I'm surprised this thread hasn't seen a visit from the "that's what you GET when your MP3 player can't play video" iRiver crew.
waste of time really... especially when i can't decide on if i should get a 5GB or 6GB H10...

The tiny screen makes the whole movie watching experience pointless on those iRiver.

Get a PSP and 1GB memory stick for movie watching action.

ipod shuffle is a piece of shit, 1 gb or 2 gb of music for $150+ is so not worth it.

now the ipod is not bad, but with so many mp3 players on the market these days, it's not surprising that sales would be down.

I think people who won't buy an iPod just because they want to be "different" are just as big a tool as people who will buy iPods because it's the "in" thing, when for them, a simple flash player would be more than sufficient. I have the 20gb model iPod (I wanted one with a decent amount of storage), and although I think it's pretty overpriced, it works great for what I want to do with it. The jogwheel makes scrolling through songs simple (especially since I have a lot of hour plus long mixes and sometimes I like to skip to specific parts). I don't really care much for iTunes, I'd rather have a drag and drop interface, but it's a minor complaint. I don't use the iTunes Music Store at all.

Not buying a product just because you don't want to be associated with a brand is, indeed, retarded, but this is not to say they're aren't better options out there compared to the iPod, particularly the Shuffle. One of the beefs I have with the Shuffle (apart from its price compared to its features) is its forced integration with iTunes. With the MuVo and most other flash and HD-based players, the player is just treated as any other external storage device and you plop MP3 files on it as you would any other file. I prefer that, some people prefer iTunes, and thus the Interweb turns.
