I beleive that Mitnick wasn't allowed to use computers or phones while he was in jail.

Mitnick wasn't allowed to use any computer period until a few years ago. He was out of jail at the time (maybe on parole, I'm not sure).

My cousin's ex-boyfriend was talking to a 'girl" in a chatroom and it ended up being a cop and they busted his ass. The cop was posing as a 14 year old girl. His lawyer advised him to fight it while others that were brough down by the same cops that month got 6 months probation. Chris fought it for 3 years and got 6 months in county lock up and isn't allowed to be on the internet for the next 5-10 years. Not even cell phones with internet access. He's also not allowed to have any computer jobs whih sucks cause that's what he did for a living. Plus he's got a federal offense now.

I know that's not a hacker thing, but I'd imagine any crime that you use a computer with, part of that punishment will be that you can't use a computer for X amount of years.
