Will those stubborn bastards finally release a mouse/KB? I know they were trying to seperate themselves from the pc this gen, but everything they do and continue to do is making the xbox brand more like a PC. I don't see what's stopping them.

well, with FFXI, you pretty much need a keyboard.

I don't know about that, good luck finding any party without being able to type. Also, without keyboard shortcuts, you're somewhat screwed as well.

They've come right out and said it will not be used for FPS control so don't get all joyous yet.

Finding a party is talking, no? I'm not sure what we're disagreeing on.
In the 6 months I played FFXI, I only used the keyboard for chat and making macros. My PS2 controller hooked to my PC did the rest.

As long as the host can lock out any controller they want, I've got no beef with mouse FPS control on consoles. I don't see it happening yet, though.

Oh yeah, that'd be great. There would be "KEYBOARD HAX" to bypass that and I'll be playing Halo 2.314 and people will be yelling "OMG HE'Z KEYBOARD HAX BANBANBANFAG"

If there's hacking that works on Live on 360, we'll have a LOT more cheating issues to worry about than 'keyboard hax'.

Mouse play and controller play don't work well together. The controller folks will get pwned heavily and ultimately it will drive players away from online. Allowing (not requiring) hosts to start 'mouse only' and 'controller only' games is a very good solution that creates a more level playing field.

There doesn't have to be, though. The more options there are, the more idiots will bitch about things. Even if there are "locks" people will say "NOO YOU ARE TEH HAX". I'd like to keep the bitching I hear in a small realm of the stupid.
Either way, if MS is really sticking to the No-keyboard-controls thing, GOOD. They need to make more hard decisions and stick to them.

Yeah. Idiots on the other team accuse you of cheating whenever the blue connection screen is coming up on Halo 2. We'd just be accused for using a mouse if we aim to fast or something.
