but it's a pretty fun game to run through with a few friends. WASD movement controls, left click for attack/right click for secondary attack. It's got some spells that go on cooldown and you have to press a key and stuff to disable/gap close/do burst damage. It's more akin to an isometric brawler/beat em up I think. Anyways, if you like coop games in general, I think running through it a few times with some buddies is a good time. They do have a mode which is 4 v 4 v 4 that's more similar to a MOBA but doesn't really have static creep equilibriums and all that jazz, instead it's randomized events that the teams contest, kind of like a capture the flag free for all. It's still in closed beta I believe and it looks like it's adopting a similar model to F2P games where you can unlock mostly everything through playing but if you want it earlier you can just straight up purchase it. I don't expect it to replace any existing MOBA game and I don't really think it's trying to, it's just adopting a few mechanics from the genre. I posted something similar to this in the Dota 2 thread a while ago but I was just redirected here so why not.

Thanks. I'm definitely interested in trying this out with a few friends down the road, if just for novelty's sake. I like the idea of it, even if the flavor doesn't really strike me.

I had my reservations about it as well and I really had low expectations, but the games are quick (10-25 mins) and it has a bit of variety to it without being overwhelming (unlike most in the genre.) I'll definitely be keeping an eye on development. Content wise, it's a bit barebones right now but they just rolled out a pretty sizable patch that I'll probably get to later. The more I play the more I feel the MOBA tag for this game is misleading.

Dawngate actually does sound kind of interesting in some ways (the role selection and the karma awarding process) but I have no desire to get invested in another MOBA. I hate the League F2P model and I'm already dealing with the grind to avoid it in one game (Infinite Crisis).

The American qualifiers for The International 4 start today for anyone interested.

The prize pool is nearing 4 million dollars.

Sadly, the Americas are probably the weakest qualifier, but it should still be fun with the hub setup they're doing, where it's basically a NA house and a EU house both broadcasting all the games at the same time with lots of casters, players, and community celebs just hanging out.

Probably the best place to get a quick glance at it all. Going to be a lot of games over the next 8 hours.

Please tryhard, go all out in soloqueue whenever there is a match with LCS players.
We have a unique opportunity in e-sports that is not available in normal sports, in that we can directly help our athletes. I really feel like there is a possibility for NA to do well at worlds. And we can help our players out by making solo queue a living hell for them. Jungler constantly ganking, focusing them in teamfights, whatever it takes. Make them wish this was the Korean ladder.

I say this because I hear about how troll NA solo queue is, and how its not a good enviornment. Yeah we don't give a fck, but when it comes down to it, when we really care, we can make it amazing. ( You can still troll in other games, just not with LCS players.)
Basically, when there is an LCS player in the queue, the mentality isn't: Shit, well, I'm probably going to get rekt. To something more along the lines of: Guys LCS player here, lets do our part in beating the Koreans. Make this guy wish he was in a scrim, making him regret queueing up, to the point that they go to scrims to relax.

When they go to Korea, they should be thinking: WTF this is it? This is nothing, compared to what we had in solo queue the last few months.

this is pretty fun to watch and the casters are doing a pretty ok job
i find myself missing a bunch of things that league puts in the ui tho, but it's probably not necessary

oh actually I just remembered that dota allows for in-game spectating of events so you can look over the information when you want to

I can see them adding Deathstroke when the game gets released. He's really famous right now because of Arrow.
It needs more female characters *cough*Supergirl*cough*.

New patch on Wednesday should fix a lot of bugs.

Yeah DS is probably a lot higher on the list than most characters. They've been pushing him pretty hard the last year or so. Between Arrow, Arkham Origins, Son of Batman and the comics he's been getting a lot of attention.

Supergirl was one of the champions that was leaked a while back so I can see her being next.

Played IC after I haven't played in awhile, UI is getting better. Shazam still pretty beast. Game isn't the batman fest I thought it would eventually turn into, they did a good job making all the characters appealing.

UI Is definitely still a work in progress, creative director said he isn't happy with the UI in and out of game so I can see it being improved.

Same. Glad it's not a game about 5 Batmans v 5 Batmans.

- Casting time increased from 0.2s to 0.35s.
- Damage reduced from 30/50/70/90/110 to 25/45/65/85/105.

- Corrected an issue with lifestealing. Now only the initial target hit will proc lifesteal on this ability.

- The healing debuff from this ability now stacks properly with healing debuffs from items.

I tried out Smite with some friends this weekend. It was OK. Some of the skins are HoN tier. Hi-Rez can eat shit for putting Tribes skins in doe.
