Is Lost really all that and a bag of chips?

I'm finally getting around to watching this show (I'm not watching it on TV so I don't have to wait a week for each episode).

This is a really interesting show, but I must say that for the most part, it's pretty lifeless. It's like a reality-based show where "events" just happen: people are stranded on a deserted island and shit just happens to them, and they do stuff. Not exactly what I would consider riveting television. Although, I really like the flashbacks because they at least add depth to the characters and by this the show doesn't give in to what would otherwise be extreme boredom and lack of originality. How they add multiple perspectives to the characters is pretty nice.

It seems like the show is just gradually (and painfully slowly) building up to a huge pay-off...but from what I already know, it doesn't exactly "deliver."

Still, it's a pretty decent show, but FAR from what I would consider "must-see TV."

I fail to see how this is funny, because it implies that I have no taste in television...which would mean that "Lost" sucks, seeing as how I am enjoying it.

And those reality shows are totally different forms of entertainment, which makes that entire argument frivolous. Might as well mock me for having seen "Jerry Springer" or "Jackass."

Maybe just shut up. :p Seems like you were so distressed over people preferring Lost over 24 that you were initially resistant. Nice that you now see the light.

I was NEVER resistant to "Lost." I never even heard of the show until MADtv did a parody of it, and I had no idea people were so interested in it until all of the threads started popping up here. I'm always open to new things

I just don't want to enjoy it more than "24."

^^ I was clearly joking....hence the ":p"

Whoops, you're not making any sense. Try again. Wait, dont

I'm supposed to think you aren't playing dumb, right? I'd play along, but...I won't.

Holy shit I'm convinced!

Well you'd have to be, seeing as there's no way to prove your theory of my alleged "resistance."

[Daniel] Boone. [Tom] Sawyer.

Is there a connection?

Wow - I never really noticed that coincidence. Now I'm wondering if there is a connection. If there is, it isn't obvious to me.

k, let me walk you through it

"I fail to see how this is funny, because it implies that I have no taste in television...which would mean that "Lost" sucks, seeing as how I am enjoying it."

Right, it implies that you have poor taste in television, at least as far as we're concerned. But even someone who may eat dog shit for breakfast may enjoy a juicy steak at dinner.

Nor does this make any sense. I can just not know either way. Based on the way you've discussed Lost and such, I can suspect that you were resistant. But whatever.

That's my point exactly....which is why I don't see the humor at his take on my television record. The point/joke is severely flawed...especially since he had an entire list to work with and pick and chose what and whatnot to highlight.

If upon my first time HEARING about the show, I say that I'm going to check it out--which I immediately DID--(despite my love for "24"), how can you even SUSPECT that I was being resistant?

But this argument is pointless and I say we just let it go. :)

When I heard Sawyer's name, I thought whoever called his name was simply just being sarcastic. But when I heard "Boone," I was like, "WTF? Then where's Magellan?" :lol

I'm only on episode 13 (so it might already be outright revealed), but Boone has seen Sawyer before the crash. He saw him at the police station reporting the incident about his sister.

It was just a slam on you. Y'know, the guy that considers Lost "FAR from must-see TV" has such and such weak shows that he regularly watches.

Anyway, I just think the way you framed your impressions hinted at someone who may have actually preferred not enjoying it, whether from spite or whatever, but then gradually found himself liking it despite. But those are just my flimsy suspicions, largely inspired by my not liking your comments. :)
