Is it worth the 30 dollars? When I get my Iphone here next month I want to get this

But without the acceptance of 3G connection it [Slingplayer mobile] is pretty useless to me:/. Is there anyway to fake a wifi connection with an app or so? (jailbreaked or not). Or when you connect through a VPN with 3G, does the phone consider that as WiFi?

Something like that. My dad has the slingbox so I'm not sure. He just uses it to watch baseball games on his current phone so he said i could use it too.

So it must be landing very very soon.

While you're likely getting something new for WWDC timeframe, doesn't necessarily mean you're getting something soon. Apple has actually done the crazy nutty thing of not supplying inventory and leaving the channel dry for over a month to wait for a new device to be ready for the market.

Well we HAVE been getting plenty of stock. That's the thing.

They've only JUST told us we won't be getting stock anymore. So I assume it will be coming at least RELATIVELY soon.

Dust has gotten under my screen as well and at this point there is enough of it that it is becoming slightly annoying.

I had an iPod Touch 2G replaced due to dust getting underneath the screen. I almost wish I hadn't, because the screen on my replacement is a little worse and I would have rather dealt with the dust.

If you wait I don't think you will get one of the newer models though, I believe they use refurbished units for exchanges so you'll get another of the same version you have.

I'd be very suprised to see an OLED iPhone this time around. The tech is still way too expensive, from what I last saw, and Apple has enough sales data to know that cheap iPhones with subsidization discounts thrown on top of that lure a lot of buyers.

OLED isn't that expensive. If Cowon can stick a decent sized OLED in their 16GB PMP for $200 and Sony their flagship NWZ-X1000 for $300, I'm sure Apple can.

I thought zenbe lists was a great, simple listing/ notes program. can sync with a website and can share lists and have them edited with others online.

don't ask me about to-do programs though. I just use the calendar app (I need the pop up messgaes)

I have no clue for this sort of thing. But did you ever sync it? How long were you in the states? There're carrier updates that iTunes will down load...

I was in the States for a week but only entered T-Mobile's network for 10 seconds or so.

The Apple Store in Ginza swapped my phone out entirely. Never going to roam in the U.S. again with my iPhone.

Why? Did you need it that soon? WWDC is 3 weeks away, and it looks likely that a new model iPhone will be launched in June. Even if you didn't want the new one, it was probably likely the old version would get a price drop, or something.

Anyway, AAA apps is dependent on what you are looking for, and your needs. But appshopper.com is pretty much the iTunes Appstore, but has some top 100 stuff. Doesn't make them triple A, however.

Yea they do especially if the phone is unlocked. Even if the phone isn't there resell market is there. for a 3G you can get around 300-400

Just wait dude. The new iPhone should be out soon if it's coming at all. If you really need those extra specs then just wait it out.

My wife bought an iPhone yesterday. I told her about the very likely possibility of a hardware refresh soon, and the rumoured specs. But she isn't a power user by any stretch of the imagination, and the current iPhone would do her just fine.

She's very happy with her purchase. Now we both have one, and we both have Macbooks too... Funny how things change over time.

No, 3G came out in July last year.

They will talk about OS 3.0 at WWDC, but I don't think they will use their developer's conference to reveal the new iPhone. Probably have it's own event in July.

For the last four years, it's been new iPods in September, and in the last two years it was the iPhone in June. What the fuck are you talking about?

They're going to show the new phone at WWDC, just like they did last year. They won't be able to demo and help developers with new features on the phone (like the video camera and magnetometer) if they don't have the actual new phone to show off.

And those people with iPhone v1 that signed two year contracts are kind of going to need something new to switch to.

btw, you could most likely get a new phone for upgrade price after 12 months or so of using your current phone. you'd have to extend your contract another 3 years or whatever.

typically, the cell companies state how long you need to have had your existing handset (or existing contract) to quality for "upgrade pricing".

that said, there's obviously no need to upgrade every year for a new phone. but you won't be penalized for doing so.

To me the 3G was just a thicker phone that drained the battery even faster and cost more monthly, not worth an upgrade. I was also really disappointed that they got rid of the aluminum look. However the rounding of the phone feels MUCH better in your hand. Hopefully Apple can come out with a thinner, more energy-efficient iPhone and then couple that in with more a lot more memory and upgrade to 16 and 32 gig respectably.

Unless they changed to OLED i doubt there will be much energy saving to be had. They're reportedly bumping up the processor speed, which should negate much of the savings to be had from more efficient 3g/wifi/bluetooth chips.

Is your phone jailbroken? I had this happen to me twice with a jailbroken phone. I had to manually force it into DFU mode (google it) and erase everything and start over.

I remember you can't even force them into DFU with 10.5.6 or higher anymore. I had a couple complete non-responsive events as well, while at work; that's when I stopped jailbreaking.

The Forums app got an update today. It now actually works. Both GAF and SomethingAwful can be browsed. There's an icon for posting, but it doesn't seem to work yet. It's not as nice for browsing GAF as Mobile GAF or the web app, but for sites without smart members making awesome tools it may be worth looking in to. I'll test a site or two if anyone wants to know. vBulletin stuff seems to work well.

do you mean it was jailbroken when you got it? or that it's not actually jailbroken?

if it's not jailbroken, just take it to an apple store and get a replacement.

It was jailbroken when i got it, but when i updated the firmware i pretty much reversed it i guess. all the homebrew apps were gone and it worked like any other iPhone... till now.
I guess I'll go to the Apple store tomorrow, i got no other option now.
