iOS Gaming December 2016 | It's app-me, Mario

It's not bad but it's definitely not great. Its UI is not intuitive, the game removes entire aspects of the desktop version and feels like a bad compromise not really made for mobile.

I'd recommend checking out The Battle for Polytopia instead.

Oh right, sorry :)

I have Polytopia and it's great but tends to get boring after a while, I was hoping for something a little more fleshed out :)

Sadly I'm still waiting for that too. I really hope that one day 2K will port Civ IV (or V) to mobile like they did with XCOM. V already has touch support...

Civ V for my iPad would kill me!

I believe it will come sooner than later. Civ V also not the previous ones because of just how massive the Civ V brand itself is. Its alreayd playable on touch on surface tablets for the 4 people who bought those. Just a matter of time.

While it's not the best version of the game it's worth $3.00. If you are looking for Civ Rev gameplay it is fine. I have it for an Android tablet and played it quite a bit when it came out. If you have played a ton of Civ Rev on the PC the problems may be more glaring but honestly not having played another version I enjoyed it.

The Room games are on sale now too. The Kingdom Rush games and 1849 are on sale as well.

I was just invited into the beta of Hidden Folks too:

Man, I can't find any of those. Gives off Where's Wally vibes, I like it.
And that's not even the whole image. You can move it around. But thankfully you can zoom in as well. And you get a little hint for every objective/person, and sometimes they are hidden. It can be Ella who's taking a nap, well she's sleeping in the tent so you need to open it up. Or a monkey that is hiding behind the leaves, so you need to cut them off.

The best thing is the sound. Which seems to be recorded by one man, sound effects which is very charming. It can also be played horizontally or vertically.

Oh right, well no wonder I couldn't spot them then!

I'm embarrassed how long it took me to discover you can go in any order you want in Steamworld Heist. Game changer.

Edit for clarity: i.e. You can choose which bot goes first, second, etc.

So I started up The Bug Butcher and fuck it feels great, but then again, sometimes it's like it isn't as smooth as I wanted it to be. It sure is challenging and I think I like the controls. Will surely give it more of my time. It's also really beautiful.

[edit]

Deus Ex Go, Infinity Blade trilogy, Out There Chronicles, Out There Omega and Broken Age are all on sale now too.

Is Broken Age worth getting? Doesn't it have multiple in-app episodes?

As a big jrpg and rpg fan, how's Sorcery! ?

I heard it has fantastic writing but how's the actual gameplay? And the Music?
One of the best series on any platform. Let me put it this way: RockPaperShotgun, a PC-focused site, praised the Sorcery series as one of the best RPGs of the year

It's a sprawling saga, with myriad choices and consequences, that grows more complex and expansive with each game. And the best attempt at the digital gamebook yet.

Inkle finally put a bundle with all four games on the App Store today, along with the final major update that added a New Game Plus for the series

So Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic apparently just released out of nowhere - combines parts of 1and 2 and sounds like it has tons of content for 5.99. Some expansions are buyable in game also. Anyone have this yet and if so how does it control on Iphone 7+? I am worried the screen may be too small. still, excite!

They're fantastic. But they're more akin to vintage wrpg and table top games. They basically consist of managing resources (gold, hp/magic and items) while facing numerous branching paths, which makes the adventure feeling stand out tremendously.

They're not hokey or cheesy at all despite relying on fantasy tropes for all ages. 100% recommended.

Ok thanks for your opinions guys, I'll bite the first one just to make sure I like it.

For anybody without Deus Ex GO: I was able to GET Deus Ex GO for free, as I had previously purchased Lara Croft GO and Hitman GO, and completed the GO pack.

Oh fuuuuuuuuck. This is an instant buy!
My childhood right here on my tablet.

How is Chaos Rings 3 on an iPhone? I have an iPad and an Android phone, and the game is £7.99 on both stores, so I have to decide which version to buy.

Tempted by the Android version as I'd like a more portable version, but I don't know if it's better suited to the big screen of the iPad instead.

This year sales are killing me.

While I'm downloading tons of games, I'm furiously still playing Super Mario.
I'm pulling some moves that I didn't thought possible one week ago.
Got all pink coins, one level to go for all the purple ones, and 3 worlds left for the black ones.
Then it will be just high scoring and unlocking toads...and this is where I regret adding Killercow,Infiniteloop and Dash Kippei on my friends list :P

So awesome.

One thing for the curious....I've noticed that some IMPOSSIBLE coins to get (to me at least) become very easy using another character.

Lame, the store isn't allowing me to buy the bundle and get a discount as I already own 1-3.

Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic seems pretty good so far. I don't think there's any free-roam mode where you can just build and run a park, but there are scenarios where you have a few goals to reach. Maybe you can just keep on playing on your own pace in here. I don't know which elements from RCT2 are in there as well, as I only ever played the original on PC.

Controls seems alright. You can zoom in and out by pinching, but it isn't a continuous fluid zoom, rather it zooms on different levels. When you need to rotate the camera you have to press the arrows at the top right corner, where I think I would have preferred to rotate with two fingers. It also seems like you have to press the build button for each square block on the ground every time you want to build a path or queue, instead of letting you choose your path by just drawing it with your finger.

Besides that, it have the classic atmosphere, feeling and music as well, so this might end up as my GOTY, if the controls doesn't turn out to be too cumbersome. I'm pretty positive on this one so far.

[edit] The horror game Forgotten Memories is on sale too. I just bought it. Gonna try it out tonight.

Steamworld better go on sale again. Jade Empire and Total War: Rome won't go on sale. Maybe Party Hard Go. Anyway, just still hoping for more sales.

Legend of the Skyfish just got a sale too.

Having trouble getting a link but Island Delta is out.

Torchlight also soft launched in China. I love Torchlight but not sure if it's worth creating a Chinese account for what sounds like a really bastardized F2P imitation of the real thing.

Enjoy, Hexcells series is awesome. You feel like a master of logic when you can complete a stage with no mistakes (which is 100% possible for every level). No need to guess

Yeah, I got them all on Steam already, and have been playing them. I very much like Hexcells.

I just recently purchased an ipad air 2 (first ever ipad) and I've been gaming on it. This morning I bought FTL, game is so awesome.

But I got a message when I booted it that it may slow my ipad down because the developer hasn't updated it in awhile? Is this something I should be concerned with?

I'm really considering buying 1949 for my iPad, because it seems super addicting on the PC. But I'm not sure how much content it has?
