Just curious, how long did it take for you guys to back up your phones?

I started like 20 minutes ago and it has not moved since -_-
 
Nice, I just discovered that you can swipe the weather widget and it'll show you the weather for the rest of the week.
 
I got my devices to work by just doing a hard reset. Both worked immediately after doing that. I had a weird glitch where no apps would load. I just deleted one as a test and downloaded it again then everything worked after that. Strange
 
it's a shame that the weather notification won't work on the iPad since there isn't a weather program on it :/
 
Wait, how long ago did they allow you to spell check without auto-correction on typing? I feel like I have been anticipating this for years but something gives me the sense it is not new...
 
Should I press restore and then once it is back to factory settings and then i can use "restore from the backup of" because right-clicking on my phone gives me no option to restore from backup and i synced my stuff just before updating...
 
Finally got the "restore" going. Just had to Option + Restore click multiple times. Someone on another forum said try putting the phone in Airplane mode if you're doing it from the IPSW file.

Edit: :lol the bar filled and then I got an error. Awesome.
 
now phone has a 3014 error, when I turn the phone on it just says to connect to iTunes, and iTunes doesn't recognize the phone at all, capacity n/a software n/a serial number n/a


edit: I feel like the phone bricked

This really bugs me. I really don't understand why the iPad is lacking some of those utility apps you find on the iPhone.
 
Restoring from backup,

Jesus finally... Mental Note for IOS6.. Whenever update comes out..do wait till the day after to update.

same here, go to itunes and select restore. That's where I am right now.

Edit: Oh shit, error while restoring, not a good sign :(

That happened to me, but I did the update on a different computer to where I normally sync my phone.

Super easy to get the apps back. The music you can only get back if it is on iCloud or if you sync it with your pc.

Loving the notifications. So nice to finally get this much needed feature.

And now it's all updated but all of my apps are gone.

Fuck this shit I am gonna throw my iPhone against a wall.
 
I felt like trying to update is like a roll of the dice, and at any point this all break apart in multiple shit-storms.


But, man.. I do love those two Vibration tones (For me) to show that Its updated.

Not sure if that's your issue, but that's been the cause when I've experienced the hot phone/battery drain phenomenon.

Off the top of my head, it doesn't mention that Photo Stream needs to upload over WiFi. It mentions it downloads over WiFi but not upload. There doesn't seem to be any description on how data under documents & data differs from the data you back up under Storage & Backup. Does that data under documents & data take a hit to your data cap? If you have Photo Stream turned on and do a WiFi sync back up, do you have the photos stored twice on your computer? Trying to remember what else was coming up in previous discussions in the beta thread.
 
I really want an ESPN widget or official NBA I don't really care which, I just want basketball scores in the notification center. Oh well, it is not like there will be a season this year anyway :(
 
my advice to those who want to update is WAIT. I seriously hope my iPhone 4 isn't bricked. I NEED to have a phone especially today FML

yes, to sign in, but if i go to the icloud pref. and klick "mail" it asks me to enter/create a ...@me.com email adress. I actually want my real email adress to sync. to my iphone.

EDIT: 5th try... my iPhone rebooted, thought this time it would work... then error pops up. :/
 
Went to update my 3GS, got an error. Now it wants me to restore the phone, but I can't because it can't contact the update server. Great.

Just go into the app; it doesn't take very long to do so. Widgets are useless according to everyone else.
 
i'm going to if i bricked my girl's iPhone doing this update, she will probably kill me before I have a chance though

I do the restore process and I get the same 3104 error, when the bar is 70% through on the iPhone
 
Pretty janky process but I finally upgraded. Now I'm just dreading getting my sister's phone to 5.0.

So far my favorite feature is still being able to use the device even while it's syncing.

I hate the new tabbed browsing in Safari. I vastly prefer landscape mode and the 1cm extra space it takes up moght not sound like much, but it feels really cramped to me. Wish it would at least dissapear when there's only one tab open!

You know, for people who post on a gaming message board, the lack of tech-saviness and inability to follow simple instructions and read warning dialogs here blows my mind. Everyone constntly bitches at Apple for dumbing down everything, yet apparently it's never enough. People constantly asking the same things over and over, easily answered on Apple's official site. Be mad at yourself, not apple. It's what it told you it was going to do. You can just restore from backup. Or redownload from iCloud. All your apps are there. No need to throw a fit.
