Is drought right now?

Can tell some of y'all are very young and never dealt with the actual game droughts. You know, before indies and eshops and backlogs, and we all just sat around playing the same Gamecube games over and over waiting 3-4 months in between notable releases.

Truly. The Gamecube drought days were insane, as much as I love the console there were many stretches between shorter games and only a handful of long JRPG type ones.

For real, even look at launch - launch window was great, up to December 2 2001 we got Pikmin, Smash Melee, and SSX Tricky all on the same day (legendary release day). There was the Sonic Adventure 2 port is Feb. 2002, but otherwise there wasn't another notable release until Resident Evil on April 30, 2002. That's almost 5 months! And not another first party game until Eternal Darkness in June. And I was 12 years old, my parents didn't even let me get those! Lol.

Shadowgate and don't use tips from the interwebs. Took me over a year as a kid to beat it. Drought over, you're welcome.

If that doesn't work I'll be in Tennessee in a couple days to white water raft the gorge off i26 and i40, come on down to funtown with me.

I am just thinking, I am writing about how much I like AI, and hentai, but that's cause it feels like there is nothing else to talk about...

It's summer, me taking a 2 weeks vacation, there are already DS2, and new Mario Kart World AAA titles, so there ARE some big things out, not to mention stuff that I haven't played which is a lot.

Yet I am already waiting for The Game Awards to come for new announcements to be made, to feel excited again.

Next month comes MGS3 Remake, so that's something I guess...

I don't know, it all just feels dry, and monotone, too lazy to give new stuff a try.

Maybe I will just read some manga.

I think AI art is pretty much souless, they basically steal real art and mix it up to make something the prompt ask for. It's crazy the difference in human made art and AI made art (at least for now)

Expedition 33 is winning GOTY2025 and everyone knows it, unless Donkey Kong and Metroid Prime 4 blows everything else out of the water

What's wrong buddy?

Really needed surgery because i have a terrible case o temporomandibular joint disorder that has been builting up for 8 years, which causes me a lot of pain everyday and makes the synovial fluid press my ear nerves, which could give me hearing loss at any moment, but health insurance really doesn't want to approve/pay it

Exp33 needs to win a ton.

Maybe you're just not that interested in playing games right now. I think it's normal. Go do something else, you'll come back around to gaming. Or maybe you'll just get really into hentai and we will lose you completely.

Drought?? Steam summer sale just ended, I have so much to play that I don't know where to start… And Donkey Kong comes out in 2 days! Still juggling several playthroughs on past games as well. And Gamepass is drowning me with games to play.

Nah this year has been absolutely crazy. Blue Prince to Clair Obscur to Mario Kart to The Alters and then DK is just around the corner (not to mention Death Stranding 2 if you're on PlayStation). Sprinkle in a few things from the backlog and that's a really fantastic first half of the year. I wish I had the time to get to everything. These days I would pray for a dud year to allow me to catch up on Yakuza and some other franchises I've been neglecting.

The only new game I bought this year are the Oblivion Remake and the System Shock 2 Remaster. Tell me about it OP...

Then, aside from a few smaller games, I only have MGS3 Remake and Silent Hill f to look forward to this year.

Needless to say the whole 2025 has been a bit of a draught for me.

I started Neverwinter Nights 2 last night, it's definitely rough around the edges but I'm early on.
The first Neverwinter Nights was such a colossal disappointment for me after the Infinity Engine games that I never bothered with the sequel back in the day.
Vanilla NWN2 campaign has a mixed reputation, but I've always heard the Mask expansion is top rpg content from Avellone so I'm looking forward to that part at least.

For NWN:EE, have you tried the custom campaigns instead of the vanilla modules? They are way better.

I played it at launch, so none of the toolset stuff was available. It was such a massive downgrade from Baldur's Gate and ToEE that I was literally gobsmacked at how bad it was.
I have no doubt that some truly quality community content and modules got created over the years, but alas, I only currently have access to the console versions where that stuff isn't available.

There are more games than ever that are worth playing, but there are hardly games to be truly excited about.

My most anticipated game right now is that 3D Meat Boy game and that probably only because it triggered nostalgia for the first Super Meat Boy. I kinda also would like to see that Quantic Dream Star Wars game. And even though I am not even a big fan of it all, HL3 would be something. Everything else is just; don't really care if it comes out or gets canceled.
We are stuck in the PS3 era and only got actual FHD with PS4 and fauxK and faster loading with PS5. Everything else feels barely different. VR went nowhere. Sony abandoned it, and Meta alone won't elevate the small third parties offers much either.
...stuck in evolutionary steps and no one tries AAA with revolutionary ideas. Just too pricey these days.
