Invincible VS Reveal Trailer| Xbox Games Showcase

I'm down with this take.

This is just jarring as hell.

Most of the match ups here just don't make sense.

(I haven't read the comics)

The show seems to live off the tension evident in the blatantly skewed power levels between characters (e.g. viltrumites vs basically everyone else).

It's nice to get some "diversity" in the lineup, but black guy and exploding man just don't make no sense here at all.

To do this properly surely you have Invincible, his half brother, Allen the Alien, Atom Eve, that beast man and then a load of Viltrumites and that's it?

They should have included these characters as b/g characters that come in and do tag-team special moves but aren't actually playable.

The roster size for an invincible game with characters of actual interest is super low.

It's like dbz fighting games with Krillin vs Cell. At the end of the day you're filling a roster. The problem here is that Krillin is more popular than like 99% of characters in Invincible...

Fighting games are filled with "match ups that don't make sense".
You think spider-man stands a chance against dark phoenix? Yamcha vs Beerus?
Even the more "grounded" big fighters have massively varying "power levels".
Akuma pretty much bodies no diff 90% of street fighter
the mishimas for tekken
literal gods in mortal kombat
etc.

They are noted shills so I wouldnt take much stock in their views. Max especially isn't going to be objective about it.
Max is one of the more vocal critics of fighting games when they are not done right. He's called out numerous games from netcode to art to gameplay over the years.
JWongg does tend to hype games, but I still trust his opinion.

It's not an IP I was familiar with, but is a game that I am looking forward to especially because the devs have already proven themselves to me with Killer Instinct 2013 formerly of Double Helix. The footage shown so far is pre-alpha so will get better from here. My biggest concern will be the roster size as a 3v3 tag needs to have a diverse and large roster for success. Also, that thus far, other than Eve, we haven't seen any other characters with projectile moves.

Max is being paid to be in behind the scenes advertising for the game...

The reveal footage didnt' say pre-alpha footage. They added that only after the fact because of the terrible response to it. Do you think pre-alpha fighting games tend to have cutscenes and voice acting built in?

This looks like a mobile game and it's not going to get marketedly better by the time it launches and I wouldn't be surprised if it never launches as the millions you have to put into marketing just isn't worth it.

This looks like a PSP game and it's terrible timing to have this shown anytime, but especially after Marvel Tokon...

Cancel the game and save your money...

I guess maybe they hope Xbox players will play this instead of Tokon on PC. One of the laziest looking games I've seen (i.e. no resources).
What PSP games were you playing?

Mob mentality is weak, this isn't Reddit lad. No game on PSP looked anywhere as good as this, absolute hyperbole.

It's absolutely a bit of hypberole and guess when hyperbole is best used. To bring to light situations that are absolutely unacceptable.

No modern game should look like this and try to be a cheap cash in from a licensed property. The industry has largely made too many strides to move back to trash like this.

Anyone defending this game is absolutely in the wrong, but that doesn't matter because when this game comes out it's going to be what it's going to be.

This looks bad for even a mobile game. They can tag their influencer videos with "pre-alpha" after the fact but it doesn't change anything. No amount of influencer shilling is going to make this game a success. The door closed on that as soon as Marvel Tokon was announced. Hell 2XKO looks better than this and its being dragged.

Four tag fighters have been announced recently and this is by far the worst looking one and that's saying something if you've seen Nen Impact...

You haven't played the game nor seen it in person, but are quick to put the shilling label on people who have.
If you've seen Max's second vid about the game, he states that he still has some concerns about the game and has given feedback to the devs about it. So calling it shilling is a hell of a stretch.
Yes, he's been asked to play early builds of the game and so many others. Double Helix during the development of KI did the same thing, so that's not an unknown process for them.

Also, not everyone has a PC or PS5, so this is a good alternative for people with Series systems and maybe even Switch 2 who don't gravitate towards 2KXO or Nen Impact. It seems to be doing some things that neither of those 2 games like the "Sudden Death" mechanic that eliminates the timer scam play.
So what if 4 tag games have been announced? If the game is bad at launch, so be it, but you seem to have a personal vendetta here against anyone that has anything positive to say about the game.

You got all of that vitriol from an announce trailer and even though the devs say it in a pre-alpha stage. They only showed 6 characters and only gameplay from 4 of them, so I'm leaning towards believing that statement. You can choose to believe them or not.

You could be right and this game may end up as a turd, but for now I'm staying optimistic about this game.

I'm a big Invincible fan and it holds a firm nostalgia grasp on me reading these as they were initially released with friends. This doesn't hook me just yet.

That said, I'll flock to fighters for a hook as I'm your average fan not diving into competitive scenes. Like I'll play MK for the fatalities and story, Guilty Gear for the aesthetics, or smash for the huge backlog of history.

One thing the show cant pull off is Invincible as the comic was a home or universe where a great number of Image Comics characters lived. Sometimes they would get a small spin off or just appear in the background but it was a cool part of that comic.

A lot of these characters are recognizable and would be a really cool celebration of Images comic history if they could get that licensing to work. It could also spark larger interest in brands like how Fire Emblem and F-Zero got boosts of interest from their fighters in smash.

So yeah, the title already works but how cool would it be if we saw character like Spawn, Savage Dragon, the W.I.L.D Cats, hell even Rick from the walking dead as an odd character who doesn't fit like Pheonix Wright.

At first I was like YESSS, this is exactly what will plug the gap left open by Prototype and Infamous, only to then learn it was just another boring side-on beat 'em up. Ffs.

It does feel like a poor man's version of Injustice in some ways. So I feel somewhat the same as you.

Who buys these anymore and why? At first I was like "cool, a new RPG or crazy open world game, with awesome fighting mechanics!"... then it turned into a shitty looking 2d fighting game. WTF.

I agree that it does need more pizzazz to the special effects, background, etc. Stuff that I think gets added later in the design process.
Character models are OK as they do match the show's blandness of almost mono/two toned designs, but it does need quite a bit of flash. They do need to address this, otherwise it'll turn out like MVCI where people couldn't get past the ugly character models (myself included), although I also didn't like the gameplay of the stones compared to UMVC3
