I agree with Marty on this one. I wouldn't classify Siri as an AI at this point either. AI to me denotes decision-making abilities, reasoning, and adaptive learning. I think Siri is a step in the right direction with respects to bridging the interactive gap between humans and machines but it's not doing any decision making. Everything Siri does is deterministic, it hears something, looks for key words and analyzes their pre-determined relationship with other key words and provides the result. There's no higher cognitive reasoning happening, it's just a well implemented language parser accessing a vast relational database. Once Siri can decide whether or not to answer you or read the inflection in your voice to decide if you want what you say you want, then I think we move into AI type behavior.
