Is anyone watching season 4 of The Expanse?

I watched the first episode and was kinda bored. I also hate that Naomi now looks like Miles Dyson from Terminator 2.

I guess I'll keep pushing through when I've got nothing better to do.

I only seen up to SEASON 2 but really enjoyed it. Season 2 was so much better than the first.

It definitely got an update on visuals (looks really good) but i thought it was the weakest season so far. They had to also make everyone dumb for some reason which i did not enjoy.

That doesn't motivate me to keep going as I was already kinda bored. Making everyone dumb to stretch out an episode is one of my least favorite writing styles for a show.

It was good, not as good as season 3 though, which I think was the best.

Apparently the book that season 4 was based off of is regarded as the worst/boringest book of the series. So a lot of book readers said they actually thought the show did a good job making things better, while still not as good as the other seasons.

I binged the entire 4 seasons in 5 days earlier this month after a friend told me about the show. I started season 1 and was instantly hooked. It's like Halo (pre-Covenenat)/Firefly/Stargate all had a baby and that baby is awesome.

I'm reading through the books now as well, to see how they differ.

Right there with you. I completed the season but it was forgettable. Still if you plan on seeing more which should get better hopefully might as well get it over with.

There's a quote from the authors somewhere about how after you do a red wedding you can't really expect a book/show to have nothing but red weddings from then on. You need time to set up new plot lines.

Yeah, 1-3 was a story, 4-6 are another, and 7-9 are supposed to be the end.

I thought they did a good job keeping it interesting, the Martian stuff was interesting but not super exciting, but I can see how it's building to the next season.

I hope they get to do all 9 books into seasons!

Binged the crap out of it in two days and thought it was pretty decent considering the material it was based off. Saying that though a lot of the episodes are slow and plodding and I have to admit I glazed over at times. I had no interest in rewinding the episode to see what I had missed.

Watched the whole season in one day. Made me go read book 5 to figure out what happened. I am so stoked for the new season and so happy Amazon saved it. #screamingFirehawks for life

Can't wait for more. Just ordered the books. I hear the show follows them fairly well, but moves around where some of the characters are at the time events happen in places.

Yep. I kinda liked that the latest season was a change of pace, it worked for me.

From what I've read so far (half way through book 1) it really does line up pretty good so far, a few things are changed, though I read an interview somewhere where the writers (who are involved with the show) took the TV opportunity to revise their own writings in a 2.0 kinda way, and fix/change a few things they ended up not as happy with.

I liked it quite a bit. Sure it’s not as exciting at the other seasons but I enjoy that it was a smaller story with an interesting mystery.

The Expanse has always suffered from pacing issues for me. They reaaaalllyy drag out some stuff but then rushrealfast through other stuff. I feel like they want to give all the characters similar screen time each episode rather than just lump their story into a single focused episode and move on. A GoT style structure of "this ep shows this story, that ep shows another" probably would have worked better this season even though there is a bit of cross communication between plots.

Still, best scifi show since forever.

The Expanse is great.
I've read all the books and they have done a better job with Season 4 than with the book.
They fixed a lot of issues, made a lot of choices that are going to pay off in Season 5.

There was clearly a pacing issue and i think they could have used less dialog and more cinematic shot like you see in the first episode.

The biggest problem for me what the 180 they did with Avasarala's husband.
Most of these scene were wasted and a betrayal of his character from the previous seasons.

Otherwise, they have a great casting director and their production team is getting better every year.

I've watched every episode, but never read any of the books.

I found season 4 to be a bit lacking, but I can see why Amazon would want to make it a building-season. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with it, but it just felt a bit slow compared to seasons 2 and 3.
This one was more of a builder, which I can totally understand from Amazon, given they've just acquired the IP. They want to make sure the views keep coming.

They've made it pretty clear, though, that the next season is going to have all kinds of craziness. If it doesn't, I'll be disappointed.

Season 1 is still my favorite, though. I wish the show had kept up with that noir-esque mystery theme. The rest of the show is still really good; but it's more of an action show now, rather than a weird mystery to uncover.

I am 4 episodes into season 4. I will not spoil anything. At least not without spoiler tags. My biggest gripe(albeit somewhat insignificant), is just how liberally the show has now become with profanity. I kinda liked how it was before. Now, I do not read the books so it could certainly be filled with far worse. However, as far as the show has been... it seems to be slightly jarring to me to go from some profanity for extra effect to HBO in the streets at times. Yeah yeah, I know this is Amazon running the show(had to say it cause someone is going to immediately bring it up) on prime and not Scifi. I do totally dig the direction the show has gone. I was not entirely sure where they would go with the story after season 3 ended.

There is so much left to watch but this show is one of the few that keeps on giving.

I did not like how Naomi had this huge ordeal in gravity so far. They then in episode 3 tried to explain that a few others had this problem and they all died and that she has these same symptoms. Ironically, it appears that she is probably the only one that at least PREPARED to be in gravity. The others not so much, yet an entire small colony of belters is just chilling just fine. I also am not a fan of how they have written Chrisjen's husband so far. Murty is played by a total awesome actor. He is so good at selling his character. It is so easy to hate him for being so hard nosed but when you think about it. Wouldn't you be super pissed if you realized what the belters were doing? Now I do not know what else comes in the future but the show is so good at creating these interesting conflict of characters.

The belters on the planet had like 6 months or a year or something to get acclimated to the planet. The ones who didn't/couldn't stayed on the ship in orbit.. Or died. But there was plenty time for them to adjust. They also all took the gravity meds and stuff too. It wasn't all super clear but it makes sense. The time skip during the first episode was kind of weird.

Well, there is still the big issue, namely the protomolecule civilization with their insane tech and all that - something killed them off and it's still out there.

As far as the show goes, he seemed like such a small and boring part of it that I doubt it'd change the show much.

I never did watch past the first episode of the new season. That shit was boring as AF fuck.

This is a weak ass accusation by a second hand source. Of course shes a danger hair, place your bets if we ever hear from the two people she's speaking for also having danger hair.

Are there any actual receipts on this stuff or is it all just Twitter accusations? Because personally I find it a little irksome that people are getting thrown under the Bus based on hearsay. Also, the idea that given Anvar played a big role in saving the show after it got cancelled and now they're probably going to cancel his career is kind of nuts. Semi-famous single guy hits on fans...the utter shock....😯

I've watched seasons 1-3 and a few episodes into 4. Once Covid hit I got distracted but I'm going to get back into it. It's an AMAZING show, and there is an entire series of books (think like GoT) with a story already set up. I hope they don't go the way of GoT and fuck it up but at least they have a foundation to work off of. This is easily my favorite sci-fi show of all time.

All just Twitter accusations so far and no proof he did anything wrong but that shit is good enough to prove someone's guilt by the insane folks over at RetardEra. They're already calling for his character to be killed off or recast based solely on these tweets. Over there you're guilty until you can prove your innocence, even against false accusations.

Not saying he did or didn't do the things he's being accused of but I'm going to need more proof of these accusations than just tweets.

I watched the first season and half of the second season. Show was pretty good.

However, is there a show out with worse acting than The Expanse? It felt like half the actors had no business pursuing the acting profession.
