Lord Panda
The Sea is Always Right
Heartwarming to see all the Ultima love here.
It’s no secret that I absolutely adore Ultima VII Parts 1 and 2. I used to replay them every year and I would always discover new shit with each play-through.
That said, I also loved Pagan—despite it being such a massive departure from what we expected from Ultima, with its cut content and some questionable gameplay design choices. Even so, it had an undeniable atmosphere. The graphics, the music, and the overwhelming sense of oppression and danger still leave a lasting impression on me to this day. And the fact that they made it in just a year is still a damn great feat.
While I’d love to see the entire Ultima saga revisited, I especially would love to see a remake of Pagan and Ascension—to finally give the Guardian Trilogy a proper send off.
