I don't usually talk politics online or IRL because I'm either not fully informed, not that passionate or have nothing to add.

But this latest development on the search for weapons and how it was just dropped. I mean I know people in the military and thought Iraq was unnecessary in the first place. But for a populace to be told they're going to war for a specific reason and two years later when it's shown to be a lie/unfounded and just dropped altogether? Shouldn't SOMEONE's nuts be in a vice? Why do people I talk to just shrug it off as "Eh Bush is just a fuckup"? Isn't this of all things something that should get people fucking pissed?

Really am I just overreacting/full of it? I don't get worked up about alot but when I read in the paper the search is off, no weapons were found, but we would have still gone to war, I couldn't comprehend it.

Of course something will happen -- when it's time to hold another election, the obvious manipulator will get voted out...oh, wait, never mind.

The most you can hope for, is that it'll have opened a few more eyes up to the travesty that is 21st century politics. However as 21st century politics is identical to all previous centuries politics the obvious conclusion to be drawn is that it isn't politics & politicians that suck, but the people whose apathy and ignorance continues to let politicians get away with this shit.

In other words, different day - same shit.

Oh, and welcome to the real world, it's like the day you found out santa wasn't real isn't it?

More like never believing in Santa but finding out the nice old man who plays him at the mall every year is cannibalistic pedo.

Bush isn't accountable, it's the people beneath him that are the ones to blame!
I also think this thread has been done before.

you're being sarcastic right? i can never tell since my sarcasm meter was broken during the elections.....

*phew* anyways, if anyone with half a brain would have noticed, the reasons for war have been changing quite a lot every time a new bump on the road has been encountered in iraq. first it was national/world threat, terrorist ties.
then it was to remove a dictator from power, then it was to liberate the people of iraq for democracy.
but i think the real thruth of it all is that these are convenient excuses made up to galvanize the peole at home to support this endeavor.
if you know anything about the neo-cons, you know all these guys (cheney, rumsfeld, wolfwoitz, richard perle et al) have had designs on iraq as far back as the late 1980's.
this mad utopian idea that they can shape the middle east to comform to american standards by using gunboat diplomacy is backfiring on them but they hardly seem to care. this is hardly the answer to terrorrism and guerilla warfare. shelling and bombing these people isnt gonna win them over to our side (not the majority anyway)
eh, i'm rambling and i'm tired. let's hope those guys in the 'raq get home soon.

You do know I was just saying what some conservatives in the other thread said.

yeah. that's why i said i was rambling. :)
but it's just so easy nowadays to manipulate people in this country. "moral values" this, "gay marriage" that...... simply.

I just want people to move on. All I hope is that other countires (namely Briatin, Italy and Oz) don't rely on US 'intelligence' in the future, maybe if the UK wasn't so willing maybe Iraq could of been averted.

Faith in our "good intentions" remains unimpaired by the historical record in Central America and the Caribbean, not to speak of Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East and elsewhere; and properly so, given the irrelevance of the historical and documentary record in a terrorist culture, which carefully avoids any institutional critique and can always appeal to the doctrine of "change of course" if nothing else avails.
