Give eastern NC style pulled pork bbq a try. I don’t mean sauce from a bottle. I mean fly your ass to the OBX and order the pulled pork with hush puppies, coleslaw, pickles from some dive restaurant then report back.

Mustard bbq sauce? Please tell me more!
Oh yes my man. A mustard/vinegar sauce thrown on pulled pork sandwiches. (The move when it comes to fatty sweet pork…. Not beef). Comes out of South Carolina. Below is a basic recipe but there are thousands of variations.

Just saying… the op clearly knows nothing about the multiple variations of delicious bbq… from different regions.

I am all over this recipe, or one similar next weekend. Thanks for sharing, I never knew how good the combo really sounded until I saw your post!

Oh yeah? Giving it a go? Well do some research and see which ones you prefer! This is just a very basic… give a sense of what it is.

You doing some smoked pulled pork?

Anyway, please let me know how it turns out!

I’ll probably do slow cooked pork shoulder…indecisive about the sauce right now, but I am definitely researching the next few days.

Slow cooker has been my go to with pulled pork in the past. Was never really great with grilling or smoking pork. Maybe one day, but for now I go with my know how!

Not sure how it would work with a slow cooker (instead of smoke, but I’m sure you can figure out whether it’s worth trying! I definitely wouldn’t cook the meat in there with it).
It’s disgusting and not bbq. Only for the heathens in SC
Lol. There is a time and a place for it. I’m a Texas bbq guy so it’s less about pork and that type of sauce…. But when done right it can be great.

Also, check out East Carolina vinegar sauce. It’s basically just vinegar and red pepper, but also great.

I'm sat here eating a pulled pork bbq sandwich and it's absolutely vile. All I taste is the sweetness from the BBQ sauce. What say you GAF?
Not all BBQ is the same. Where did you aquire this "sandwhich"....a gas station?

Should have gone to Colters.

Obviously. Moral of the story don't eat gas station bbq
Holyshit 😅..... did not see this LOL.
I fucking knew it.
Please give some high quality BBQ a chance... you wont regret it.

You British? No BBQ isn't a desert. It's not a dessert either. If you can't handle BBQ then I feel really sorry for you cause it's amazing.

Maybe they just slathered a ton of sauce on there and you had a bad experience.

Fuck off.

Our barbecues are often just the meat cooked as it is, perhaps with some Heinz tomato ketchup or HP brown sauce. Maybe English mustard. Dijion mustard if you're a posh nob.

Eaten in the rain.

Did this sandwich already have sauce on it when you bought it and if it did why did you buy it? That's just doing it wrong.

You fucks are actually hating on bbq sauce? One of the greatest food accessories on the planet.

Wtf

Yep, anytime I'm at a BBQ joint I'm trying all their sauces, usually with fries.

Spareribs going on the smoker.

Nice, I put a brisket on the smoker last night and let it go for 10 hours. It's now in the oven at 160f to rest until dinner.

Yeah, different sauce from different regions; Carolina, Memphis, Texas, and KC. KC is usually the sweeter sauce. Most places I've gotten pulled pork there isn't any sauce, you add the sauce you like. I also always get it with the slaw on it.

The biggest problem with American food is that we put too much sugar in everything. BBQ sauce is a major offender and I never use it on real bbq. The good shit is straight savory

Kansas City, Missouri took the spot. For what its worth Houston is ranked 5th and Austin is ranked...who cares? Dallas? No one cares either
Yeah, no one cares. Bbq has gone through a renaissance in the last decade (especially Texas), there is great bbq all over this country. No reason to pick one over the other, love them all!

But. As this thread has shown…. We all have opinions about bbq and argue we will!
