I probably haven't heard enough, but their vocals really do nothing for me. I love most classic rock - my three favourite bands are The Beatles, Led and The Beach Boys.

Sweet three. Pet Sounds rules SO hard. Have you heard it in Surround? Kinda worth the trouble.

Pink Floyd and the Beach Boys are both incredible in their own, very different ways.

Whoever started this thread, you may just be listening to the wrong stuff. As a huge Pink Floyd fan, WYWH doesn't even make my top five favorite albums. Shine On and the title track are some of the best they've done, but the rest of the album is pretty generic and bad. Welcome to the Machine, while a fan favorite, I believe, is just near terrible. Have a Cigar isn't that great either.

If you don't like DSOTM, then I guess you're lost, but you really should try as it is one of the top rock albums of all time. Also, as others have suggested, try Meddle. Echoes (the song) is essential Floyd.



BTW- does anybody know if the Live 8 concert is going to be broadcasted? Details?

Just like it's still cool to buy Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, but if you buy any of the other reissues, you...shouldn't mention it in public.

Depends if you also don't love David Bowie and the Velvet Underground. If so, no, it's not ok.

I love Velvet, and what I've heard of Bowie (haven't looked that much into it yet).

And yeah, well, Meddle is cool, and I love Dark Side, but some of the songs still drag for too long, and Waters voice sucks.

I think it's great for its purpose. Kind of mad-scientist-y. At least Gilmour sings most of the of songs; his voice is great all around.

Depends where you are?

It will be on the BBC in UK, CHCH/CTV in canada, ABC in the US (I think).
