Picked up Cook Serve Delicious (made by a GAFfer too!).
iTunes | Trailer

I had been aware of the game, but the concept had kept me on the fence. A restaurant sim did not sound like something I'd enjoy. When I realized the mobile version had a free version, I gave it a shot and was quickly drawn into the engaging mechanics and surprisingly fast paced, frantic gameplay.

Essentially you're in control of a new restaurant, with the goal of becoming more prominent and keeping customers pleased with new (and properly prepared) meals. This may sound boring, but the game surprised by just how fun and challenging it is. There are lot of variables to consider, from maintaining and increasing buzz about your eatery, to keeping the menu stocked with new and interesting food, to upgrades to purchase, to myriad opportunities to expand and improve your business through such varied scenarios as a cooking show and reading customer feedback

But the meat of the game is the actual act of putting together roses and serving customers. It's simultaneously simple and complex. Orders come in, based on the menu items you've decided; some are fast and easy, others require timing and multiple steps to prepare. The challenge comes as multiple orders begin rushing in, as you're juggling eight different meals at a time. It gets frantic and fast, but the UI and controls are simple an easy; success rests on your own reaction and skill

If you were hesitant or uninterested in restaurant sim Cook Serve Delicious, I recommend giving the trial a shot. The game was a pleasant surprise that easily surpassed my (admittedly low) expectations. It's fun, deep, and polished. And you'd be supporting a fellow GAFfer so that's always good

LEX
iTunes | Trailer

LEX is more than a word game. It’s an edge-of-your-seat experience of colorful glyphs and breath-taking music that you create as you play.

Combine letters to form words before time runs out. Each word gets you closer and closer to the next level.

Your heart pounds as you fight to make just one more word.

Also picked up Lex after seeing a recommendation from a friend and I'm having a lot of fun. Lex is a word game by way of the twitch reaction genre and like a lot of the games in that genre, it's relatively simple. But that simplicity works in Lex's favor, providing a fun visually-exciting experience that anyone can jump into and enjoy.

Lex is all about achieving a high score. Provided with an array of letters, you simply tap the designed letters to make words. Different letters have different point values depending on whether they're vowels or consonants. Creating a word increases your score multiplier.

All that sounds straight forward and then Lex reveals its frantic panic-inducing side by introducing a countdown. Letter tiles fill up depending on their point value; lower values full up faster. If only one tile is completely filled, it's game over. Lex starts out sedate, but soon you'll find yourself racing to create a word on the verge of defeat, desperately thinking of a way to clear out letters. It's fun, fast, and challenging

Any impression of Lex would be lacking without a mention of the audiovisual presentation. A colorful minimal UI opens up to a vibrant kaleidoscopic display of letters as you form words, all while a great soundtrack drives the action and adds to the urgency as your timers runs out. Lex's style turns what was already a fun twitchy word game into something artistic and visually compelling.

We would like to give a BIG THANK YOU for the feedbacks of Mad Bullets! Here are a few of them. Said by the players themselves.

"It is a very professional looking game and it is very polished. I like the humor in it and the graphic art is amazing." [Therealtrebitsch]

"Time Crisis/Virtua Cop for iOS! This is a well done shooter similar to the Time Crisis' of old." [WoolyNinja]

"This game has exceeded my expectation. The most fun I've had in ages on my iPhone. Really a well polished game with more depth than you think and some humor too." [TouchGamer1987]

"It's old school shoot em up arcade style action at its best, great music and a nonstop thrill ride through the most intense gunfight you'll experience in years." [dreadnok]

"Mad Bullets is fun above all else to offer finely crafted arcade shooting action, fitted nicely to iOS for a great pick-up." [Apple'N'Apps - Trevor Sheridan]

Yup. I agree. It is fun indeed. I disabled the ads and am considering the doubler .

Liking cyro - very much like kuru kuru kuruin, but taking a while to get used to the control method. I actually think for this type of game I'd like a tilt controls option (normally not a fan of tilt) - the analog pad they give you seems a bit sensitive

Did you know you can switch to a d-pad on the fly for more precise control?

Yeah, but I'm finding myself using that almost as a default control :)

Standard control seems over sensitive, plus I'd have preferred a floating dpad so I can put my thumb anywhere on the left hand side

Loving this game at the moment. Great job on it! Love the bonus rounds and settings. Still trying to discover all the items that can be shot.

I need a Qix game for my phone. Is there an amazing clone or anything that I've somehow missed out on?

I can't for the life of me remeber the title....but some months ago a new game that was Qix like received some good reviews.
If I recall well it involved dragons and castle sieges, but gameplay was Qix like.
I didn't get it because I was busy with something else (maybe I was testing Out There, can't remember).
I'll try to remeber the title and let you know...

EDIT: found it!
The game is called Line Knight Fortnix.
I didn't have it tough.

I can't comment on the quality of the iOS version of Fortix, but I've played quite a bit of Fortix 2 on steam and that was a very solid Qix clone.

Having Monster Hunter on my Mini and running at a flawless 30 FPS with gorgeous graphics is just absolutely blowing my mind right now. I haven't played the series since 2008, I really missed the hell out of it. Hopefully they'll continue on with the series!

According to Toucharcade, this is coming out soon:

KOF98Logo.png

One of the greatest 2D fighters ever created.

Toucharcade said:
As for the iOS port of The King of Fighters '98, SNK touts it as a "perfect port" of the NeoGeo original and it'll feature two main modes, Extra and Advanced just as in King of Fighters '97, as well as a Training mode. You'll be able to choose between classic 4-button virtual controls or an expanded 6-button setup, and also like last year's KOF release The King of Fighters '98 will support MFi controllers. Finally, it'll include local Bluetooth multiplayer so you can battle against your friends. Here's a random YouTube video of a single match of the arcade version of The King of Fighters '98, which should pretty much look just like the version heading to iOS.

Well deserved. It's a great game for F2P. Challenging but fun!

bought sword and poker( 2010 version) since it been mention in these threads, and im enjoying it.

S&P II is also fantastic. The brand new F2P one is atrocious. They flunked up EVERYTHING. The dirty UI, the janky lag when effects and whatnot show up, it's all pathetic given that Konami clearly has the source code to the original.

Enjoying Tiny Thief, thanks everyone!

Is there anyway to back up save games or app data?

Yeah Alpaca Evolution hasn't gotten enough love. The writing in it is secretly surprisingly incredible. It makes doing the mundane task worth it, to read the next chunk of text.

Also get the prequel: Alpaca Evolution Begins, and the Giraffe based spin-off 'I am Giraffe'.

It's a wonderful series. I'm working on 100%ing 'I am Giraffe' to make it 100% across the whole series. Totally worth it.

Secret of Mana is finally compatible with controllers and the music loops have been fixed.
I'll probably get that game when I buy a controller. I wish Steelseries would release something like the GameKlip to put your iPhone on top of the controller. I would basically be like the shield. The Stratus XL is currently the only controller I want.

I don't know how many people are playing jubeat plus still, but apparently the preinstalled songs are being changed in an update coming either later this month or sometime next month. Sweet Rain and Snow Goose will no longer be included with the application post-update, with DANCE ALL NIGHT, Energy, and Little Flipper taking their place. (The William Tell Overture song will remain.) Sweet Rain and Snow Goose will reappear in a future music pack.
