Anyone got the feeling that MS is going to drop the next XBOX next year?

To answer the thread question, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new Xbox next year in one form or another. Especially with GTA VI coming out. It wouldn't be a bad idea to take advantage of that timing.

GTA VI was a 2025 game until it got delayed.
The idea that they'd suddenly decided to fast track a release they'd already fully scoped out just because of one game is hilarious.

Microsoft paid bots are so funny. Why would PC gamers pay 1200 $ for this thing? Remember you can't even make local accounts on a Xbox, you have to make a Microsoft account. It is not full Windows 11, can't be used like a PC. Only people buying it are diehard Microsoft fanatics.

I love how warriors have fixated around this made up $1200 price.

Even at $1200, it would be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than similar prebuilt SFF PCs.

Why would anyone be really dismayed if they can't run Photoshop on their TV console? 🤣

It's just a PC, so it doesn't excite anyone.

Tbh, having an all in one box is significantly more exciting for most people than a regular console, if affordability isn't a challenge. Especially when Xbox can't really appeal as a traditional console again after going third party.

I think very early on it kind of was their target

But yeah huge ball drop there, I do feel a 5080ish power level console launching near GTA 6 MAY have moved the needle some

How would it have been their target when GTA 6 was a 2025 game until 6 months ago?
And with a PC version delayed, who would be buying an unsubsidized, expensive console just to play essentially the Xbox Series version of the game?

So it is a console. Go back to the original comment I replied. Why would PC gamers buy this when they can build their own PC? Why would console gamers pay 1200$?

Simplified, console experience.

If you want flexibility, stay on pc.

I think a entry level laptop + magnus will make for a good combo for pc gaming. Covering all bases.

It does seem that they are on the ball with locking this thing down but I think 2026 could be a stretch. I'm sure they would love to but who knows.

2027 seems like the play.

I actually would have been one of those, but I have a PC now. I think the next 12 months are going to see MS trying to get all their entitlements to be Play Anywhere compatible.

If you pay attention to all the little steps like the PC App allowing cross platform parties, Play Anywhere, Cross platform saves then their strategy is becoming clear.

$1200 is a steep price no doubt, but the power of an OEM PC with dedicated silicone, quiet and without the hassle of PC crashes or CTD will be appealing for some (particularly those who have parts of the ecosystem that arent ready yet to move from).

It's a wide, diverse ecosystem they are moving towards, and I think if everyone were to take a step back they would see these is something there for them. And if not, then Sony have the more traditional console experience.

At some point they have to switch over and this is the start. Play Anywhere abd Cross Saves are the the most important thing to resolve and align over the next 12 months imo

Price.

So, you are saying pre-built PCs are DOA, "in this economy"?

It just appears that they are further along with their plan than what we were initially told. I maybe wrong but there is too much information out for this thing to be 2 years out. Per reports, the hardware has already been finalized.
Its all about how mature is 3nm tsmc manufacturing node, we had leaks nvidia 60xx series of cards gonna use it, and those cards are sheduled for early 2027 launch.
All indications are that the 60 series will not arrive until 2026, at the earliest. NVIDIA's own roadmap shows Rubin as the 2026 architecture for data centers, with a follow-up "Feynman" in 2028. For gaming GPUs, this implies Rubin might debut around 2026–2027.

Some interpretations of Jensen Huang's comments suggest Rubin-based RTX 60 series cards will likely appear in early 2027, since Blackwell (50 series) just launched in 2025. Given that shift, a 60-series gaming launch around 2027 makes sense, following NVIDIA's roughly two-year cycle per generation.

We gotta remember 3nm node is in crazy high demand, all top players in the industry compete for it: apple, samsung, AI workstations from nvidia and amd, and when more mainstream(cheaper) node is avaiable we can be sure priority will go to nvidia and amd consumer gpus before new xbox/ps6 simply coz those will be able to pay higher premium(topend pc cards cost premium vs consoles).

Pre built PCs generally don't use APUs, so they are upgradeable, having a longer life and giving more value to the initial investment.
Yes but maybe the "Xbox packaging" will be regarded as just as valuable. We don't know that and it will vary depending on the user.

With the Xbox brand at its lowest now, I can't imagine how much value it will have in 2 years when this thing releases. They will be lucky if people even remember them.

All consoles are PC at this point.

$1200 cause its using expensive parts.

I know giving up on flexibility is a tough pill to swallow, which is why an entry level laptop is a good combo with it.
Actually consoles like Playstation and Switch have proper physical releases. Sony and Nintendo first party games playable without any kind of day one patch, Sony even added 100 GB BD100 option for PS5. Xbox first party usually don't have the full game on disc. Adding to that Xbox since 2013 has removed offline accounts, you essentially need a Microsoft account to play on your Xbox. So Xbox is a DRM. Many single player games (particularly Japanese ones) don't have Xbox physical releases. Xbox only supports 50 GB BD50 blu rays which can't fit a full game in most cases. So Playstation and Switch are definitely not like a PC.

Now coming back to PC, PC gamers will never buy a locked down system like Magnus.
