So I attempted to use Quickpwn again and the program says it successfully Jailbroke the phone but then the phone just stays at the Apple logo start up screen. Im able to restore it again without any issues but for some reason can't Jailbreak it again. Will I never be able to or is there something else I can try? Thanks guys.

You can either try and try again, or leave it at the screen for a while.

After about half an hour the second time I tried it, it finally booted and it's been just fine ever since.
It seems to be a common little glitch.
 
I couldnt get my iphone 3g out of standbye mode. I tried pressing buttons etc and having someone call me. The ringer rang but the screen was still black. I held down the buttons for a while and I guess it restarted.

The phone is up to date and not jailbroken, any ideas?
 
Intelliscreen is amazing.

I'm on the trial period now but I'm definitelybuying this when the trial is over. It changes the whole dynamic of the phone. Love it.

Wow I completely froze my phone browsing a web page in Safari. The phone would not respond to anything, holding the "Home" button down for 10 seconds, holding the power button to shut it down, nothing. Finally after like 5 minutes the thing just randomly shut down and restarted itself. So weird.
 
Anyone use MobileMe at all? It seems like the mail is down or sometthing?

The only con of jailbreaking is that when you upgrade your firmware, you have to jailbreak again. I'm not sure if you can then restore your jailbreak apps, as I only did so after 2.1.

There are so many pros. One such pro is that I'm currently posting this through my 3g network connection on my phone tethered to my laptop. So awesome.

What are you using for tether?
I tried the PDAnet but can't get a stable connection.

If you want to restore your unofficial apps, get AptBackup.

Believe so, probably a setting for intervals on when to check for new info.
I'll try this when I get home and see how it fares.
 
wow EA's new game lineup looks great!

I am hoping for a good sim racer. Xplane convinced me that a realistic car sim is doable.

It sounds amazing (with good headphones) only problems are right now you can't save your patches, or record the midi, or play polyphonic chords. OK so those are some major problems for a synth app but the dev promises he is working on it.

Perfect for adding your own spooky soundtrack to halloween parties! :D

There are 3 of them now, and the little RMI at the bottom of the HUD points to the closest one.

Map! It's in the location screen now.

The planes now have much nicer-looking propellers.

I had to admit a lateral accelerometer calibration was needed!

Yeah there are a ton of radio and video streaming apps.

That actually makes me wonder, is any cable company ever going to let you access your package via the iphone? Man if the iphone could connect like a PSP > PS3 except to my DVR I would be in HEAVEN.
 
Hey guys HELP!!!

I just bought a 3g iphone 2nd hand from a guy who went back to his Blackberry. It was under Fido (I'm in Canada) and I got it unlocked so I could use it with Rogers.

Anyways, the App store and Itunes is still under the guy's account. I opened an itunes account but when I try to sync it always comes up as his name. Do I need to do a full restore to add my itunes account. Looking for some help here. Searched the net but received conflicting answers.

I believe you need to sign into the iTunes store on your computer with your new account, and then re-sync your phone to iTunes. I don't believe there's a way to change iTunes accounts from the phone itself at this time.

See, that's what I'm trying to do. I have my own itunes account. But when I plug the USB cable into my PC, even though the itunes is under my account, the iphone is listed as "*****'s phone". I want to delete that so I can re-sync using my own account.

Ahh, gotcha. Well in that case I'd try a full restore, as that should reset the device to factory settings. I know that in the past I was able to change my iTunes account by fully logging into my new account in the iTunes store and then re-syncing, but that may have changed at this point.

You can change the phone name, it's not tied to the iTunes account.

That's just the phone name, you can change it to whatever you want.

Today Translink relaunched m.translink.ca, a mobile site providing bus schedules, now optimized for the iPhone or iPod Touch. It's so new that Translink hasn't announced it yet, but the dudes at Handi Mobility, who are behind it, pinged it Twitter today soliciting feedback.

The site lists data for Translink buses, the Skytrain, West Coast Express, and Seabus. Enter either a route or stop number, to retrieve real time schedule information. Commonly used stops can be saved for future use. As a special iPhone-y function, turning the phone sideways presents a list of maps.

In a message to the vanajax list, Igor Faletski of Handi writes...

Every second person coming to TransLink's mobile site uses the iPhone, so we had to create an amazing experience for these early adopters. Our goal is to make commuting even better - by providing complete schedule information, alerts, GMail-style favourites and transit maps.

I hope they add being able to just enter intersections and addresses to it soon. Nobody knows stop numbers and crap. I'm just happy this is in the works. Finally, Vancouver gets a Transit app!
 
Simple question.

Any canuck iPhone users using the GPS without the data plan? I mean after jailbreaking it, is the (GPS) performance similar as with the data plan?

Wouldn't you be charged data anyway because it's aGPS? Are you using a fake APN or data block so you can't possibly use any data?

Also, is it just me or is it impossible to hit 6GB of data? I only got 700MB last month @_@ Well, to be fair, last.fm wouldn't work for most of the month... but still. 6GB is basically unlimited.

Yep, something that can block both the EDGE and 3G. Basically using the GPS without the need to download any data. I just want to know hows the performance.

At work, I get couple of reports (pdfs) per day ranging 500kb-1MB. Depends on your type of usage .. ;)

So that's 60 mb a month... ;)

I've used about a gig my first month of 3G.

I expect that to be slightly higher next month as Podcaster really pushed up my data usage as I download podcasts at work with it via 3G.
Getting 6 new ones as I type at about 30MB each.
 
Alright, quick question, even started a thread about it, but was suggested I bring it over here: just got the thing a few days ago, and I love it! But despite the fact that I treat the thing like a newborn baby, or at least I think I do, there's already a bunch of scuffs all around the chrome ring. What the hell? Is it just mine or is everyone's so susceptible? I hear that its the same basic material that were on the back of iPods at one point, where also got scratched up easily, but I never owned one of those.
 
Had my first iPhone screw up. I hadn't synced my phone in a couple of days, so I hooked it up to dl the newest podcasts. My summary page showed nothing but "Other" on the chart at the bottom. I rebooted, tried again, the same thing. I ended up restoring my phone to get it to sync correctly. Kind of frustrating but no biggie I guess.
 
Ok, I just did a system reset of my phone. Now my "Rogers" logo is big and it just shows "ROG" instead of the smaller "Rogers" logo. I know it's not a big deal, but I go to the states and keep my eye on the network being used. Is there a way to reduce the font of the network provider right beside your connection bars on the upper left side, so the whole name of the network shows up?

EG: Like this. See how the whole word: "Cingular" shows up? I'm trying to get my phone to do that.

everybody who's asking, intelliscreen is really awesome and worth the jailbreak.

but i've got a question i hope i can get an answer for:


if i start itunes on a separate computer and login to itunes, do all my purchased/downloaded apps automatically follow me to that computer? or is there a way to backup all those apps on my old computer to migrate to a new one?

That's what I did to my phone so far and I finally got the NES to work. I like the simple and plain look.

All in all, I am really glad I decided to jailbreak the phone. There is so much more you can do with it jailbroken
 
Guys, please help me. I'm stuck.

I can't get my iphone to synch with Itunes. My phone was locked to Fido previously and I had it unlocked to Rogers. I did a full restore (with my own itunes account) and now the phone is stuck in "emergency mode". I can send and receive phone calls, but I can't access the phone apps itself, ie settings, contacts, etc... No matter what I do, I can't get the phone to sync to itunes. I called apple and they can't find a solution. Someone PLEASE help!!!!!

Doesn't recognize my unlocked sim card in DFU - I assume you mean, holding the Home button down while connecting to itunes. It asks me to restore when I do that, but after restoring, it stays the way it is (in Emergency mode). Someone said I need to jailbreak it. I can still make and receive phone calls so my sim card is working. But that's it. It's frustrating the hell out of me.
