Is anyone on GAF a dentist? And if so do you enjoy torturing people?

Weird this thread popped up. I have a dentist appt tomorrow and 3 of my 4 wisdom teeth have came in. All of them are straight so far and the 4th one that hasn't "popped out" yet doesn't seem to be coming in crooked.

Am I going to have to get them removed?

i'm 30 and i still have mine, they came in fine

I've probably had more dental surgery than all of GAF combined. :lol

Seriously, you get food? That's ridiculous. When I went I got knocked out, and a few seconds later (for me at least) I was outta there. No big deal, and I had one that was pretty in there too. Add into the account that the pain killers they gave me made me vomit (image, vomiting when you got your teeth removed not twenty minutes ago) made it suck, I think, I'm not sure. All I remember was walking to the car from the dentist, then vomiting in a toilet, then waking up in my bed. I also just got a root canal which wasn't nearly as bad as everyone says it is.

...he gave u Udon and rice.. WTF?

don't drink from a straw... but let me give you these noodles to suck on.

Just had 6 fillings put in earlier this year. That's what I get for avoiding the dentist's chair for about 10 years. I'm surprised my teeth weren't in worse shape, honestly.

Anyways, it was torture. I hate that stupid scrapey pick thing so much.

Dentists really help people. I know the process itself isn't much fun, but they don't do it to hurt you, they do it to help you. It's like getting mad at a doctor because they pop your shoulder back in.

Yeah and hot tea, which also not good for the blood clotting procedure. here is hoping I don't get a dry socket!

I went today to get the area cleaned. He said the bottom left one(which is one that is swelling pretty bad) was extremely difficult to get out.

And then I get home with a call from my boss saying the vice principal at school is angry that I didn't come in today. Now I wish I was there so I could spit/drool some blood all over her desk.

I once had a dentist pull two of my teeth out before the novicaine kicked in.

Ever since I've been deathly afraid of dentists for some reason.

Yeah because of the way the wisdom tooth impacted on one of the neighboring teeth I had to have a root canal. He did part of it one day, patched me up and told me to come in the next day which already had me going WTF.

Next day he starts the procedure again without even attempting to give me a shot. All it took was one tap and I was like "oh fuck I think you forgot something"

Ow, that sucks.

I had my wisdom teeth out a couple weeks ago. Smooth, relatively painless procedure. Went in, got knocked out, then next thing I know I'm on my way home.

Then again, mine were just on the verge of needing to be taken out. Only the bottom ones were at any sort of angle, and only then just barely.

Okay maybe this is just Japanese dentists but it really boggles my mind sometimes.

I have had about two weeks of dentist appointments because of wisdom teeth coming in. The two on the left side impacted when they hit the teeth next to them. So today was the surgery day and I guess it went as well as something can when it involves breaking jaw bone and lots of blood. I asked to be knocked out, but unfortunately like most things in Japan it wasn't enough. I guess I came through once. Fuck that was the most painful thing I have felt. I guess they figured out i needed the foreigner sized dose and pumped more in because it only happened once.

Eventually i woke up in the wheel chair on the way to my room. Doctor came in and gave me my teeth as they hooked me up to an IV. One was broken in half I guess because it was lodged in too tight. So I get hooked up to the IV and oxygen tank and go nighty night. Wake up in I guess 2-3 hours for lunch. What the hell did the doc order me for lunch?

Goddamn white rice and udon(not the artist who has no idea about muscle definition the fat japanese noodles).

Well I now know why I read that you shouldn't drink from a straw after having teeth pulled. The suction process somehow messes with the blood clot and just hurts like hell. And combine that with the fact that white rice isn't really the best thing to cover up THE TASTE OF BLOOD.

So now I am just going to sit here and hope that somehow these crappy Japanese painkillers just have some miracle "kick in two hours late" feature.

you're complaining cause white rice doesnt cover blood taste, and sucking making you feel weird?

you should complain cause you're getting tiny rice into these massive gaping holes in your face where they are going to sit and cause infections, and because the sucking of the noodles- wait, why the fuck are you sucking noodles? use a fucking spoon you crazy fuck. or you're going to break the clot and have blood streaming through your mouth what the fuckity fuck.

Man taking out your wisdom teeth is annoying. The initial pinching you feel when they stick a needle in your mouth is so bad. Then you can actually feel the teeth being cut. It doesn't hurt but it sure is freaky. Then you have to deal with hours with a numb mouth full of blood.

I'm so happy it's only a one-time experience. Except for some unlucky people like me. My jaw had one wisdom tooth on each side but there's a third above in one side of my mouth. It hasn't come out yet. I hope that it never does. I don't want to deal with that again.

Also yeah be sure not to suck anything through a straw. It can open up the clots and if you're unlucky it can make your breath smell bad because of something having to do with that. Luckily that never happened to me.

The scrapey pick thing is called a dental explorer.

No one likes needles. If you did like them, I would have a problem with it. Stop telling us you don't like needles. You have both arms covered in tatoos and you are complaining of a 30 gauge needle? :lol

If your wisdom tooth is at 90 degrees, it's called a full bony impaction.

Remember that MD's spend 90% of the time diagnosing and 10% treating.
Dentists spend 10% of the time diagnosing and 90% treating.

I really wish I could get some american medication. I don't know what this crap they give is but its barely better than goddamn aspirin.

I asked for stronger meds today and he said the only thing he could give me was a suppository. :( Oh well.

I have had terrible experiences as well.

Last 2 times involved trimming chunks that were hanging off my tongue after I bit my tongue wrong. Bastard started using some lazer shit and got the medicine wrong for numbing or something. He got that on the third try and I was able to deal with the sizzling tongue.

The bad one was just a normal drilling, not even a root canal. Perhaps I'm a pussy but I think he kept fucking up my medicine if it is based on weight at all?

It took all my might to deal with the hurting drilling and chipping of my tooth. I was ripping apart the arms on the chair and every dip of that drill would push me as far as possible into the seat.

Once it felt like the damn drill got stuck on something and I had to grab the guys wrist so the tool wasn't in use, then I got up from the chair and started screaming in that fuckers face. I eventuall got through it but fuck me I am so damaged I want to be knocked the fuck out for everything.

What is up with those general medicines? Everybody different or based on weight? Fuck.

I was knocked out cold when I got my wisdom teeth pulled.
Then my Mom and Girlfriend took me to a video rental place and I rented 13 movies I had already seen.
Then my Mom took my vicodin and gave me 100 dollars to buy pot with.
The my best friend came over and made me soup.

It sucked, but it was rad.

As said before, not everybody's wisdom teeth can simply be pulled. None of mine have passed through the gum, but my dentist keeps telling me to get a consult because the bottom ones are close to cutting into the normal teeth.

Yeah, mines didn't sprout yet but were growing towards my molars. They had to cut open my gums and pull them out. Having stitches in your mouth sucks :lol I had all four of my wisdom tooth removed under Novocain. Surprisingly wasn't that bad being awake with drills and scalpels being shoved in your mouth. The cute dental assistant sucking out my excess saliva helped occupied my mind from the oral horror.

Phft, it took TWO HOURS to get TWO of my wisdom teeth out, with just regular old anesthesia.

I HEARD the crunch when he drilled through the bone. I FELT the crack when the tooth broke in half, and I SAW the gusher of blood spray onto his shirt.

Like a man.

And then a month later, we did the other two. This time, 2.5 hours.

Am I the only one who brings their iPod and turns it up as loud as I can bear it? Works better than any anesthetic does. Anyway, being so young and neglectful of my teeth I can only imagine the horrors that await me in my future.

fml.

I had to get my wisdom teeth out at an early age and had it done on my motherfucking birthday. I was zoned the fuck out after the procedure was done.

Just got back from the dentist. I choke every five seconds when they start drilling and stuff =/ Even with the suction thing there. It brought back childhood memories which I thought were long forgotten.
