i know its been asked many times before but i dont think its ever been confirmed as legal or not.

there was a recent investigation in russia about the site but in russia the website is legal so that end of it all is "legit".

but my question is if i download music off this website do i legally own it? i know it may not be ethical but im just curious about the legality of it all. its not really worth buying music (even for pennies) if im not really going to legally own it.

No. From what I gather, the site is not even legal in Russia. If you want artists to be compensated for your downloads then stick with Napster or iTunes.

It was recently ruled that it wasn't illegal in Russia as it doesn't distribute physical goods, IIRC.
