Sweet! I will try that tomorrow as well. I tried talking to some girl using the "online chat" and she was less than helpful. Pretty much told me to call and cancel my pre-order then re-order it again. :/

Thanks for the heads up

You get any update on the status of your order yet?

I've called them 3 seperate times now and I've gotten the same "You can buy Applecare+ while ordering your phone, or by calling us to order it (or going to a Sprint or Apple store) before activating it" response. The last call said that Apple gave them the ok to sell Applecare+ before a phone is activated.

Did you get an Order Number? You should be able to track your order from here with it

www.sprint.com/myorder

Mine says

Status: Thanks for pre-ordering. A shiny new iPhone is waiting for you in our warehouse. Excluding extreme circumstances, you will have your device Friday, Oct. 14 or Saturday, Oct. 15. During the pre-order period, we will send you a shipping email and tracking number. Your tracking number may not be updated until Oct. 14. Questions? Visit sprint.com/preorder.

I can walk around with my iPhone 4 telling people its an iPhone 4S.. no one will/can tell the difference unless i start showing the actual features

That's great news. Thanks.

Yeah I have an order number. I was checking my status all day yesterday and it always said the same thing. "Manually processing". I checked last night right before i went to bed and my status read the same as yours. Now the wait begins :( I hope i get lucky and mine gets shipped out early!

I went White since I had an Iphone 4, and to make it feel different I went White, that it's different than the black of the last 2 iphones.

My Capital One card was flagged last night. Lol.

Had to call up this morning and got a cool girl who said, "Let's see .. ahh -- so you got the new iPhone too?"

I wish I understood the early upgrade system better. I was leaning towards jumping on this due to the camera being so sexy but AT&T/Apple want me to pay an extra $250 ($649.99 for the 64 GB). I was able to get the 4 from the 3GS (first day of contract.. so it was about a year in between or so) for only $18 extra so of course I jumped. I won't be eligible for an early upgrade until February now apparently. :(

Just checked my credit card: already a pending charge from Apple.

Now going to check my Apple order (on my iPhone atm) and hopefully see what's going on with my order.

No pending charge on my card from AT&T...those fuckers better come through OR HELP ME GOD I WILL sit here and take it like a bitch...

Wait, I missed it. Is this related to the signature requirement from Verizon? Can I waive that so that the damn phone is dropped off at my door. Pardon me if this makes no sense - I'm a little buzzed.

Nope, not the signature but the default shipping address you can't change while ordering. This relates to ordering from Apple though so I'm not sure if it applies to Verizon. If no one can be around to sign for it I might try calling Verizon and see if you can change shipping methods.

Also, ordering from Apple my charge was reflected in my Capital One balance immediately, but there's nothing listed in the transactions section.

Well I've waited almost 3 long annoying years on my crap berry 8800 pearl whatever (garbage phone) but today I officially have ordered a 32gb iphone 4s. Might be a bit longer then the 14th though as it won't be shipping until next friday.

Got an e-mail from AT&T today saying that my order has been processed :D
What time did you get your order in? Mine went through probably close to 4:30AM Eastern and I've got bupkis!

I'm a little late to the party but I just ordered my 4S on AT&T but I wanted to get the AppleCare+ to avoid the situation I'm in right now where I have a scratch on my iPhone 4 screen and can't do anything about it.

However I did not see any option to get AppleCare, can I still get it?

Can someone tell me how iOS lets you import contacts? I have all of my contacts in Gmail and was wondering if I could import them from there or if I should start adding them all into Address Book on my Mac?

check out "Google sync" services. all your Google contacts will be synced and pushed on your iPhone using exchange active sync.

google tells you how to set it up on their site. I used this for around 2 years for contacts and it works pretty well.

You won't scratch your screen without serious effort. In my case, I just always have the phone in its own pocket to be on the safe side.

Meant to be unveiled on the 11th but they delayed it because of jobs dying

What's the purpose of the curved screen (is it even made out of glass - every Samsung I've ever touched felt like plastic)?

Received an email last night from Apple asking if I wanted to add AppleCare+.

Originally I wasn't going to, but I decided to go ahead and do it and just forego any kind of screen protector or case.

The email says to just reply to add AP+, so I did. I'm not sure what's supposed to happen next.

Has anyone else replied to the email? Do they just add it to your order?

I called them and they just added it. Got an email a few hours later confirming.

iPhone has had Voice Control for years. Siri is a whole new thing. It's had apps on mobile devices, but now it's completely built into the core OS.

I'm specifically referring to voice-to-text functionality, not anything else it does. That is 2+ year old tech and should have been standard on iPhones a long time ago.

Paradoxal_Utopia said:
You're absolutely insane. Apple bought siri, what, 2 years ago? You think they've been sitting on their ass for those 2 years? They've obviously been working on it since then. Nothing innovative or unique? There's nothing even CLOSE to what it does on anything else. It is, and this isn't overstating, revolutionary. There wasn't anyone who wasn't blown away from the hands-on impressions. Go check Engadget and ThisisMyNext impressions, among others- they've tried every single device out there, and were shocked at how good this was. They even tried to screw it up, but couldn't. The live demo worked with 100% accuracy every single time, something amazing in and of itself. Those features 'should have been standard long ago'?? Really?? That's one hell of an expectation, considering noone had it standard, and noone will have anything like it standard in the near future except for Apple.

No offense, but you're utterly clueless as to what's a huge step forward. Voice control has always been extremely limited, finicky, and unreliable- which is why pretty much noone uses it. Just like touchscreen devices before the iPhone, mp3 players before the iPod, tablets before the iPad, appstores before the Appstore, I can go on and on. And every single time, the arguments are the same- LOL MP3 PLAYERS ALREADY EXIST. LOL TABLETS ALREADY EXIST AND THEY SUCK. Like everything else that Apple makes, this will be the first intuitive and useable implementation of voice tech, and the mainstream will actually start using it because of that standard. Your argument is completely irrelevant and off-base, and it is made every single time, in the same assinine way, and these people never learn.

To reiterate:

I'm specifically referring to voice-to-text functionality, not anything else it does. That is 2+ year old tech and should have been standard on iPhones a long time ago.

I haven't even looked at anything else Siri does or how Apple incorporated it into the 4S. But it seems to me that, seeing as how they won't allow it through a firmware upgrade on the iPhone 4, Apple knows that voice-to-text is a killer app (a 2+ year old killer app) and is holding 3GS and 4 owners hostage, hoping to get them to upgrade by dangling this carrot in front of them. This is OLD tech (again, referring specifically and ONLY to voice-to-text, not any other voice control features or integration).

Does the math on this seem right to anyone? : http://whenwillapple.com/blog/2011/...-and-1080p-hd-video-should-i-go-32gb-or-64gb/

If so, I kinda regret getting a 16GB one. Right now, I have 10GB free on my 3GS, and I know I can take a ton of pictures with a 16GB 4GS (in fact, how many per GB? I think 200 is a close estimate, correct?), but the lack of video space, 1 hour for that 10GB of free space I have, is kinda worrisome.
Seems right to me as well.

Part of the reason I opted for the 32GB for the iPhone 4 last year was because I knew that I was going to be using it as my main camera.

Yeah 1080p video is going to really suck up the space.

Makes me want a high battery life tablet that can run Windows and iTunes.

Or Apple needs to come out with some sort of external drive solution. Of course that ruins their ability to sell higher capacity flash upgrades for big bucks.

I hope there's an option to only shoot in 720p if possible, though with me getting the 64GB I really don't need to worry about that.

DALLAS, Oct. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T has seen extraordinary demand for iPhone 4S with more than 200,000 preorders in the first 12 hours alone, the most successful iPhone launch we've ever had. It's obvious customers like AT&T's 4G network, which is the only one that lets their iPhone download twice as fast and talk and surf simultaneously.

*AT&T products and services are provided or offered by subsidiaries and affiliates of AT&T Inc. under the AT&T brand and not by AT&T Inc.

Is this confirmation that iPhone 4S will be using HSPA+ on AT&T?

edit: Guess so.. sorry if old.

http://sanfrancisco.ibtimes.com/art...ing-with-apple-to-call-iphone-4s-4g-phone.htm

AT&T is working with Apple to update the network indicator for AT&T's iPhone 4S to read "4G". This will happen with an iOS release from Apple. Since iPhone 4S is an HSPA+ device, our customers will get 4G speeds from day one. Only AT&T has this unique network advantage.

Dragon Dictation and plenty of other apps exist. Just because Apple didn't make it doesn't mean it's not on the phone.

It was confirmed to have 14.4 mbps down in the keynote.

I know, I just don't think it was clear whether you'd actually get that speed on AT&T, I believe people were asking about it int he thread.. I could be wrong though.
