Only up to post 150 or so, they're stacking.

Dennis got banned? lol

He perhaps worded his initial point badly, but cases such as these just reek of the general criticism brought up in the last few pages namely 'piling up and twisting words' and inconsistency

Usually holding a personal vendetta against a single poster and making that known in such a childish way is a good way to get banned.

(lol)

You want to give people a better quality version of a gif that's gotten them banned?

Nice. Very thoughtful of you. :P

It's not the .gif that they were banned for, it was for the way they used it i.e. effectively condoning the behaviour with no qualifier, no real element of discussion.

Oh, I know. I just thought it was humorous.

(Though it is very rare that I see that GIF used for anything other than shitposting.)

It sure would be nice if gaf could have a rap sheet directed to the infringing post.

It would make it easier for us to not make the same mistakes if we just knew what it was :\

Plenty of people have fought with Devo and survived. She's not a living embodiment of your doom. I promise.

Your surprising me. Hell I even agree with her 75% of the time. Anyways this thread isn't and shouldn't be about her. I'll stop now. I'm glad I didn't post in that thread.

Edit: Oh I though Chung Li was a normal member. Nvm

My first post seems to be OK, seeing that I'm not gone yet, it's that second one that's worrying me now, specifically since I didn't quote ho I as responding to so it's easier to take it out of context. Lol, tbh this is quite a weird feeling - I wonder if death row people feel like this.

Always quote and tread lightly while a junior.

Squiddy, I feel like I am having deja vu with you thinking Wario64 was banned when he wasn't.

I've definitely seen bans instigated here before. Someone gets out of line... Not with the rules, but with political correctness or popular opinion, then trolling accusations and enjoy your ban type posts ensue and are often granted.

But anyway, that discussion is for another time... Here comes the pain soon.

*shrugs*

We can have it now!

Bans are not instigated. I think the simplest way to put it is: Correlation does not imply causation.

If someone posts something dumb, and several posters say that they'll enjoy that person being banned, it might increase the likelihood of a moderator catching the post, but it is unrelated to the decision itself. We do not ban on popular vote, because someone said something unpopular, because of ban cheering, or by personal request (e.g. If someone PMs me or sends me a message on IRC or AIM). If you've been misunderstood, just clarify. As other posters have said - and I can attest to in my own experience - legitimate misunderstandings happen and it is easy to get people off your case by admitting an error or clarifying a misunderstanding or simply apologizing for the offense and dropping it. It's not difficult, really. And while it's not a guarantee, I can say that I have been ready to ban someone when they did one of those things and changed my mind because of it. There's a lot to be said for ending something graciously.
