Is Sideways a decent date movie?

... Taking a girl out to the cinema and we've both heard good things about it, but I kind of wanted to know what I'm getting myself into.

I really, really don't want to see that movie with the Will & Grace chick.

Ugh, no. She may like it, and there are good parts, but I recommend instead renting The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra and making out aftwerwards. It leaves you with good vibes and ultra-fresh breath!

Depends if this chick enjoys these talkie type movies. It's definetly not one of these 'feel good' movies of the year. But the acting was pretty decent and there were funny moments.

Your lady might find that womanizer guy in the movie (I forget his name now, he was in Wings) really offensive and might think the same about you. ie. doing anything to get laid. :lol

I saw it with an ex and we both had a great time and loved it, for what's worth. I didn't get laid though.

There's a scene of horror
middle-aged full frontal
that'll force her into your arms. And it's a good movie too.

Recommended.

I wouldn't recommend it as a date movie cause it's a bit on a sad side. I recommend Before Sunrise if it's available in your area.

If you want a RECENT date movie, that is to say more recent than Sideways, go see Finding Neverland. Far better date movie, but it's an equally good film. Or, rent Wimbledon. Chicks dig it.

She's pretty intellectual, as she wants to go see it as well, but I'm afraid of us both walking out of the theatre all depressed and shit.

The film actually leaves you with more hope than most people here would lead you to believe. One of the best films of the year. Go see it.

Sideways sucks unless you're 60 years old.
As much as About Schmidt was? Because that was a great movie as well, and it was ABOUT old people.

I don't know anything about the movie Sideways, but seeing it compared in this topic to About Schmidt is enough of an indication to me that you should consider taking your girlfriend out to see something else. If she's as intelligent as you make her out to be, then why not give her a little more credit in regards to the movies you consider on taking her out to see?

So it's a bad idea to take a girl to a movie she wants to see? News to me.

Saw it last night as a date movie, and it was outstanding -- very funny, and lots to talk about afterwards. (Unfortunately, part of the discussion was, "Are guys REALLY like that?")

One of the best movies of the year, and on my must-buy list once it comes out on DVD.

I saw it on a date last night as well, and really enjoyed it. (It must be "Take a Girl To See Sideways Week" at GAF.)

The theater was packed, by the way--we got there ten minutes early, and were lucky to get seats next to each other (in the last row).

Yeah, that's probably gonna happen. Depressed the hell outta me and the other 4 people I saw it with. It is a good movie though.

Obviously, if there wasn't some question as to whether it may be a bad idea or not, this topic wouldn't exist. If the poster did not care to go by any opinion other than the girl's, then none of us would be typing about it. :lol
