Honestly, I rather just quit modern gaming than to be forced to buy $80 to $100 digital only games where greedy corporations control the pricing for games that rarely go on sale even years later. The people who are embracing and celebrating an all-digital only generation has absolutely no idea what they are wishing for in the future.

In a word, no. The path to digital only on consoles is being forced. Didn't the Insomniac leak basically show sales for most of Sonys big first party titles was closer to 50/50 then the numbers we usually see that claim digital is 97% of all sales? Those 97% numbers always include microtransactions and stuff like battle passes. When you strip that stuff away it's much closer between digital and physical than the digital only folks claim it is. Digital is still winning, I don't deny that, but the framing of digital vs. Physical sales shows its being forced on us at a higher degree than the market dictates.

Yes. Collector's value.

There are many valuable items that can be sold despite not functioning anymore.

You do this with every game you will ever buy.

You will play it once. Or twice. Or thrice. Or maybe even 100 times. But eventually, you won't be playing it anymore. It has no value after that. Sell it. Or give it away.

Also you are still badly underestimating how valuable some of these physical games for People.
thank you so much for your suggestion

Actually, I think that buying physical has never been that important. Get a Switch, buy physical games with the games actually on the cart, have a nice shelf with all your games and collector editions, put the cart in the console and play instantly, no stupid install, no stupid download etc...

This is precisely the kind of experience a video-game console should provide. I am going to stick with it till the end, and nothing has changed for now.

I'm glad so many people are saying no. I don't trust digital gaming platforms. Although they have their advantages, there are plenty of cons as well, and gamers should have the option to own physical copies of their games.

I'm the type of person that believes we should support physical media as much as possible, especially in regards to where it actually matters such as putting a 4K film on a ultra HD blu-ray disc.

Games don't have this same problem but a different one. Now that I have a crazy PC that can crush pretty much every game with 4K, 60fps, ultra graphics settings and now that every PC game is digital I don't really have a reason to buy a game on my PS5 Pro that I'd rather see at even higher graphics settings on my PC.

And it doesn't help that Sony and Playstation ae blowing it with exclusive game releases. Physical games are probably going to die sooner than we think. Which pisses me off.
