I agree with Marty on this one. I wouldn't classify Siri as an AI at this point either. AI to me denotes decision-making abilities, reasoning, and adaptive learning. I think Siri is a step in the right direction with respects to bridging the interactive gap between humans and machines but it's not doing any decision making. Everything Siri does is deterministic, it hears something, looks for key words and analyzes their pre-determined relationship with other key words and provides the result. There's no higher cognitive reasoning happening, it's just a well implemented language parser accessing a vast relational database. Once Siri can decide whether or not to answer you or read the inflection in your voice to decide if you want what you say you want, then I think we move into AI type behavior.

One step closer to this though....

My order from Apple is the same way and I am getting nervous too.

To get it here Friday, if they ship tomorrow, they'd need to use 2-Day...

Coincidence that we're both on Verizon? I ordered mine direct from Apple, though.

I cant speak for apple or verizon, but I do know that Sprint is using 2 day air

How do you imagine cognitive reasoning will be performed by an artificial intelligence? Just to clearly demonstrate why Siri is not doing this.

Probably can't be...

Nothing in my life has lead me to believe that humans are magic, so it's only a matter of time before human like reasoning and creativity is available as software. If you want to say that it is fake, if you want to call learning mimicking, and call decision making if-then clauses, be my guest. I think Siri is in the right direction, and if used and liked by the masses, the people that aren't so concerned at determining the minutia between a language parser and an AI, these people will be pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into further enhancement of these concepts, and this particular piece of software. Competition will rise, improvements will be made, and we will get one step closer to being unable to separate the distinctions we make of a human's 'soul' from a computer's software.

The white bumper on the white iPhone is unbeatable. I would have purchased it already if it wasn't THIRTY FUCKING DOLLARS

I'll own it by end of day Friday *weeps*

Orange and Black IMO

Edit: We think alike Weenerz. Bravo

The white bumper looks nice, but unless they've changed it since the 4 one, it gets kind of a yellowish tint to it after a few months or so. Something to keep in mind.

It all depends whether or not Siri can learn new words and learn new patterns of speech adaptively, doesn't it?

Orange and white get dirty after a while. Black is what I'm going for.
All of them get dirty after a while except black so who cares?

By the time it's all dirty and stretched out, you'll probably find a better case.

So why not go for the one you want and worry about it later. (^∇^)

Going white on white, because it looks classy.

Sooooooo
Despite that I was up until 3:30am Thursday night, and then up again at 6am Friday morning, the end result of me trying to get my iPhone pre-ordered early is this:

WJQrH.png

I had to go in to the store to get it done, and 11:30am was the earliest they could see me.
I'm guessing I won't be seeing my phone for another couple of weeks? That kinda makes me mad, but I guess it's just a phone. I'm more anxious to be able to sell the one I'm using currently, really.
BAH.
Does anyone else have the same screen from AT&T (when doing the search for your order using order number + zip code on AT&T's site) yet is able to confirm the shipment of your phone? I'd love to know that this info is just misleading, and that my phone may still be here on Friday. Anyone?

The Verge really has some incredibly slick video production. I just wish the Joanna Stern reviewed the phone instead of Josh.

Kutu ordered. My case dilemma is solved. Although I might pick up a Graft Leverage as well at some point.

In case anyone else is thinking of ordering a Sena case, use this code for 20% off.

I ordered a 32gb and 64gb through AT&T at 3:30am. The 32gb no longer has the 1 ticked in backordered. The 64gb still does. That may be because of a temp security hold on the second phone, but a customer service agent said I should have them both the 14th. Don't know what to believe.

holy shit that's awful
I love making small short films with friends (planning on going to college for video) and was hoping this would replace my Flip Ultra HD as my camera until I could eventually get a DSLR, but =/

That shake looks like something that regular motion tracking in After Effects wouldn't be able to get rid of... :(

I ordered a 32GB and a 64GB, the 32GB has shipped, but I haven't heard anything about the 64GB... Maybe the 64GB ones have not shipped yet?

Anyone order a 64GB and have a tracking number?

Yeah, that dog video has really bad jello.

You still need steady hands to make iPhone video look solid, even with onboard IS.

I've stayed out of this thread.... But I've been waiting for this post.

Hmmm . . . I wonder if there are fewer 64's, so they ran out quicker? I wish I knew if that info was right.

What is the absolute nicest screen protector money can buy?

My order from ATT shows:

So the chances of getting it this Friday is impossible.

Anyone else ordered from ATT? And did everyone who ordered from Apple getting shipping details already?
I ordered from Apple, placed my reservation that Friday night right as soon as the site came back up. And my order is still in the processing stage.

The one that doesn't obstruct the headphone jack or dock port.

So none of them.

I have no issues on my iphone 4 and it obstructing the jack. Maybe it's just my headphone connection which is just like the iphone ear buds connection, but sound 40x better.

Gah what to do! Been going back and forth all day if I should stick with ATT or switch. So many options, wish I knew someone with a sprint phone around here so I could figure out how good their signal is.
