Invincible Official Trailer - Amazon Prime animation based on Robert Kirkman's comic

Good grief, how much of the show was in that trailer????
Considering it has scenes that don't happen until the third TBP, it has plenty of material it can pull from. Unless they skip a ton of stuff then that trailer is only fraction of what happened in those 3 TBPs. I'm more surprised they didn't feature fan favorite Allen in the trailer.

Hyped for this.

Saw Battle Beast in the trailers!

I hope this is rated mature. Some of the best parts are very dark. Some of the best stories in comics this century.

Looks ok. They've def made Mark a bit whimpier than I remember him being in the comics. The gore is on point.

The voices honestly sound kind of terrible, Simmons was a bad choice for Omni-Man.

Invincible was one of my all time fav comics of the last 15 years, don't know how to feel about this.

Also, lmfao of course they made Rex black.

First 3 episodes are out.. and it's alright? Animation quality can be pretty bad and the story has not really gripped me yet.. but I will keep watching for now.

Only seen the first one so far. Animation is less choppy than the trailer but nothing special. The Mauler Twins fight was rough but the post-credits fight was ok.

Doesn't look very interesting from the trailer.

So it's just some generic Marvel/DC type stuff but with more blood?

I don't know the story so the end of ep 1 was a total shocker.

But DAMN they wrap this shit with some sappy ass YA four quadrant nonsense. And it seems silly that no one knows this kids "secret identity" when he hangs out 100 feet above his own house :p

The in-universe explanation is no one ever looks up. The comic never had anyone leaving impact craters in their backyard though. Besides Eve, doesn't even wear a mask. Clearly no shits are given about secret identities.

We can have all the violence we want but we need to appease twitter and give Eve ugly shorts. xD

Animation so far is the typical american comic animation. Not bad, but nowhere near as good as anime can get, both from an animation as well as detailed artstyle standpoint.

Story so far also nothing more than look we made a slight twist on the dc comic heroes.

The comic gets a lot of praise, so I am willing to watch the first season, but as with Kirkmans Walking Dead, it's not as special as people make it out to be. At least so far.

It's, ok.

As someone who was a big fan of the comics there's a lot here to like, and a lot here to hate.

There's a lot of ridiculous race/gender swaps here and there for characters, clearly because Amazon felt the show wouldn't be diverse enough without them. The story seems to really drag in comparison to the comics that you read at your own pace. The art style is VERY plain, and the animation can at times look very low frame. There is also the overuse of some very unsightly 3d models. I'm not against the use of 3d in animation, but there are better less noticeable ways to do it and this show doesn't incorporate any of them.

The voice acting is also kind of stiff, and the choices for some characters voices are truly awful. Seth Rogen had no business being cast as Allen the Alien. The dude can't act and he just made the character sound dumb. There were a few woke signalers in here too.

On the plus side they kept the gore in, and there are some really good action scenes here and there. I hope it gets better.

I'm just amazed at the incredible gore and language yet it is totally chaste with regards to sex. Americans......

The comic was always like this too. Every sex scene did everything it could to not show any bits or pieces, not even a nipple. Even during a certain event that I'm not going to spoil, it's mostly glossed over to not really show any explicit nudity.

However we'll get really detailed depictions of bodies literally being torn apart, eviscerated and decapitated.

Just wanted to come in and say I don't know what Rex is, but he for sure isn't black. He is the same complexion as Wakka from FFX and I have no idea what you'd consider Wakka because he isn't black either:

Anyway just wanted to point that out. The rest of the thread continue on with the harsh critiques.

The voice actor for rex sounds like the pillow fucking magician guy from Big Mouth.....a natural progression of that character actually :p

I've enjoyed the first 3 eps, the end of ep 1 legit shook me, wasn't expecting it. The show has some pumping audio for streaming too, makes my subwoofer sing.

I really like Mark as a character but I'm not feeling any of the love elements so far.

I'm reading the comic and having a good time.

I read Irredeemable a few years ago and that was really good up until it gets crazy near the end.

I'm hoping they can increse the animation budget if the show is successful. There are some cool perspectives and choreography, but it's just not fluid enough. I need my cartoons to look lush.

Couldn’t get through the first episode

This is an interesting perspective. To you it probably came across as a light hearted superhero romp and that's all(unless you read the comic). That's fascinating to me.

It would be like me watching the 90s Berserk anime and stopping before the final episode. It would appear to be your standard Knights and Kingdoms story that way.

Loving it. No real complaints. I read a bit of the comic back in the day and this seems to be following it very closely. Gender and race swaps aside. It had been long enough to where I forgot the initial twist so that was a good time. Very brutal. I'm looking forward to more. Every Friday?

I've never read the comic and I don't want to know specifics, but I hope all the dangling plot threads come together at some point. The show is so DC derivative it's hard to tell if it is telling a coherent story or just riffing on classic DC characters.

I gave it a shot, but, all the teenage stuff just makes me cringe. I also got the feel the production is pretty woke, so I decided to actually read a comic book for once and yup, Invincible's a clumsy useless dumbass in the animated show while he's much more capable in the comic and character races got swapped. I might actually finish reading the comic book, but I'll pass on the animation, I'll just watch the violent bits.

Not all that woke. I hate that shit and there are only a few bits. I read a bit of the comic and I prefer the pacing of the show of mark growing into his powers.

Rex 's skin is darker than Wakka's. Theyre not the same complexion. Now there are other very dark skin races than blacks, so that's a fair point.

I wish Battle Beast looked and sounded more feral.

Not gonna lie, it sounds like you're just arguing semantics to not be proven wrong. In the show Rex is a tan/brown guy with orange hair and in the game Wakka is a tan/brown guy with orange hair. Both are dudebro and both obnoxious/annoying as fuck.

Literally nothing in my statement has anything to do with semantics. That's not what semantics means, and if you actually read my post you'd realize I agreed with your general sentiment that and that you're right, he isn't necessarily black because he's dark skin.

Sounds like youre looking for an argument.

You did it again man, and then you tried to flip 'looking for an argument' on me too lol. C'mon.

I thought this too until they revealed he's tan/brown with orange hair.

Show's alright. Reminds me of Batman Beyond with its boring teenage drama and knock-off villains, except with blood & gore and hilariously woke.
I'm also pretty sure I know where the story is going, and I don't think I'm going to watch the rest of the season to find out (the weekly format is ass in 2021). I'll probably just read the comic wiki and be done with it lol

The show's been pretty good so far, but today's episode focused way too much on Amber for my liking. They need to break that shit up and move on, honestly, even though it was the major focus for 40 minutes it still feels like we're at the same point as last episode in their relationship.

The rest of the episode was mad bonkers and quite interesting, though!

Which one is amber? The black girl? If so then I agree. Why the main character isn't CRUSHING that pink lantern girl is beyond me. She has a better personality, is in on the super thing, and seems like an all around better option.

This show needs more creepy mustache man and less teenage drama.

Given how the first episode ended I was expecting something more like Watchmen or Miracleman.

I checked out the first episode. I guess it's cool for people looking for of the kind of DC/WB animation. It feels a lot like them, just a bit more adult. Glad to have it with my sub but not sure if I'll be racing to watch every episode.

It's been a while since an American animated show has kept me on the edge of my seat and on top of that, made me fully uncertain as to what will happen next. I think Avatar TLA was the last one to make me feel that way. Regardless, Invincible episode 7 was quite the showcase.

I enjoyed a lot of this show and I'm looking forward to more. But man... there is some embarrassing
political
stuff just shoehorned in for no reason. None of it was relevant to the plot and just sticks out like a sore thumb.
