Europeans never seem to understand that US prices don't include taxes.

even with tax (using 9.25% which is california tax i think, idk about the rest of the country) a 650 dollar iphone is 710 dollars, which is 632ish euro. you would need like a 33% sales tax to make the prices equivalent.

Anybody know what I need to do as a Verizon Maxx customer? I want to keep my plan details if possible. It's a 2 year plan that was given to those as an alternative to their unlimited data plan.

Are there no additional taxes that Apple needs to pay as they are a US based company selling goods in EU?

EarPods seem dumb. No way they wouldn't fall out of my ears doing almost any movement at all.

Would have to get some other pair of wireless headphones.

So do I just need to outright buy the phone at full price if I want to keep my ATT unlimited plan? I'm going to be paying the same either way because they don't have 2 year upgrades anymore. This sucks. Upgrading from a 6plus

I'm in the same ballpark as you but upgrading from a 5. From what I was told by an Apple Employee at an Apple Store, you can buy the phone through them, they will swap out the SIM card, and AT&T will not drop your plan.

We have to commit to buying phones at full price going forward, but as long as you do it through Apple your plan will be safe for the time being.

thanks for the answers everyone. basically their strongest argument is that they are just ahead of time, pushing technology that will become standard one day.

I'd buy into this reasoning if those headphones were completely wireless. what we have right now is basically another device that you need to charge every other day. Apple is pushing a niche product into mainstream while making lives of the rest of us slightly more cluttered. solving something that was not a problem to begin with.

when they decided to drop the optical drive in 2012 MacBook Pro lineup it made perfect sense. what we saw today might be the most idiotic ID decision of recent time.

Glad I went for a 6S for my upgrade rather than waiting for this. Some nice new features but it's a shame the dual camera is Plus only, I'm guessing next year the normal model will get that like it got OIS this year.

Do your regular ear buds fall out of your ear when you move? Without the long dangling wires, seems like EarPods would be less likely to fall out.

But I know I'd lose them, so still prefer wired. And I don't want to deal with charging.

I disagree.
Why does Europe get fucked so hard?

Legitimate question.

Simple VAT.

Plus in the US Apple prices are quoted pre-tax.

People were outraged about that and you had PC users giving Apple shit for dropping it.

People were mad when Apple dropped legacy IO ports from their Laptops and Desktops

Honestly I support Apple and other manufactures in their move to remove headphone jack.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Is the vod out?

people holding onto that OG iPhone AT&T unlimited plan like grim death

At this point I imagine most of the people doing backflips to stay grandfathered on AT&T/Verizon would probably be better off on a prepaid carrier that has a high data limit. Cricket does unlimited data/talk for $65/month and uses the AT&T network.

I'm surprised that carriers didn't use LTE as an excuse to boot people off of unlimited plans though.

Honestly at this point I'm doing it just to see how much longer I can get away with it.

I've had mine since the iPhone 3g, but I'm switching to T-Mobile I think so I'll finally be getting rid of it. My monthly rate for my single line is like $104 a month with tax which is crazy. I hardly use more than 3-4gb of data a month and I'll end up saving all of $25 a month switching.

I had it and gave it up. They throttle the fuck out of you anyway at a certain point. Have not had that problem on the installments plan.

it's not even worth it especially considering the throttling, I ended up saving money when I went to a mobile share plan and I have way more data than I could ever use

Yeeeeeep, the minute I can no longer use unlimited data with AT&T is the minute I ditch them completely. I've gotten so accustomed to my unlimited data and being able to use my phone for whatever I want, whenever I want, that having to switch to a normal data plan at this point just feels like some low level anxiety shit that I'd have to keep checking all the time so I make sure I don't pay 10 dollars for an extra 1 GB or whatever the price is now.

Also I use way more than 5 GB or whatever the standard amount is at this point. If they want me off that plan they should switch to 10 or 15 for the same price.

Same. I almost gave it up when I was getting throttled at 10gigs between two phones, but when they raised it to 20gigs before throttling everything has been fine, so the ride continues...

Edit. But yeah unlimited is really a joke when they can just throttle you.

I picked up my 6 in store on launch day. Each carrier had representatives there sort of overseeing the activations of new phones.

It was fun waiting around 2 hours inside the store while AT&T tried to get their activation servers back online.

I don't like that the sexy Jet Black is already reportedly fingerprint and scratch hell just like glossy game consoles, but the Black looks equally sexy to me so I'm aiming for Black 7 Plus 128GB

add $30, because for some reason the Plus got a price bump

Ah that's a shame. Still worth it :p

My Apple stock is slayin today. I do also like the Matte Black version but the Jet Black is too nice to pass up. Didn't even get to watch the keynote today. Did they mention if the Jet Black is glass akin to the 4/4S? What is that coating?

But it's more of a pay-as-you-go plan.

No contract involved.

Also, fuck all of you! iPhone 4 throwback paint job or bust

Is to actually T-Mobile or an MVNO running off T-Mobile/that special Wal-Mart T-Mobile thing? Prepaid or post-paid account?

Only in an Apple thread is 300/400ppi "really low".

It's a phone not a photo printer.
I mean, not even 1080p for the standard model, in 2016?

Strikes me as awfully low spec. Even most bottom-of-the-barrel phones rock 1080p screens at the least nowadays.

Does anyone here know the price of the 4.7" phones for all colors and memory sizes?

Apple site is showing $899 for standard silver color for 32gig

Eh.. not enough new features to justify removing the headphone jack. Looks nice, of course. Don't think I'll be upgrading from my 6 Plus.

I guess it's technically pre-paid, I don't recall how exactly I got on it. Gaf suggested it during the time the Nexus 4 came out, but they deduct an amount of my choosing monthly. Anything above the required 30 dollars acts as additional minutes.

Probably won't work, iPhone upgrade program requires activation on a post-paid account

Apple's iPhone Upgrade program works independent of your carrier. You should theoretically be able to use it even if you are on a prepaid T-Mobile account. Assuming your credit rating isn't hot garbage, anybody should be able to do it.

"When you buy an iPhone with the iPhone Upgrade Program, you aren’t tied to a single carrier and a multiyear service contract. So you can choose the carrier that’s right for you. And once your new iPhone is activated, it will always remain unlocked."

534ppi (1440p on 5.5") is thoroughly unnecessary. All it does is make the phone work harder for something that really makes no discernable difference. Going from 163ppi to 300+ was like night and day. Going to 300 to 400 is meh. Going past 400 is just ridiculously stupid.

The only reason it seems low is because Android handset makers have been desperate to overcompensate for being late to market on hidpi devices by going to the highest extremes.

It makes a difference when using phones in VR headsets.
