From reading comments on the jailbreak pages, it sounds like a complete crapshoot if you have success or a broken phone and I don't need a broken phone.
Bebpo said:How do you block calls? I keep getting a stupid automated message on a daily basis and I can't figure out how to ignore/block the number on my iphone.
If you have problems, they'll be software-related, and easily fixed by reverting back to not being jailbroken. It's not like things that go wrong can't be undone if it's a software tweak. Yeesh.RevenantKioku said:I was reading the comments on the QuickPwn page. Results ranged from phones that wouldn't boot up to issues for having a certain version of Macbook Pros that needed special settings or something or not working entirely.
It was far from encouraging.
Will this wipe all the settings on my phone? I recall reading that people who tried to go from phones that already had settings on them often couldn't complete it and had to put everything back manually. Not exactly an enticing offer.
And no, you guys haven't given me one reason in favor of jailbreaking yet. I know that I can solve my problem, but since it seems like the chances of having more problems is higher than zero it makes me a little squeamish to consider.
RevenantKioku said:Ugh, Cydia is saying that an essential upgrade is needed, but it times out before it downloads. This kind of shit is what I was talking about.
Okay, I've been hunting through the thread but missed what I believe I need to know.
How does this affect syncing from now on?
How does this affect my backups? In fact, non jailbreaking question, how many of my backups are kept anyway?
General iPhone question. Can you sync without having it do a backup?
Bad MP3s. I had an iPod nano that wouldn't play a certain album, but that album played fine on my iPhone and computer. Re-ripped it and it plays fine on everything now.Angry Grimace said:Question:
I just got a new iPhone. I love it, if it worked right. My biggest problem is that when I use the iPod function, it simply cuts out and stops about ~1 minute into any song I play. Any clues? Common issue? Setting that's FUBAR'd?
Weird. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.Liu Kang Baking A Pie said:Bad MP3s. I had an iPod nano that wouldn't play a certain album, but that album played fine on my iPhone and computer. Re-ripped it and it plays fine on everything now.
If it really is every single song you have, it might be a defective phone.
Your iTunes Library is just an XML file with the files to point to. I don't know how it is on PC, but on Mac it's in my generic OS X music folder, and I have an "iTunes Library" file and a "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder. If you have some previous iTunes libraries, try to copy one back to the original place and name it "iTunes Library" and it should be fine again.reggieandTFE said:***PC Itunes Help***
This doesn't deserve its own thread, but I figured I'd ask here. I have a 2-month old Sony VAIO laptop that is my base for my iTunes and iPhone. Last night I let my girlfriend use my laptop to burn a DVD and while she was looking for the right program she accidentally opened this stupid VAIO 'content analyzer' program. I shut it when I got my computer back, thinking nothing of it.
Today, I opened iTunes to listen some music and my library was...empty. I first flipped out before going into the iTunes Music folder and seeing that all my files were still there. Weird. I then opened WMP and, lo and behold, all of my music was in there. I added the iTunes Music folder back into my iTunes and checked my defaults in control panel. Surprisingly, mp3, AACs, etc. were still defaulted to be played in iTunes.
After waiting for my iTunes to transfer back in and another hour waiting for the covers to redownload and the gapless analysis to finish I reset my laptop. Same bull-shit. My iTunes is empty, but all my files are still in my iTunes folder.
Any one have any experience with iTunes acting like this? I'd really like to add some new music I bought on my iPhone, but don't want to sync it until this is worked out.

I managed to track down Tris (Tetris clone). Where in the file directory do I put the tris.ipa? I placed it where I had another .ipa of a game I bought 'block break deluxe 2' but it doesn't show up.

That car insurance spam call is affecting a lot of people I guess. I called my provider the other day and they said they couldn't block the number but it was funny because the CSR I talked to had been getting the same calls too on his cell. He said if you actually listen to the recording there will be an option (press 2) to take yourself off their calling list and that he hadn't gotten a call since he did that. I haven't tried it yet but I will next time I get the call.cvxfreak said:Car warranty about to expire?
I get those phone calls often too. ARGH WANNA AXE SOMEONE TO PIECES

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having two accounts vs. changing countries on the account details, besides convenience? Am I allowed unlimited, whenever changes to the country?
How does syncing apps with multiple stores/accounts work exactly? Would I have to log in to the appropriate store before checking for updates for those apps, or does it just check all apps regardless of store (like podcasts)? If I had apps from several stores on the SAME account, would it repeatedly pop up "Sorry that app is not available in your country" every time I checked for updates?

I'm not sure which folder you mean. I see a ton of temp files in my music folder, but not database ones.My cousin had a similar problem, sometimes just losing the app and reopening was enough for the files to disappear from itunes. Do you see a lot of fake itunes database files in the folder? I kept deleting and re-adding then finally gave up.

i also hope they get their act together with push notifications. that would be very useful and has been delayed far too long.

It's been on a number of blogs recently.
And who cares about Push notification. Lets hope they allow for background apps. That would be FAR better.
