Is Casshern the movie good and worth watching?

It's an interesting movie, and Haruhiko Shono's touch is indelible, but it's a real headache and a head scratcher all-in-one. It's worth checking out, but it's pretty flawed.

It's average, tip toeing near the line of mediocrity. Don't be fooled by the trailer, Casshern is not an action filled film. The exact opposite is true, out of the 2 1/2 hours of movie is maybe 15-20 minutes of actual action and that figure may be a bit over bloated. I'd say it's worth a watch if you've nothing else to watch but I'd recommend keeping your expectations rather low.

its a beautiful piece of cinema

if you can appreciate it for that you will love it

if you are expecting a great story or action movie look elsewhere

i personally loved it

THis. The action sequence shown primarily in the trailer is the best part of the movie.

+It looks great: It's visually refreshing.
+Has a couple of cool action scenes.

-Stupid story
-Horrible Japanese cinema cliches abound
-It really drags and tries to be some sort of 'serious business' drama at times
-Not enough action
-All the negatives make the movie seem like it lasts forever... actually I think it's just a really long movie. This is a negative because it's 80% suck.

It's good if you like it for what it is. Plot can be a little stupid at times, but wth. Great music (except during the "great journey" or whatever it is that occurs in the middle. I had to turn the volume down) , art direction and decent acting.

I even cried when it turned out that
Tetsuya shot Burais wife
.

It's pretty much the movie version of a JRPG.

That is, the plot is inane, everybody is mopy, there's tons of grinding and the special effects look like they were made on PS2. On the other hand, the action cutscenes are over the top and everybody has great hair!

It's alright. Worth watching I think.

The movie kinda expects you to know the story of the manga or anime or whatever this was before it was a live action movie, because the plot makes no sense whatsoever. I didn't, but it doesn't get in the way of the visuals, which are quite striking in places.

Still never could figure out the ending though
with the beam of light going to the other planet. I assume that was their 'life force' going to seed a new world or something.

Fuck, that was embarrassing. Not even a good fight, let alone one of the best.

I own two copies of the movie :lol

it's not one of the best movies ever but it's worth watching.

Watch at least this part of the movie:

One of the BEST MOVIE FIGHTS EVER!!! Really! Watch it. Just this fucking scene!!! WATCH IT DAMN IT!

My God if that is the best the movie has to offer I'll avoid it like fucking cancer.
That was ridiculously cheesy, clichéd, and in no way entertaining. There was nothing in that scene that I haven't seen done better in a number of other films, and the part where they actually start 'fighting' :lol

heh, it's worth watching imo, for the visual style alone.

Most of the time plot and script make no fuckin sense at all and it will leave you scratching your head, also it drags around for 2+ hours trying to be serious business about a few 'important' themes, but it's just so cliched it ends up being pretentious and quite ridiculous. I have no idea how i managed to watch the entire movie the first time, but i was like "what the hell did i just watch ???"

Oh, but the visuals are stunning, and i'm not talking about the cg (which is quite mediocre).
Lighting and colours truly are something different, and a lot of scenes take place in front of painted backgrounds, so obviously painted that you can say it's the movie's own visual style, refreshing and very interesting to look at.
I would consider buying it in BD (if it exists) and use it as a rolling demo/screensaver on my 50" hdtv, but would never ever ever consider a second attempt at watching it.

I had problems staying awake while watching it and had to replay it to see the awesome action sequence.....which was basically that gif that you see everywhere :(

I don't turn movies off half way through very often, but this was one of them. So long, nonsensical and incredibly dull.

Some scenes look OK visually, but most of the CGI is shit, the story is ridiculous, the action was sparse and boring and it has some of the worst editing I've ever seen.

i just watched this earlier this week after having it on my must-see list for a while. Forget everything you saw in the trailer. Casshern's less about action and more about the futility of war. Looking at it like that, the visuals and the fights seem even more disjointed than they did while i was watching it.

Super fucking awesome production design/art style.

All the rest fucking sucks.

Seriously, clumsy execution of visual effects, bad acting, horrible pacing and the editing looks like it's done by a 12yr old who's used to just doing those anime mashups on youtube completely out of sync with their linkin park soundtracks.

It's such an epic fuckup since the basic premise is superb, it could have been the closest thing we ever got to a serious live-action FF7:The Movie.

No it's a bad movie that tries to be artsy and have a message but just fails for trying to cram tons of shit into 2 hours. Soundtrack is good though, but avoid like plague. Also, dodgy CG awaits.
