Is Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza a dud?

There was a lot of hype for a pirate Yakuza game, people loved the reveal.

But I never see anyone mention it or talk about it. Its like it never released.

Was this a pointless game made to cash in on the recent Like a Dragon popularity, or is it worth going for?

It's a side game, like the Man Who Erased His Name, these games tend to try weirder things and the stories arn't as strong. It did feel like it would've done better launching for a cheaper price though.

Seems like it was about what fans of the series wanted and expected. It's certainly not Yakuza 9 to convert more people, more like a nostalgic spin-off for the existing fans. Personally, I liked the demo and I'm just waiting for a nice sale.

I thought it was really fun. While I like turn based rpgs, when it comes to the yakuza series, I prefer real time combat.

As a PC gamer I'm just a bit Yazuka Like a Dragon'd out. They were porting old and releasing new games in fairly quick succession that I just can keep up and gotta skip releases.

They've been doing these side games since the PS3 era. They're not the main games and more like a stand alone DLC which is why they're priced accordingly. It's a weaker DLC though and ends when it really needs to.

Yakuza Pirates was a lot of fun. I still have yet to finish it, but I did end up burning myself out admittedly by replaying the entire series leading up to the release and then spending 60 or so hours doing every single possible quest and side activity in chapter 2 before moving forward.
