I was referring to the surprise that you said, sounded like you knew a surprise release this week. Made you sound like MB for a second :p

Haha no I dont know that sort of releases, just what I read on twitter mostly. And the games I follow. Killercow and M_B are the guys for that. I am just an opinionated consumer xD

Mini Metro plays great on touch, as expected

The game finally clicked with me after not being able to get into it on PC. It's all about managing efficiency with limited resources and space, and optimizing your network. It's a calmer simpler minimalist style of puzzler in the vein of SpaceChem.

Bummer, from the sounds of it neither Death Road to Canada nor Card thief will make it by the end of the year. Hopefully some other games can fill their shoes in while we wait.

Hey guys, what's the iOS GOTY as of now (without in game purchases)? I want to play something really good in bed right now.

I think the only iOS game I've bought this year is Deus Ex Go.

There are too many good games to come to a consensus yet, but here are all the exceptional games listed in the OTs IMO:

Bullet Hell Monday
Sorcery
Enyo
Samorost 3
Reigns
Solitairica
Space Marshals 2
Leap of Fate
Severed
Snakebird
Teeny Titans
Hyperburner
Human Resource Machine
Imbroglio
RYB
Warbits
Chameleon Run
Lost Socks
Love You To Bits
Circa Infinity
Momoka
Power Hover

Solitairica on sale now, buy it.

I don't think there is enough consensus yet to say.

I'll look at Solitarica. If I narrow the question down to a game with a decent story?

^^ No love for Ember? Tons of great games but right now that's probably tops on my GoTY list.

I've been sick so just playing some mindless games right now and gotta say that Maximum Car is pretty good for a Burnout-ish quick fix. F2P model seems reasonable as well. Yes, there's energy but played for about 45 min before I ran out. Thinking of getting the unlimited energy IAP for $4.99.

Earn coins at a reasonable clip so it'd be fairly premium IMO for $5.

If you haven't played the Sorcery series, start with Sorcery 1 and play through the quadrilogy. And check out 80 Days if you haven't played that yet

Samorost 3 has a charming story told through its visuals

Ember definitely looked like something I was thinking would be good when I opened the thread. Does it control better that Baldur's Gate Enhanced?

Much better. Puts those games to shame in terms of playability IMO. It was made with mobile in mind rather than trying to make a PC game work on mobile

Hi everyone. I am a long time ios thread lurker who finally finished my latest game Zombie King. It is an auto-runner but every ability must be unlocked before you can use it
(including sound and color graphics.) There is no IAP. Just pay up front ($2.99).

Download it here:

I know self promotion isn't looked on too kindly here on NeoGAF so I thought I would pay it forward and give away some codes.

Instead of just listing them here for any yahoo to grab first I thought I would have a bit of fun. My game is about a king who is killed and must rebuild himself to full glory and take back his kingdom.

So in keeping with the theme... I will DM you a code if you post here with a king who is dead who you would like to see resurrected (the king can be fictional, a pun, or even a Queen (like Freddie Mercury)).

A King I would like to see resurrected? Well, I would probably have to say Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Maharaja means King/Prince. And Ranjit Singh was one of the greatest rulers of the Sikh Empire.

Tutankhamun! Technically a pharaoh, but started his reign as a child.

Frederick the great would be interesting because he would probably reside in his summer palace again which is located around the corner where I live. That would certainly bring some interesting scenes I to the surrounding park...

I've melt my office Mac with the Bug Butcher Steam demo.

SO GOOD, SO FRANTIC.

Maintaining the combo to get last achievement is a serious challenge.
And then there is the upgrade meta game.

I really can't wait.

People are talking about 'iOS games that get over 90% on metacritic" which is a notification I've asked to receive. Thought I'd mention it.

Zombie King is interesting but is a bit too slow at the start. Kinda wish I was gaining coins and buying improvements at a faster pace. I like the concept a lot but the grind is a bit too real early on, especially as having to replay the same simple levels early on is a bit dull. Love the concept though. Getting eyes and ears for the first time and having it change how you see/hear is an awesome idea!

Kind of agree with this. The earning of "energy" is especially annoying. The changes as you earn back things like eyes and ears and how it impacts gameplay definitely is a cool twist. I haven't gotten far enough into the game to know if that novelty wears offf.

The idea is pretty unique though. I'll play it some more and let you know if I have any more thoughts.

Bug Butcher controls nicely on touch. Definitely worth picking up if you're looking for hectic action, colorful art and animations, and intense arcade challenge.

On the fence with Eggggg, anyone check it out?
