So far I've found..
-Incipio Feather
-goincase
-switcheasy
-griffintechnology
-vaja
-pants pocket
I'd like something with screen protection. I see some candidates. But nothing is OMG sexy.
I was looking at that. I think I'll get the switcheasy Pure, but I have my eyes set on the Vaja Blackn'Red LE.giga said:

where are some awesome/sexy cases?
That's what I have, only for my Touch 2G. It's amazing. I get compliments on my case all the time.giga said:
DeathNote said:So I'm confused about jailbreaking...
PwnageTool vs QuickPwn vs WinPwn? Are there any others? What's the difference?
Also, my 3g Iphone is brand new, so it has the latest firmware. Seems like there is a problem with unlocking on the latest version? I don't need to unlock tho..
Ok, I see, thanks.Dez said:Basically, you should be using QuickPwn unless you want to do custom firmwares or something fancy. You cannot jailbreak or unlock on the latest firmware yet. Check settings, general, about -> version.. if you're at 2.2(5g77) or below, you should be ok. 2.2.1 is the latest.

I got it the 28th, and .1 released the 27th. I don't have my phone on me right now to check because i'm waiting on a case to arrive and haven't bought the protection plan yet. I guess I have to wait unless you can downgrade?
I'm glad it's unlikely. Yeah, I see the warning now here(How they want you to wait for their custom 2.2.1 firmware.).Dez said:It's unlikely that your iphone got packaged with the new firmware. Unless they upgraded it for you in the store. And apparently, you cannot downgrade your firmware (i assume, otherwise there wouldn't be such warnings not to upgrade)
did it work? Don't see any reason why it wouldn't except maybe the newest mac laptops win the latest osx update...DeathNote said:So, I checked out my new Iphone's firmware. It's apples 2.2(5g77). Will there be a problem jailbreaking it since it's not a custom firmware?
If there's no problem, I assume I follow these steps?
http://www.iphonehacks.com/2009/01/jailbreak3g-win.html
"If your iPhone 3G firmware Version is 2.2 (5G77) and Modem Firmware is 02.28.00 then you are ready to jailbreak your iPhone 3G, you can skip directly to "Jailbreak iPhone 3G using QuickPwn" below. "

It gets to the portion where it transfers the purchases from my phone back to iTunes, and the progress bar stops moving. Actually, that implies that it started moving. It doesn't. I've had it sitting there for over an hour now. I've googled and found nothing that's helped.
Anyone know what's going on? I've rebooted everything involved several times.
DopeyFish said:did you buy anything large? just delete on the phone and download on itunes i've downloaded huge things and it would take like 30 minutes to sync
I have the same case. It really is awesome and helps to make your phone look a little different than the other 13 million iPhone out there.DeathNote said:Bought my case. Vaja Black n' Red. So sessy.
Alright, so, is their a '3G essentials' post anywhere that I can be directed to? Like essential Apps, settings for better battery life, etc.
Oh wait, I need to decide if I want to jail break it or not.
Did not get a data package, but have WiFi at home and work, and downtown has hot spots like crazy so decided to save some cash.

Nope, brand new. I am in Canada...Rogers. Here you can get one without data.btrboyev said:did you buy it second hand? You cannot buy an iphone from at&t or apple without a data plan.

I was going to ask GAF about this. My wife was interested in an iPhone but she is not interested in the data plan (I don't understand it either).NYR said:Nope, brand new. I am in Canada...Rogers. Here you can get one without data.

Is it possible to do this with an unlocked 2G phone? She is already on AT&T, I just wanted to know if she could just slide in a sim card and have it working right out of the box.
check the goodness of the usb port on your machine. also, check the iph for oxidation over the device port - i had an ipt replaced for that - would charge, but would not sync at all, or would accidentally sync but really, really seldomly, often with hang-ups in the middle of the sync. and basically, a word of advice - take care of your iph/ipt device port, as that thing is the achilles heel of the series.White Man said:Arrrrrrghghghghhghgh. How do turn this thing off at night? I don't need it on at night at all - just wondering how to shut it off - is it off when it is in the "stand by" mode or a real turn off when you hold it down and then do the slide to power it off?
Just wondering if there is any disadvantage to the full power off - just noticed it takes awhile to load whn I turned it on if I power down...
DopeyFish said:battery still drains in standby... approximately 12 days it would take until it would die
hold it down to power off completely
