Is Mainstream Hatred Of Anime Growing?

This is true for almost every form of media. AnimeGAF usually has some decent recommendations. There has actually been some fun shows to grace us as of late. Hyouka is great too.

Yeah, it's true.

Hmm, Hyouka doesn't look like my kinda thing.

I would have liked Hyouka somewhat if the two girls are not so bloody annoying. Specially the main girl. She's like written with the explicit and emphasized direction of personifying what a 'cute girl' is supposed to be like. An embodiment of the softest and girliest cutesy girl ever.

>___>

I like cute girls in real. But that girl just annoys me to no end. I felt as if her cutesy personality was super made-up and it was shoved so rigorously onto my face at every opportunity she's on screen.

The mysteries themselves are low key, which I enjoy. Cuz I like low-key anime, like Mushishi, but Hyouka was just bleargh.

His points are not valid.

That shit accidental as hell.

Do you really want to defend this people? It's not like their doing themselves any favors. People can talk about fishing, sports, riding bikes or a near-infinite amount of programming on television at work. You won't catch people talking about anime in a corporate environment. It's as common as hearing a pilot talk about smoking crack during their license exam... it just doesn't happen because deep down we all recognize and understand degenerate behavior. I'm not going to say animation is evil or makes people do evil things but like anything pure can be corrupted, you and I and any sensible wholesome person can agree that anime today ain't like our dad's anime right? I mean really...

School Days is terrible though!

i just hate when they insert typical anime fuckery into series, it just messes with the vibe of the show.

biggest offenders for me because i love the shows so much are ed from cowboy bebop and nia from gurren lagann.

nia especially is a shit

I don't know if it's really hatred but the last couple of years with the MLP fad\craze probably didn't help anime fans case.

You may as well condemn all of animation both east and west in that case, don't bother going to see the next animated Disney film in theaters unless, you know, you wanna be seen as a pedophile.

My man, Ed was absolutely terrible and impacted my experience with Bebop for the worse.

Anime is garbage but theres nothing wrong with Ed.

Oh yeah I remember Hyouka winning anime of the year.

Dedided to try it out..........one of the most boring things I've ever watched.

will never trust anime of the year threads again.

That's a shame because last year's Anime Series of the Year was Space Battleship Yamato 2199 and the Anime Film of the Year was Wolf Children. Both were legitimate masterpieces and worth anyone's time. They're both incredibly accessible, entertaining, and well made.

Just letting AnimeGAF know what to get me for Christmas. Thank you. #ChristmasGAF

You gonna do GAF Secret Santa this year?

That's what you get for listening to shitty podcasts.

I agree.

So many games are anime inspired... Not even talking about the Japanese ones... People specially gamers nowadays seem to NEED something to hate on. If it isn't EA or Call of Duty, its anime and fans of anime... Oh and Sonic.

I thought I was the only one :p

Never liked Ed. Like, at ALL. We might be in the minority though :(

Haha, that doesn't really seem like something I'll watch. I liked Mushishi a lot! The supernatural nature + mystery elements really drew me in.

What is your kinda thing?

I guess seinen, shounen, or josei with a rounded cast of characters and a non-mundane hook. Typical cutesy-looking art styles aren't my thing, but I'll overlook it if everything else is interesting.

I actually prefer to read manga, but I haven't done that in a long while either. @_@

I went to the Anime festival here last year and it was not only packed with people, it sremed like there was more cute nerd girls than neckbeards.

You should try From the New World.

If you are open to josei you might want to check out Kimi Ni Todoke unless you have already seen it.

I adore From the New World. Brilliant show.

Quick question about the manga series, what the fuck is up with it? Those erotic as hell covers, and those random bits of nudity within the manga adaption. Is the manga more aligned with the original novel?

No, it's just a trashy cash-in.

Oh I've long known about and watched Yamato before I heard people talk about it here.

I love space opera stuff.

The manga is like a H dojinshi based on the book really...

I like to recommend Noein to anyone asking which anime to watch. It's a wicked ride of time traveling futuristic knights. One of my favorite anime series.

Yes... YESS!! Finally some people with the same oppinion. When I visited the anime community thread, people always said that I was crazy for not liking Chitanda.

What a fucking annoying girl, ugh!

The anime is very, VERY beautiful, I can give you that. But that's about it, the most boring slow-paced show I've seen.

My biggest pet peeve is when someone who doesn't actively watch it complains about a lack of variety. There's probably 100 or so new programs created every year in Japan animation, even the hardcore fans don't watch most of it and yet you have people claiming to be experts on the entire medium based on very limited exposure.

The other big one is when someone says the animation is bad and then choose to compare a TV series developed by a small studio like Deen and compare it to a feature length theatrical Disney release. I'm not even exaggerating here, I've seen it too many times to count.

Sometime you just need to try show out. I mean, princess tutu is something that I should hate but Is easily one of my favorite shows.
