I've hated Verizon more ever since they charged me $300 to replace a free phone whose screen was cracked while still inside the box.
 
Wow, I actually got an extremely helpful and courteous rep.

Total bill for one month plus 3 days = $70.57 after taxes with city employee discount.

It seems like a fairly robust beat making program. It comes with its own samples and you can import your own, you can sequence them, use effects, and export them to your computer. The touch interface looks really elegant as well. It's straightforward but looks like it has a decent amount of depth. Considering how nice it looks, I think $20 is a really fair price.

Is there any way to change the sound effects for notification other than the ones that come with the phone? I'd like to change some of them up to stuff like the Zelda chest discovery chime or the MGS alert. If not possible on a defualt 3G phone, is it once its jailbroken?

It is not possible on a non-jailbroken phone. If the phone is jailbroken there are a few apps that allow you to change those sounds.

You called AT&T directly and not the store where you made the purchase? I am thinking the store where you purchased the phone is selling all the phones they get to new, and holding off on calling you, because they already have your money... or I am just being paranoid.

Yeah I called AT&T directly and they gave me a 25$ credit.

And what you said is basically what they're doing. The warehouse will randomly send a box addressed to you to the store. It's fucking bullshit that the store doesn't just hold the phones that come in with regular shipments.

I don't know about the store that you go to, but I'm 99% sure that isn't happening in Evanston, IL. I just spoke to them, and they just received 30 phones. These orders were placed on Friday and Saturday.

However, not all orders placed on Saturday were fulfilled...since my name is not on her list and I ordered on Saturday evening (around 7pm). She said they're getting a list of names with the phone shipment to the store...so there is no way she can sell those unless someone doesn't pick up.

I'm crossing my fingers for next week now. ARGH.

I was the first direct fulfillment order after they sold out on Friday and the store told me some of the orders had come in already when I went in yesterday. Seriously, fucking bullshit.

Not to mention the fact that this store wouldn't even fucking open the UPS shipment they got while we were lined up and how they let people come 15 minutes before they were let in and get in line with their friends.

I should have just given this kid that was 12th in line the 50 bucks he wanted for his space and I wouldn't have had to deal with this shit.
 
Not to rub anyone's nose it, just telling my story. I got my iPhone today from the Apple store near me. The store opened at 9, I got there at 8, there was no line. Sweet! Well, at 8:45, they put up a sign saying, "Sorry, no Iphone 3G today." I felt like someone punched me in the gut.

I had a few things to do, namely sell my 16GB iPod Touch to a guy for $250. I went and did that, then came back to the mall and Apple store. This was about 11:30, I saw a line of about 10 people and the sign now read, "iPhone 3G: Twice as fast, half the price". I jumped in line, and about 45 minutes later I walked out with a 16GB Black iPhone and a Apple Store "please mug me bag"!!!

Seems that at this store they are getting them in at 10:30 and selling out by 3. The line when I left only had about 4 or 5 people in it, but the sales dude I had said that by 2 there would be about 30 people in line.

If there is an Apple Store near you, a lunchtime visit might be worth your while.


BTW, the Sprint phone I had before got 1 bar at the maximum at my house, the iPhone is full bars and 3G. Suck it Sprint.
 
So I decided to get one these, but I wont pick it up till Sunday. I'm looking for some advice before I sign up for my plan though. I was at the AT&T store today though to figure my plan and what not and to make sure that I can transfer my old number and I had a question. I asked how much it would be to add insurance for the phone to the plan and they said that they don't have any insurance plans for this phone. This sucks because with a nice phone like this I would like to have an insurance plan. They said there was 1-year warranty that came with the phone and that I could buy another year of it for $70. Does anyone know if there are any other options maybe something threw apple themselves? Thanks for any help guys.

can anyone here help me, every time I try to click on an app I downloaded, it will automatically go back to the homepage. Can anyone try to figure out whats wrong?

I had this problem a while ago trying to go into Beat Maker. I powered off (Holding down the sleep button) and when I started back up it worked fine.

i noticed a lot of "unlocked" iphone 3gs on ebay and kijiji etc.

i didn't think there was even a way to unlock the new 3g iphone yet...

is this a scam?? orr... what

because there isn't a way to jailbreak the new iphone yet either... so i dunno

iPhone dev team have 'activated' a 3G iPhone, but not unlocked one.

If it's not a scam, they will be using SIM spoofers, little jackets for your sim card which trick the iPhone. Still, even if they were using this method, there still isn't a public method of activating them.

From what I've seen on mine, that normally seems like a DRM issue. If just restarting the iPod doesn't work, try installing a new app (just find a random free one,) and then restart the iPod. That should fix the DRM problem.
 
In case Phoenix decides to write a custom NeoGAF iPhone app, I've gone ahead and written a PHP script that takes a forum page and parses out the data in XML. I know Juice said he might write something like this in Python but I was bored and wanted to try it for myself. I'll start work on a version that parses thread pages tomorrow.
