When the fuck is push gmail coming? And proper turn by turn GPS? When's the next update anyway?

When Apple lets the developers write a proper turn by turn GPS you'll have one, but since we're prohibited from doing so - you'll have to wait for your fruity overlords to give you one.

AGH!!

my iphone screen broke...

i live in canada...

just wondering if anyone knows if i can get it fixed... and how is it done?...

what kind of money am i gonna be spending... i'm guessing like $120?

and how long will it take?

so pissed right now :( booooooooooooooooooooooohoo

I had a friend who dropped hers and broke the screen. The first gen iPhone. She went to the Apple Store and they replaced it with a new one for $250, but that was pre 3G iPhone. I'd imagine it would be cheaper now, although, her phone wasn't subsidized, so who knows. This was in the States by the way.

ugh... i couldn't even get my stock iphone headphones replaced... the left earbud never worked and they said they don't ship to canada and to buy a new pair is all i could do.

i'm doubtful any kind of replacement is gonna happen... i'm hoping i can send it somewhere to get it fixed........ ugh

Why don't you take it into Rogers and see what they can do for you? They are the official iPhone carrier after all.

Just got the iPhone, it's awesome! Too bad my primary email does not have a setup to for smartphones so I created a gmail account where all my emails get send to it automatically from the primary one. 3G is awesome, got the 6gig for $30 a month plan!:D

What kind of e-mail do you have that doesn't allow you to access it from the iPhone? It handles standard POP and IMAP very well.

My school email. Did not see anything in regards to POP or IMAP on the school site or my school portal. I did a thorough search too.

Do they give you instructions for setting it up in Outlook? If so, just use those instructions.

Checked it too. Anyways, too late. I have it set up to forward all emails to gmail which I have set up on my iPhone and will start using as my primary email from now on.

Thought I'd let you guys know that Earthscape is currently a free download at the App Store. It'll be $10 after this free promo period.

Think Google Earth for the iPhone. It's pretty well implemented, and a good way to burn through data. :)

i just got an iphone yesterday (16gb, Australia) it is the best... thing... ive gotten for quite a while. MotionX poker is going to own my life!

Anyone have any problems with number porting to ATT? I signed up two iPhones with a family plan yesterday, one of them got the number ported almost immediately, still waiting on the second. I realize it hasn't even been a day, but if the other one went that quickly...

So I finally upgraded to 2.1 but now I can't get to download Categories nor Poof, as it won't find the source even though it's installed. Any suggestions? Cause I'm thinking of downgrading to 2.0.2 again. =/

I can't even get Kate to work (having already installe mobile enhancer and Rip Dev), as there's no 'Rip Dev' under Settings.

Any help here? =)

Safari has crashed on me a few times, but when I relaunch it responds well. Camera is oddly sluggish. Youtube is also sluggish at times. Overall still killer, as long as the phone it's self is working.

It should be w/in 3 hours. I'd call AT&T and see what's going on.

So yeah, I'm having some battery problems with my phone. In about half a day, it dies, and even worse, it's only charging up to 80%. I have been keeping the phone in a dock while I'm at work, meaning it's almost constantly being charged. Can this hurt the phone? Should I go get the phone serviced?

32GB iPhone rumors are heating up big time. What does everybody think? Engadget is reporting it could be as soon as this week.

I held off on the 3G for this very reason. I really need 32GB to be able to ditch my iPod and run with the iPhone solo.

I've been seeing those rumors as well. Seems awfully quick to update, but then again, you just never know. I'll probably still wait for the 3rd Gen iPhone before I upgrade, but it would be tempting.

If they drop the 8GB and bring in the 32GB at $299, I'll have a tough decision to make.

Yeah, and that's what I'd expect. Drop the 16 GB version to $199. Reports say that the 8 GB version is getting difficult to find.

It's overdue if not inevitable.

They probably would have done this at launch, but when they projected a three-month sellout, there was no compelling reason to reduce their margin. This might also explain the somewhat absurd wholesale price of the phone in the >$600 territory, as the increased capacity might have been baked in.

It'll be tempting to pick up a second phone for my wife and I, but my fear is that because of the subsidy, the 2 year contracts will be enforced fully when next year's (front facing camera) update is launched. The last thing I want is a *real* iPhone upgrade that I can't buy because I'm locked into another iPhone contract.

Exactly what I'm fearing Juice. I'll buy one now, and then next year you'll see a real revision and and not just an incremental update. Perhaps an upgraded battery as well. Although I'm severely tempted, I'm going to try to force myself to stay on the sidelines with this one.

pfffft, I'm still on my 1stgen iphone with the black band of shame.

I hate it when you two start using logic. :lol

I really, really need the extra storage space, but it might be prudent to hold out as long as I can.

hey the 1st gen model is arguably better looking than the current model. There's nothing shameful about a 1st gen iPhone

unless it's 4 GB, lol

nah its an 8, I just made the decision to go every other rev...
i cant wait until next summer

This one just sounds like he needs to add some more functionality, fix a bug and resubmit.
It'll still be duplicating the functionality of an Apple app in that case, and Podcaster stands as an example of an app providing superior functionality that remains excluded.

I'm surprised and really disappointed that Apple are taking this line. Fifteen hundred useless flashlight apps? That's fine. Apps that might offer functionality that an Apple app also provides? Denied!

I have no choice but to wait untill next year, the UK costs are so high even the lowest contract deal is £30 a month, even more if you want an iphone with more then what the minimum gig space is.

What is this news about a front facing camera? surely if you wanted to take a picture of someone you still need one on the back of the phone.

It's not news, technically. Just a rumor that Apple might a second camera to allow for video-conferencing.

I hope next year's model has it but it's not guaranteed.

It isn't news, but having iChat with video support is an obvious low-hanging-fruit feature that would basically turn these things from Jesus phones to true nectar of the gods.

The screen is the perfect aspect ratio for a very high quality video conference call, and if they see the subscription numbers soften a bit, they may be incentivized to allow you to make video calls to jabber/aim accounts w/o charging minutes. (AT&T actually expected much heavier data usage than it's experiencing)

If I could turn on my phone, instantly call my wife and have a video chat with her while I'm traveling for work in Somewhere Else, USA, that would make business travel far less of a pain in the ass.

:lol Sorry to break ou the logic on you man! :D

I understand your desire to upgrade. I'd just hate to see you disappointed when Gen 3 shows up. I'm lookin' out for you man!

YES!!!!!!! I upgraded to 2.1 without having to pwn or anything!! I do not have cydia anymore but I do not care I never used it.

Just glad I upgraded with no hassle. :D

is it me or the phone is louder now, this update is great. :D

Dunno if anyone else has posted this, but I just found this Springboard theme, which looks pretty neat:

Springboard (two versions):

Will try it out when I get home.

Why would they drop the 16GB to $199 after they just announced the new 8GB iPod Touch for $229? I thought the point was to make the iPod Touch cheaper than the iPhone?

The iPhone is only cheaper thanks to subsidization. You do realize that you can get an 8 GB iPhone now for $199. Of course there is also a two year cell contract that comes along with that. If they are getting rid of the 8 GB model, I can guarantee you that they'll drop the price on the 16.

I still think it's too early for a 32GB iPhone. I see Apple sticking to their soon to be established January capacity increases of iPod phone and iTouch.

Rumor sites this morning are shying away from the 32 GB reports now, so you may be right.

I'm hoping they at least wait until next year with any major upgrades. I just checked my ATT account and I won't be due for subsidization again until April of 2010. :lol

At least my wife gets an upgrade next year.

I held off on the iPhone for a long time because I was adamant about having enough space for all my music. Currently, I have around 20GB and I couldn't see buying a 4 or 8GB model. I caved and bought the 16GB and it's more than enough space. I manually manage my music and I realized how much of it I don't listen to. It all depends on how you use the device but I don't use the iPod function everyday. If you're at all interested in the iPhone it might be worthwhile to really think about how would use the device. For me, 16GB is enough space. Different strokes for different folks but my stubbornness kept me from enjoying a cool phone for a long time.
