Is it too early to do something like this for a girl?

Okay, so last week I started talking to this girl that works at a Music World. Found out we have a lot of tastes in common and such. This past Wednesday I came in there, brought her a burned copy of The Arcade Fire album (she really wanted to hear it and couldn't find it), then said that if I gave her 10 minutes she'd be on break. So I waited and we went for some coffee for 15 minutes or so, at the end of which we exchanged numbers and emails. So far, so good. We've exchanged a couple of emails already and this girl seems pretty cool so far. We're probably going to go out sometime during this week. Anyways...

She REALLY wants to see this one band live. (Do Make Say Think) I'm a fan of them too and would love to see them, AND they're playing in Toronto on October 26th. Would it be too early on in the whole dating thing to surprise her with a pair of tickets to the show? I seriously suck at dating and never really know whether I'm moving too fast or too slow. Haha. I was thinking of surprising her in like...2 weeks or so, based on how the first date or two goes. I've got a pretty good feeling that this is actually going somewhere though, so the tickets are a pretty safe bet. Anyways, thoughts?

question : would you rather be known as someone who can take the hint or someone who is dense? :p

Okay, fuck you guys. :p Haha. But yeah, I'll probably get them since I don't think they're overly expensive anyways.

I wouldn't "surprise" her with it, just call her a couple of days before the concert and casually mention that you have an extra ticket, and you want to go with somebody that likes them as much as you do

That's remarkably transparent though, better to be straight-up from the get-go in my opinion & experience, is all your experience with dumb women perchance cubsfan? ;)

I say go for it.

Yeah, I'm thinking the surprise method would work better here, especially since she said that she could "probably die happy" if she ever saw the band live. So I'll just ask her what she's doing on Tuesday, October 26th, and then ask her what she'd say if I told her that she could see Do Make Say Think. Woot. Master pimp at work?

Good God man, she's practically begging you to take her. By the fucking tickets and ask her before she makes other plans.

Asking her to see a concert is nothing out of line or weird! Go for it dude! You'll be happy you did!!!

First tragedy, then farce.
I wouldnt spring it on her like a gift or surprise. I would just call her up and ask "Hey, do you want to go to the concert with me". It might be a little straitforward, but that generally is what works best. She either likes you (sounds like she does) or doesnt.. she is going to say yes or no depending on how she feels, not based on how you ask her.

Too many guys worry about how they come off when they ask a girl out, and it really doesnt matter. She likes you or she doesnt, you arent going to trick her into going out with you by being really sly.

Edit: Also, ask her out tonight or tommorow. October 26th is way too far in the future.. you should probably go for it now, lest she give up on waiting for you. Ask her if she wants to go to the concert on the second or third date would be my advice... that way you'll know if you like her or not.

I agree with StoOgE's advice. Ask her if she'd like to go to the concert (so she can keep that night free AND be excited that you're willing to take her), and then ask her out sometime in the near future for something else. Concerts are GREAT dates, but it's fairly hard to talk and get to know each other while music is blaring.

On the other hand, if you've already spent some time together and you go to a concert...good things often happen afterwards. :)

Good luck! She sounds like a find.

Wicked. She just called me about half an hour ago and it sounds like we're already going to a show/concert together next Saturday. (The Arcade Fire) She was worried about getting tix since she's a whole city over from me and the concert's where I live, so I said I'd be out and about around town today anyways and that I'd pick up advance tix if possible and could grab one for her too. So yeah, it's all good.

As for the other concert, I don't think tickets are even on sale for it yet, but I'll snatch up a pair as soon as they're available.

Here is how the conversation should go

You: Hey, hows it going?
Her: It's good, how are you?
You: Oh, I'm fine. What are you doing on (insert date/day here)
Her: Hmm.. Not really sure, Why, whats up ?
You: Nothing much really, I've only got these two tickets to (insert band name here)!
Her: *Gets on her knees and unzips your fly*
You: GiggidygiggidyGIG-AH-DEE!

:lol

That had me rolling...

Do it dude. Buy the tix...then send them to her in an envelope with her name written in blood. If no blood available, well, don't even bother...

:lol

Ok, I don't know why I'm so hyper...could be the bag of twix my friend bought earlier that we finished off during the Texans game.
