Irrational Mac hate

Is your campus/workplace filled with an overwhelmingly irrational Mac hatred? Because let me tell you what, kids around these parts hate Macs with a vengence.
I know, people are lazy, and they don't want to learn something new, but honestly- these are far superior machines for everything but gaming. It used to not bother me as much, but if I hear another snide comment about it not coming with a FUCKING PAINT PROGRAM or not being able to run PokerStars, I'm going to go on a rampage.

When you use a Mac, the terrorists win.

Nooo way, CS doesn't work for Mac. :D And that's a plus towards Mac, anyhow.

Only if you use Linux are you a terrorist. Not to say that I'm not planning on partitioning my HD to put Linux on, but you understand!!

I love macs and love pcs. Macs are not superior in every way but gaming. Neither are pcs. My first computer was a mac and second was a 286. Can't we just live in harmony?

I love my iBook, but when Macs don't have basic software like AutoCad then it is not up to par.

I love the hardware, but PC faithful have a lot of reasons to love their box as well. Though I think the hate is unwarrented, because apple makes a slick machine when all is said and done.

I'm less anti-Apple now than I used to be, although that's primarily because Jobs no longer profits from Apple -- right?

Jobs is a twit. Did good work with Pixar, though...

I'll be getting a snazzy mac one I have some more cash. :) I'm tired of Microsoft's damn stuff. BTW is Firefox available for Mac users?

Yep Firefox sure is. Safari is pretty much the same though anyhoo (tabbed browsing, popup blocking etc.), without extensions however.

Can we hate the Lisa and merely dislike the Mac?

One thing I -do- hate is when folks use "Macintosh" as the name of the company.

This really is bizarre. You only seem to reply Mac-baiting, and you're always there within the first 10 replies. Are you always lurking on the forum 24/7, but only replying to Mac-related threads? Or is it just some strange coincidence that you happen to show up when someone wants to talk about Macs? =P

I have a bot searching the forums 24/7 for anything Mac related. BEWARE OF MY BOT!

Macs are... okay. It's a myth that they're more stable than a PC though. I have just as many crashes on Macs as I do on PCs running Windows.

And even i am moderately surprised
we have too many mac zealots at work

"Yeah, well, i plug a camera into my mac and BANG! it recognises it right away! i dont' have to do anything... betcha wish PCs were that easy...."

erm.... okay....

Seriously, i'd happily use a mac if the fucking users wouldn't keep raming it down my throat about how amazing they are compared to PCs (especially when they are throwing out of date info about PC OS's), one went as far as to suggest i get one because "macs can emulate PCs anyways" - i humoured this person with "well, how does it handle my graphics card?" "What is it?" "Sparkle GeForce 6800" - "oh, it'll be fine, it does it all in software and most of the stuff will run quicker than on an actual PC anyways" .... ????

One phenomenom that i enjoy - if something goes wrong for our mac zealots , no mater how bad it is, they put the blame on themselves ("oh, i must have just clicked something wrong") where as if there is a similar problem with the PC, it's "OH FUCKING MICROSOFT!!! FUCKING SUCKS!!!! I HATE PCS!!!!"

Anyways, i'm sure there are as many annoying PC zealots out there.

AutoCad is NOT basic software. Does your mother look for it when sshe sets up a new PC? WTF?

I hate Macs. Sure they do some things better then a PC, but I can't help feeling like I'm using a fisher price computer when I'm on one. Everything seems dumbed down....but in a bad way.

Eh, I love my iBook, and I've had significantly less issues with it than I had with my Vaio.

I was also a CS major, so I got no end of berating for using it. I felt like I was in fucking grade-school. Seriously, one kid just kept murmuring "crapintosh" during a class.

Odd that in business classes I get nothing except the occasional remark from a neighbor or professor "Oh, you use a mac? I don't like them."

Dumbed down? Please explain. Just because something is easy does not make it dumbed down.

That's one thing I used to rag on myself before I actually owned one. A lot of that simplicity goes a long way to getting things done so much faster. Whenever I'm forced to use a PC, I try to do a lot of drag n' drop and find that its just not allowed, and it makes me sad.
And the lack of expose on other systems drives me mad now.

I stick to my PC because the advantage of Macs, their ease of use, is often irrelevant since I've been a capable PC user since I was 6 years old. Simple pros (easy to use) vs cons (lack of software support, higher prices) help me figure I don't need or want a mac. Plus Mac users are total dorks :p

Ummm.... excuse me? Explain yourself.

Design work, mac's soon become quivvering bottlenecked pieces of poo at the first sign of a high-res image, in my experience. Don't even get me started on the virtual memory issue's.
Not tried maya under osx, but if i wanted a slow down in performance due to shitty graphics, but compensate that with a nice swishy effect when minmizing, i'll be sure to hook it up.

Not tried anything under OSX, apparently...

Well, trying to talk sense to Mac fanatics is i guess rather irrational. :p

Well apparently mac user's feel one mouse button is adequate....please. Hey, I have to work on one everyday, and rebuild the desktop most days too. Great.

When the entire operating system is designed to work just fine with one button, then yes, it's fine. But there are plenty of Mac users who use 3rd party, two-button (and - you may want to sit down for this - three button) mice.

First off, any Mac user with a brain buys a 2 button mouse. Apple is in fact stupid for not packing in 2 button mice with their hardware but you can't hold that against a random "Mac User."

2nd, why are you using OS 9 and rebuilding the desktop? Did you just start using Win98 SE too?

It's work machine and apparently according to our studio head, OS 9 is the only one 'stable' enough.
I don't really care, I go home to my nice pc and the end of the day, telling it tall tales of one button mouse's and working directly off the desktop. How we laugh. We laugh hard. That's all I'm saying, I've succeeded in raising the pulse of you mac folk.

Bitching about Macs and admitting to still using OS 9 is like someone bitching about Windows and in the same breath saying that they're still using Windows 95.

Be that as it may, you clearly need to re-read, 'it's a works machine'. I have no control over what goes on, although I offer my bitching daily.

Regardless, you're voicing your opinion based on experience with a Mac that's probably on the verge of needing to be replaced. Imagine this discussion if the "sides" were switched. Someone comes up to you, tells you that "Windows machines blow," and proceeds to tell you exactly what's wrong with "That damn Windows 95."

Would you take them seriously?

I have used OSX, and besides there's many other issue's I have with them. End of the day, we part our separate ways young one. My way will just be higher and mightier with a Microsoft logo and a two buttoned mouse (as standard) swinging overhead.
