mrkgoo said:So what's the deal with app compatibility on 3.0? I know Apple encouraged developers to make them compatible - but does that mean existing apps that haven't been updated, won't work, or probably will work, but possibly with a few bugs?
BeejiveIM is fantastic. It's expensive though.SnakeXs said:Speaking of AIM, what's the best messenger? I wish the Adium team made one.![]()

mrkgoo said:SO most 2.2 apps are, for the most part, compatible already, even if it doesn't say it is? I assume the architecture is close enough for this to be the case, but wanted to be sure. What percentage of my apps should I expect to totally crap out on me come 3.0?

I have noticed if I turn push off my phone (16gb 3g) instantly becomes more responsive. Anyone else notice this phenomenon and has it improved or been fixed under 3.0?
TurtleSnatcher said:Why? the AT&T one is at least guaranteed for Friday. Best Buy you have to wait in line in the morning. Though you can use rewards zone but thats about it.

I'd wait for next next year's model, just to be safe.Manics said:It was only a joke, although my wife would be fine if I bought one. I'm sticking with my original stance though, the 3Gs isn't a big enough upgrade from the 3G to warrant a switch. I'm waiting for next year's model, hopefully new screen technology, way better battery and *HOPE* support for 4G cell network that Rogers introduces next year.

not sure about push..
I don't see why they wouldn't support it, but right now they have a system in place to email you IM alerts.
Awesome.Manics said:Yes Beejive is supporting push and it'll be released soon.

StrikerObi said:Meebo's also got an app coming out so I would hold out if I were you. Meebo's web-client is pretty slick and I'm excited to see what they offer for their App. Whatever it is, it's bound to be cheaper than BeeJive's option (I'm guessing ad-supported and paid versions will be available, seeing as meebo.com itself is already ad-supported).

Marty Chinn said:Well I only use AIM, is it still worth using if you only use one IM service? I can't tell from reading the site what really makes it better than usng the official AIM client let alone worth paying money over something that's free. Could you elaborate why you find it so good compared to other clients?
Edit: Actually if there was one that did both AIM and Skype, I'd be set cuz those are the only two I actually use.

I don't use beejive, but I can't stand fring. I kept it around for skype support, but ditched it when skype came out. I didn't like the interface and I didn't like it smooshing all my contacts from all sources. I use msn, but don't really need a messaging enough to pay more than a few bucks for, so I use palringo.jonnybryce said:To all the BeeJive lovers, have you used Fring? A lot of websites like Gizmodo say it's the best IM client, what makes BeeJive better (and worth the price vs. free)?

I just *reserved* a 3Gs through the Apple site and selected that I will pick up at my local Apple store. Does anyone know if this guarantee's me a 3Gs on Friday? Or do I still need to get there super early to get one? If I have to get there super early then I'll just wait until I can walk in and get one.
Anyone have any idea's on this??
Thanks
MaizeRage25 said:According to one of the employees at an Apple Store, a reservation to pick-up an iPhone 3GS at the store guarantees you nothing. They are still being sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. The employee I talked to indicated that they thought they would have plenty of iPhones, but according to the Engadget report today some stores have over 1000 reservations.
aparisi2274 said:ok Thanks for the info!! I am still going to check with my local apple store. Like I said, if it doesn't guarantee me one, I will just go in after work on Friday, and if they have one I'll get it. If they don't, then oh well...
MaizeRage25 said:I plan on going by at about 7:30 to check out the line. If it's crazy, I'll be back during my lunch break to see if there are any left.
AVclub said:I'm psyched that I got my Bing email today letting me know I'm getting $105 cash back on my 32GB 3GS purchase. Now I need to buy the right cover, screen protector and headset for my new purchase.
Any suggestions? Or should we start a different thread for iPhone accessories?
