Well I fixed my wifi problems... by installing a new router. :D 2.x really seems to hate B-only routers.

Now everything is perfect though, full wifi bars, and app store awesomeness (I had been in 1.1.4 until I sorted out the wifi issues with 2.x). God I love my Touch, I've had it for months and it still amazes me every day.

Oh and Galcon is ridiculously awesome.

Ok, I just did a system reset of my phone. Now my "Rogers" logo is big and it just shows "ROG" instead of the smaller "Rogers" logo. I know it's not a big deal, but I go to the states and keep my eye on the network being used. Is there a way to reduce the font of the network provider right beside your connection bars on the upper left side, so the whole name of the network shows up?

EG: Like this. See how the whole word: "Cingular" shows up? I'm trying to get my phone to do that.

Just so you know, the rogers logo is always all caps, it'll never be lowercase (at least now on any rogers iPhone I've seen). Still weird how it limits it to ROG though.

As for your current problem, I honestly don't know where you can go short of taking it to an apple store and getting it checked out. Does iTunes say anything when you connect the phone? What happens? It might be an issue using a fido phone on the rogers network although I doubt it.

So I jailbroke my iPhone last night and, I gotta say, PDAnet and Intelliscreen are completely awesome, useful and worth the hassle of restoring from scratch.

Being able to hide app icons I don't need (bye bye contacts) and turn off different radios with Bossprefs is also a nice bonus.

also, check out my totally awesome, bling theme. OMG, isn't it bitchin'? Apple wishes it could come up with something this slick.

this piece of crap is not my theme. I still love all you crazy, customizing kids, though.

Is there a way to keep my alarm on but turn the ringers and other notifications off? I use my phone as my alarm clock and don't always want to hear the ringer at night.

With all due respect, that one of the ugliest POS Ive ever seen. Same goes with almost every single other theme Ive seen in this thread.

I'm amazed someone thought I was serious :lol

I guess it's the whole deal with sarcasm not translating well into text.

anyway, in all seriousness, Intelliscreen is so great that I'll probably end up buying it (10 bucks) after the trial. a better use of 10 bucks that fucking twitchy super monkey ball, that's for sure.

Anyone changing the Safari logo to Internet Explorer should have their phones immediately disabled and wiped.

I'm not even sure joking about it is acceptable LCfiner. ;)

The IE symbol is pretty bad. I also like the diamonds making up the "face" on the mobile finder icon.

I just wanted to continue the tradition of new owners who jailbreak their phone and then immediately post their new, customized home screens. Unfortunately, I didn't modify mine so I needed a substitute.

I think I did a decent job finding one the dumbest, most visually offensive themes out there :lol

No question. :lol citizenkaneclap.gif

There's an even better theme that is all Caterpillar tractors.
I think that blinged out one could be worse though.

It's hard to find visually appealing themes, which is why it's better to make your own.

Jailbreak for the win, there's some really great useful apps.
Get Podcaster LCFiner if you're into that.

right now, i get all the utility i need from the podcaster webapp. i sync up my iphone nightly so it's rare that i need a standalone app for downloading podcasts on the go (and i think it costs 5 bucks). I did start using Scrobbled for the ipod app last.fm integration.

oh and backgrounder means I can stream podcasts thru safari (and use last.fm and flycast) while using other apps. once again, great utility added via the jailbreak community :)

I love Scrobble. (haven't tried Scrobbled) but they should be essentially the same.

The only thing I'm missing from pre-2.0 era apps is iFlickr which allowed me to post to flicker in full res and in correct orientation. I do miss that.

Not even the pay apps can do it correctly in the app store.

I promised myself I would not buy games for the iPhone because that would start a slippery slope for me. Now I think I am going to have to break that promise. If Hasboro decides to release Risk I am done for.

It's funny because I never bought so many "under 5$" games & apps before. At that price, I really think they're worth at least 1-2h of playtime.

This.

SimCity will be mine and I don't care if I broke my promise!

Go to AppStore right now and download Lux.

Thank me later.

Anyone use twinkle at all?

It's a twitter app that also let's you see all the folks posting near you (and you can set how close that is). You don't even have to post a tweet, as the app provides it's own posting service.

Pretty damn cool and kept me busy last night while I was waiting for someone to get home last night.

What. The. Shit.
Slide for emergency? What is this dickery? I was just rebooting my phone and now I can't do shit with it? What in the hell happened here.

why is it that gmail always cause "cannot get mail" errors? It still gets the mail, just that infuriating pop up still comes up again and again every time now. It wasn't always the case.

Oh, this sounds excellent.

I think coming up in Mid-November, I'll prepare an iPhone Holiday Gaming Guide for the gaming board, and seed it with tried and true titles in this thread's lurkers that have proved the test of time, versus those that haven't

LOL! What the fuck does that do for usability? So you get an option to either slide to the next screen like normal or press a button to have icons fly all over the place?
Try it, it works well when you have a ton of apps.
Much faster than sliding.

I prefer using Quickgold though.

Slide for emergency is the only thing on a new, unactivated phone.

Okay, something Apple needs to fix asap: let me choose the fucking Alarm volume so it stays that way. There is just no excuse for having the volume for music be the same as the volume for your ringtones, and worse, your alarm. Right now I have to remember to set the volume on the phone all the way up every night, because if I don't, it might not wake me up in the morning (like today). It's pretty fucking retarded.

That's I got my phone when it was new. You're supposed to hook it up to iTunes and it unbricks it for you. Don't know why you're getting it now.

Just flip the silent switch, the alarm still sounds when the phone is in silent mode.

You don't have to have the stack curved. I use it mainly cause my second page is full of games and it's quicker to have a few extra apps stored on the first page. It's also very quick and smooth.

You're retarded.

Instead of cycling through 5 pages of icons you can just hit the stack and access Applications that you frequently use.

Here's my stance on this, and just about anyone that isn't a total app whore can see it: every time people like you bring up "five pages of icons," do you ever stop to think about how many icons on each page you actually use daily? I have four pages, but I only use what's on my first two pages, and the two final pages just have random crap on it.

Saying you have five pages to scroll through is a sad copout, because unless you have insane OCD for every neat little thing that comes out on the App Store or Cydia, you're not using all of them all the time. The stack is unnecessary.

Understood, but every person has their own "Icon System."

I don't have mine organized (like you) in order of Most-Used. Mine are in categories.

First page is all Default Apple Stuff, Second page is all internet junk, 3rd page is Games, 4th page is all Jailbroken Apps/Settings.

I like my setup neat like that and the Stack gives me the quickest options while still maintaining my Icon System.

everybody who's asking, intelliscreen is really awesome and worth the jailbreak.

but i've got a question i hope i can get an answer for:

if i start itunes on a separate computer and login to itunes, do all my purchased/downloaded apps automatically follow me to that computer? or is there a way to backup all those apps on my old computer to migrate to a new one?

There's an app called swap library that lets you sync between 2 computers. I use it all the time, but I'm on 1.1.4.

If you're jailbroken, you should use Quick Gold instead of this inane 80 page category crap.

I didn't have too much luck with Quick Gold. It was making my Double-Click to get to Favorites act funny so I got rid of Quick Gold.

Also, Intelliscreen is worth jailbreaking for.

Some people use their iPhone and apps differently, imagine that.
