Alpaca Evolution and Alpaca Evolution Begins are rad, if you want an offbeat interactive screensaver you can't go wrong with these. Had a blast with them some months ago, got all endings and all types of alpaca mutations. So weird and funny.

edit: had no idea about I am Giraffe! Downloading it now.

Question about Civ Revolution. If I start a game on my iPhone, can I pick it up on my iPad later and vice versa with iCloud or are the saves separate?

For anyone pondering how Modern Combat 5's going to look on their iPhone tomorrow, AppSpy have put out a video comparing MC5 gameplay on an iPhone 4 vs. an iPhone 5.

So, I'm playing this year GOTY :) and I can finally talk about it (a bit).
(Part of these impression were already posted on another forum).

I'm testing a game in alpha state (even if it's already much more polished than finished games) that has been in development since forever.
You can imagine my surprise when I received a test build all of a sudden about the game that was still in the top place of my wish list since 2009.

Wanting a game so much, for so long, usually brings disappointment when you finally play it. Expectations are always high, maybe too high...and the time passing makes all this worse.

But not always.

Because, let me tell you loud and clear, I was simply

BLOWN AWAY

from what I played....to the point I started playing the alpha at 11pm and after what it seemed a blink of an eye my watch displayed 3 am.
Clearly a temporal malfunction.

What can I say...I do not want to be too specific, but I was literally teleported to another weird, colorful, brutal, deeply scifi distant universe.
As soon as my alarm remebered me I had to go to work, the first thing I did was launching the game to 'explore just another bit'.

It's everything I hoped it could be, just better, and then some.

It's like Space 1999, Star Trek TOS and all the '70 scifi book covers got mixed up in a mysterious tabletop game that is masterfully rendered between my hands (iPad and iPhone, equally awesome).
The sense of mystery, danger, exploration...are GLORIOUS, as are the graphics and sounds.

I won't even mention all the details and classy touches that bring back sooooo many memories from my D&D modules childhood more than 30 years ago; I won't spoil anything.

But if, like me, you were following the game since the beginning and hoped it would turn out great...watch this space.
Everything can happen between now and the release version...but it would really take a HUGE effort to ruin what seems already so awesome.

I've been informed by the dev (like 5 minutes ago) they want to open up testing to some more people in the next weeks.
I told them here there might be serious people that want to contribute in making the game perfect and a success (it's not a free game...testing is serious and more always than not a real chore...apply only if you want to help)...so when the time will come I'll post a link to apply for a TestFlight build.

Ah...I almost forgot.

The game is Galactic Keep:Dice Battles.

It's a mature themed scifi tabletop/RPG experience for iOS.
It's a turn based RPG, heavy story based, with a damn beautiful and original setting and art style.

omg i JUST saw this my GOD I've been waiting for this game as long as you.
SO EXCITED TO READ THIS

Kemco's Band of Monsters is free right now.

Now, I've tried a few Kemco titles before and they were all shit. However, I've been playing Band of Monsters for a couple of hours and it's surprisingly fun. I don't thing there's a better offering for a Pokemon style RPG on iOS, so it's worth trying, being free and all.

Just dropped $15 on Monster Hunter.
I've never played a MH game before, but the praise and the visuals interested me, and the TA review sold me on the game
For every thrilling action-packed fight, there's at least triple the amount of time spent preparing traps, planning escape routes, gathering supplies, and so on. Charging into things disorganized will earn you a swat on the nose, and as the monsters get bigger and more dangerous, those swats will take off appropriately large pieces of your face.

Hrrm... free right now but offers IAP? That means it used to cost something and was IAP? Huge red flag.

edit: Tried playing it. Longest opening ever...... sped through the text and 5 minutes passed and it was still the opening. Didn't get to actually play before I uninstalled.

I've always loved Monster Hunter, but now playing it on my iPad I am more engaged than ever. The game is just as hard as I remember it, but I'm advancing faster than I ever have before. Even on the OG Mini, the game still looks gorgeous and runs FLAWLESSLY. I seriously don't have a single negative other than the camera being a little but of a pain to turn (just wish it were smoother, hate having to drag multiple times to turn it around all the way.)

Still waiting for the CTRLi controller from Mad Catz... it's on their website for $49.99, but when you go to buy it directs to the CTRLr for Android...

http://www.madcatz.com/products/gamesmart/ctrli/

Real shame actually as the Android pad is on discount for £33.33 right now.

This new Horipad for iOS actually looks half decent:

http://afterpad.com/post/92107526225/horipad-mfi-controller-available-august-31st-from-hori

Seems like the controller prices are starting to come down slightly as well. With Monster Hunter available, and Secret of Mana adding a controller option, things are starting to heat up on the iOS front.

This does look like a sweet pad.

I'm thinking that the D-pad on the Mad Catz CTRLi looks a bit better for fighters.

All this Monster Hunter talk makes me want to jump in on my Mini but ah there are too many other games catching my attention right now.

Doods. Soccer Physics is awesome.

Also, the new expansion for Ascension is available. I've had the physical version for months, but still haven't played it... maybe the digital version will get more more into it.

can you use the logitech powershell on an ipad air? and is it any good?

Just that John Lewis in the UK have the logitech keyboard cover on offer, and they're giving you a free powershell too, but I don't have an iphone/ipod touch to use it with

Guys, who can I put a credit card of mine in another country?

Or better ask, where could I buy digitally an itunes japanese gift card that isn't scammy or anything like that?

So, how significant is upgrade from 2nd to 4th generation iPad, game-wise? I'm finally selling my old iPad and looking at iPad4 (used Air is still too expensive).

Honestly, I would wait a bit longer; we're almost certain to get a hardware refresh in 3-4 months, making this the worst time to upgrade. Anything you buy now will probably be significantly discounted soon.

That said, I don't think I could ever recommend an older generation iPad over the Air or the mini Retina. The difference in size and weight is staggering; whenever I use my old 3rd gen it feels like I'm holding a sack of bricks in comparison.

Wait until the air is in your price range. You're wasting your money otherwise.

wait till fall , till the new one, and see if you can grade a Air/ Mini 2 for a decent price.

Well, the weight of iPad2 doesn't bother me and screen size of mini is too small. All I care about is speed for web browsing and games.

Ask colinp, a gaffer, or Play-Asia (with an overhead tho) if he doesn't do that anymore

Isn't the 4th generation just the first retina one warmed over?

The cost efficient thing to do would be to sell your iPad 2 now, before any iPad announcements devalue it further, and survive without an iPad for a couple of months, and then buy.

Once he new iPads are announced you can either buy the 'stepdown' model (potentially the current air reduced to iPad retina cost), or there will often be lots of iPad airs in the apple refurb store to clear stock. Either way you'll save money

That sound reasonable, let's see if our family can survive without tablet for couple of months :)

Been playing Swordigo again on my android phone. I forgot how great this game is. Really, it's easily one of the best mobile games available. I remember being repulsed by the graphics one. Today I find it really charming.

I'll boldly claim that the minute to minute gameplay feels tighter and more fun than any Metroidvania I've played. Running, jumping and slashing just feels right.

I need a sequel!

Honestly, at this point I don't think it makes a difference whether you sell an iPad 2 now or later. The iPad 2 is years old at this point, and I doubt anything Apple releases will devalue it any further than it has already gone. If anything, value could actually even go up if Apple finally removes them from their available-new lineup, as there is still value in an iPad with a 30pin connector for those stuck with legacy accessories.

The iPad 2 is the second lightest 10" iPad behind the Air. 3rd gen and 4th gen are both heavier than you're used to. The Air is a significant weight and size reduction without losing any screen size.

Traps n' Gemstones just released and it's 40% off this month. It's still relatively pricey at $3, but I bought it because I kind of liked the looks, lol. It's decent, if a bit slow. It's an okay La-Mulana-ish platformer, just not nearly as difficult :P

Any deeper impressions than this? I'm very interested in it, but all of Donut's games have been pretty simple in the past. This looks like a game that would need a lot of content.Does it have?

Just one thing to keep in mind with the Air: It does have a rather important ram problem that will make you refresh your open tabs more often than you'd like.
It can get quite annoying.

I'm interested in Traps n Gemstones as well. They say it's MetroVania. Id get it if it's a solid MetroVania clone.

Seeing the main character, a Indiana Jones or Uncharted MetroVania would be awesome.

Its very metroidvania, with a large map full of dangers and things to collect, places you cant reach without the proper thing needed, weapons, gadgets, so far a good story, DonutGames seal of quality: Controls are spot on, NO IAP,... its fantastic, loving it.

Replaces Bubble Pig (outstanding bouncy platformer with many gameplay mechanics, secret areas, combos,...) as my favorite Donut game.
