Is It True the Kerry Daughters Got Booed at the VMA's?

MTV, ROLLING STONE and the rock and roll establishment -- past and present -- have cast their vote, and their man is John Kerry.

So on Sunday night when John Kerry's daughters were announced to speak at the annual MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, the MTV youth were expected to welcome his daughter's as pop culture princesses.

Instead, in an era of the unexpected, the daughters of the Democratic candidate were met with a resounding wall of boos at the filming in Miami.

From the moment Alexandra and Vanessa started speaking, the boos outweighed anything close to cheers, and the reaction turned worse when the daughters asked the VIACOM youth to vote for their father. So shocked by the reaction, the taller of the two daughters tried to 'shhhhhh' her peers to no avail.

I just read this, is it true?

both kerry's and bush's daughters were booed. they got louder when either of the sisters told the audience to vote for their respective fathers.

And Rock the Vote was officially declared a failure.
(And if it hasn't, it really should be)

ferrets ferrets ferrets ferrets FERRETS!!!
I am surprised that Mr. Drudge is so obviously giving one side of the story when there were a lot of, you know, witnesses to debunk him.

But, either way, both daughters did the wrong thing, definitely.

Yeah, thats why I thought it was only the Kerry sisters. I wouldn't boo Barbra Bush though, she is HOT, and her cousin who is the CK model.

Haha I was wondering what retarded media source this came from; what a pleasant non-surprise.

I do have to say it's too bad that booing wasn't one-sided, it would have been a great pulse on the Stupid People vote.

Malleymal

You now belong to FMT.
why were they there in the first place..... the 4 of them in bed now... that would get me out to vote....

To be fair to Drudge, he did play the whole clip (the Kerry's and the Bush's) on his radio show, and even mentioned that the only reason it sounded like the Bush girls got fewer boos was that since they were on tape, it was mixed differently. He then went on to say that it's not uncommon for political figures to get booes and things like sporting events. From the clip he played, it seemed pretty clear that both pairs of girls got their fair share of boos.

Okay, it's good to know that he's just deliberately misleading people on this one, actually knowing the truth, since his website headline reads:

"THE BOOS THAT ROCKED THE VOTE: KERRY DAUGHTERS RECEIVE RUDE AWAKENING AT MTV AWARDS..."

He's always such a class, fair journalist.

I would have loved to see the "liberal celeb elite" spin he would have put on it had the Bushes been the only ones booed, too bad.

That's one of the most sensationalist headlines for a non-event I have ever seen.

Drudge is widely misunderstood...Though he seems to be a bit too chummy with the Town Hall crowd (Ann Coulter especially...*shiver*), what he usually likes is chaos, irony, generally crazy stuff, in many case regardless of who it's against. The angle he may have been going with is that a crowd like that would have been expected to boo the Bush girls (or anything even slightly connected to Bush), but for them to boo the Kerry girls is something else.

Also, it's possible that Drudge may not have even posted that. I've seen interviews with him (on C-SPAN, for example) where someone asks "if you're here, who's running the site?", to which he explains he has someone else that also posts stories when he's busy. Considering he was doing a radio show at the time, there's a good chance he wasn't the one who posted that summary.

No, I was just being a smartass - they didn't declare it officially dead.

But the voter turnout for the MTV demographic (18-24) has been in decline ever since they started RtV - except for 1992 where the voter turnout for all age groups increased.

It probably has little to do with it, as voter turnout is down across the board. But whatever MTV is trying to do, it isn't working.

First tragedy, then farce.

Wow, everyone marvel at the TWO levels of spin.

No one wanted preachy politics interrupting their party, but it got bad for Kerry's daughter when one of them tried to quiet the boos and saying this was important. Then the boos really started.

From someone who was at the show (At the Hiphop forums I post at) the Bush girls were booed MUCH louder. MTV expected that both will be booed so they shut off crowd microphones. Kerry girls were actually there and their microphone was able to pick up the crowd boos. However, the Bush girls were on a videotaped recording, and therefore you could only hear the Bush girls speak when their message played. The Bush girls were Booed the most. They recieved little else.

LOL

I don't think so. I think you and your boys were booing so loud that you thought that it was louder overall.

LOL

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated
Next, that damn John Kerry's going to be lying about how little his daughters got booed at the VMAs and how they all won VMA Honorable Mention awards for the decibel-ratings of their cheers. Honestly, does any of this matter? I wonder what percentage of VMA-attendees even vote...

As soon as Carson Daly mentioned the Bush twins, the boos ensued.

But, the audience DID boo both sets of daughters.

It's so much fun to watch Republicans jump from "celebrities and the entertainment industry should shut up, what do they know?" to treating VMA audience reaction as some kind of news story and even going through the effort to distort it so that it somehow favors their party. And lest we forget the fine cast of the RNC, including:

Perenially Overrated CB and Now Complete Failure Jason Sehorn, Formerly of the New York Giants!

Survivor Also-Ran Elisabeth Hasselbeck!

crispin_02.jpg

...and a veritable Brain Trust of Wonderful Celebrities!

I swear if I hear as much of a fucking peep about how "celebs need to shut up" from Republicans who aren't bitching about this right now; well, I won't be surprised considering the completely corrupt and dishonest state of political discourse in this country right now.

The faster MTV gets out of politics, the better. They're still stuck in the melodrama of the 1990s.

"Drugs are bad!"

"Cutting down a single is a sin!"

"Love gays now!"

"Teenagers understand the world; adults don't!"

"Vote for whoever you want! Don't let anybody influence your decision! <insert footage of decidedly Green Party ideals>"

She's hot. Republicans have won.

I think you posted the wrong picture, dude. Clearly, you wanted to post Gay Icon and Frequently Shirtless Shitty CB Jason Sehorn.

They can still complain because the majority of them announced so far seem more like B Movie people than actual "celebrities". The latest ones I saw are Kerri Strug and that Baldwin brother from Bio Dome.

I think I'm pretty clear on which celebs the Republicans think should have the right to speak- those that are mouthpieces for the ideas, it just so happens most of them are of B or C-rate talent in their actual fields.
